Thinking of getting an M4 iPad Pro? I've compared it to some features of the S9's S-pen and XP-Pen Artist Pro 16. Watch the video here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xgAw_LNgnbA.htmlsi=klvnmkNwkjurGNrV
You're the first reviewer to mention pressure levels and how it impacts brush workflow. Since I'm used to Huion 22 plus on my pc with 8k pressure levels I'm afraid I'll be annoyed by the S pen 4k. Would really like you to try XP Pen magic drawing pad (16k pressure levels) since your brush workflow is the most similar to mine I could find for reviewers.
pressure level is not really what affects that. I also think this is one of the few reviewers that talks about that, it's called IAF (initial activation force), it's what most impacts the feel of the pen when you are drawing, it's the force you need to apply on the screen for it to detect the first level of pressure of the pen (so pressure levels are useless if the IAF is not calibrated well) 4k is more than enough, tablet companies keep adding more and more pressure levels and marketing it as the game changing feature but it's just buzzwords. The IAF is much more important. You can test if a pen has a good IAF by holding the pencil by the top end, place the tip on the screen and let the pen's own weight do the drawing by sliding it over the screen, if it doesn't leave a mark it's not well calibrated and you will have a hard time doing gesture and lighter sketching, and it will also affect tilt since when you tilt the pen you're barely applying any force to it. sorry for the long reply, I hope you find a good tablet for you.
@@Drelay Haven't tried Huion yet. I did a brief comparison between iPad, S9 Tablet's S-pen and XP-PEN performance here: You can see all the devices I've already used here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xgAw_LNgnbA.htmlsi=klvnmkNwkjurGNrV
With android, especially with one as powerful as the Tab s9, you can just emulate the operator system Windows and just use the full version of Photoshop or blender if you don't like the drawing and sculpting programs available on android
Thank you for making this! I have S9Ultra. I feel tablet is capable of running heavy apps. But unfortunately some of the apps are not optimized for the tablet. Developers always give priority to ipad apps. I am yet to find a good app that has stable tilt pencil support on android.
Thanks for watching! For digital brushes and mentorships click here: jingmatinong.gumroad.com/ OR www.artstation.com/jingmatinong What do you think of the S9’s art performance and stylus?
One more thing: There are also several alternative pens available that you can use on the S9, like the Staedler pen, for example, or the wacom one pen and more. And if you also have a galaxy pen enabled phone like I have (s23 ultra) , you can use the same pens on the phone as well. It works cross hardware platform .
To be honest i really want to get this for my birthday in may since it comes with the pen i want to get it and with a glove it will be my first digital drawing device 🎉
CSP and Procreate are both great, I use both for professional work. The only caveat is you can’t have Procreate on Android. So I recommend mostly CSP and Infinite Painter for alternatives.
@@YurushiiGamingi have the the tab s7 got ot for sub 200€ for art and note taking it runs flawlessly even games do i use it for movies and light gaming but i saw nomad and sculp+ and got them i use sculp+ because for ne its a simpler smaller more minimalistic design but i tried both and theh work fine even with the grab or move tool that may cause some struggle and lag on the tab s7 it doesn't and runs smoothly from my small experience. Tab s7 has the 865+ unless ur doing x86 emulation all apps will certainly run with no problem tho I haven't tested stuff like genshin impact or idk im sure they also run maybe not at full ultra settings but one thing is that the tab s7 is 3y unless someone ports oneui 6 u won't get jt 5.1.1 is as far as it goes but also it's full of features just not the new ui no 5g i have a sim and a 256 gb sd card in it woth ram plus so a total of 12 gb of ram i would recommend u go for the 8 unless u don't care about it as oneui is still packed to the brim with features i recently been using dex because my laptop overheas in 36°c and that's also been great all my hope is that someone ports the oneui 6 rom and then its a great tablet
Thank you for this video! Been looking for a professional artist review on the s9 instead of the bigger ones 😊 Am pretty much set in getting a tab s9 to get back to drawing since it fits my budget more 😅 (20% student discount here and it comes with the pen) so now I know what to expect. Also does the tablet heat up a lot when you're drawing & doing the 3D sculpting?
The tablet may heat up a bit. Don't worry too much which tablet to use. What's important is drawing and practicing daily. I started with a Wacom Intuos so today's generation is lucky to have portable tablets like the S9 for drawing directly on the screen.
would you mind if i want your opinion? Now i'm using Ipad Air5 64GB but my storage is not enough and I don't use the iPad for anything except drawing because of the space. and i'm not apple eco system [ i have only one ipad ] Now i'm thinking about move on to samsung galaxy tap [ maybe S9+ or 10+ that will be coming soon ] Should i move on to the samsung galaxy tap? i'm 2D and comic artist.
I did a quick review of Huawei Matepad 11.5 S PaperMatte. It seems really great for inking: ru-vid.comjsqyd_mY13I?si=J5Fz5phC4hsTqBya I also made a new review on the M4 iPad here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xgAw_LNgnbA.htmlsi=ao_xurZWHb-SoUJx Best way to know if you like a tablet is to go to the store itself and try it out.
Hey, great video, the thing is I also got an s9 but I feel that the colors on the screen are much "bluer" than my iPhone, or maybe a bit oversaturated. Have you encountered the same thing or it's just a me problem. Is there any way to color-calibrate my tablet?
It's the same case for me, colors are more saturated. For example, when I use the S9's camera to take reference photos for painting, I usually just adjust the colors on my Mac or iPad later.
@@eyeghelemebright6938 Display modes are about how "colors are displayed" on screen. Changing the Display modes is not the same as Color Calibration. Color calibration means colors are matched consistently whether in file export or in colored print outputs, which is important in professional work.
Can’t honestly recommend any yet since I have not used them. I heard people buy paperlike films online and that the Wacom One Pen feels better on the S9 with paperlike installed as opposed to the S pen. It’s possible the S pen’s pliable nib may wear down quickly on paperlike surface.
I will use the S pen frequently for about 9 months. I am afraid that the tip of the pen needs to be changed too much? I learned from some comments that people who draw change the tip of the pen every 2 hours. Should I buy this tablet? Can you help me?

Others say the wacom one pen is better for the S9. Best way to know if you like a tablet is to go to the store itself and try it out
I've been using another spen tablet (tab s6 lite) for a few years. I was also worried about tip wearing down at first. It got dirty and not as sharp as it was, still never needed a change. I am heavy handed and I do a lot of detail lineart work. One thing to be careful about: I never used a paper like screen cover, they are harder on the nib. Since the nib is a soft material, I don't need that extra grip from paper like covers. Overall I am so happy with the performance that I am buying the S9+ today. Perhaps, if it needed that much changing for some people, their pen might've been faulty from the start?
I'm planning on picking up drawing again even if the last time I draw was 2011 and I'm thinking of the S9. I can barely use Apple products, my sister has an ipad pro gen 4 (maybe) and iphone 13 pro max and iphone pro 14 5G(again maybe, dont really know the models, just matching the prices to guess the type). I could never get into iOS. I've been looking at reviews and it seems like S9 is a good product to work (and relearn drawing) with since I can't exactly drag my PC around. Addition : Nothing, I think, about iOS or MacOS is intuitive. That has been my problem with Apple (that and how overpriced it is despite offering pretty much the same functionality and how closed the ecosystem is).
@@artlodeI heard Infinite Painter is good. Honestly at this point it probably won't matter what I pick because I'll be starting from scratch again, it'll be a new experience for almost-40 year old me. Haha
Im wanting to get a new tablet, from my old old galaxy tab 4, but it's a want not a need, it's hard to know what to do as i don't want to spend much, but the tab s6 is a bit small. I do have a screenless drawing tablet for my PC but this would nice too, to take it out and about, use for other things too. Have you tried the android version of procreate HiPaint it used to be by Huion but i guess its kinda not now
What color mode for the display is the best for drawing, vivid or natural? I find the natural one being very dull and even with a sort of warm tint to it, so I'd appreciate your opinion on this!
I go for Natural mode over Vivid because Vivid overdoes the colors. Choosing Natural is better in terms of color accuracy in terms of file export. If I export an artwork image using Vivid mode, the image file will look dull compared to the tablet screen's vivid mode especially if it gets printed or viewed on another device.
For beginners, it makes sense to get what fits your budget the most - like the S9 FE. Then, get really good at your skills. Once you get better, get a pricier tablet.

@@zayn7534 it depends on what type of art you like to create. For my professional work, I paint for long hours and the iPad is still the best tablet at this point.
I like the Samsung pen drawing experience better than Apple Pencil. The Ipad as a complete package is better. They both fall short that it's not a computer.
I find the s-pen is better for inking while the apple pencil is better for quick sketches and rendering paintings. Both are portable and great for remote work.
@@_StarlightRose_ I’m a trying-hard wannabe artist who can’t seem to get sketches right. For now, any stylus or pen would do. I didn’t know Samsung has pen variants. Apple has no pencil crafted only for artists.
If you're talking about the rubber tips you get from samsung s pen I 100% agree that's more so for writing than getting quick smooth lines which I just ordered plastic nibs from aliexpress it works really well
@@artlode lol. I know right. But thank you for this review though. I appreciate that it's coming from an artist's perspective. I initially wanted to get this tab for journaling and digital art but seeing that the pen sensitivity is not standard across apps like CSP and infinite painter is a bummer :(
The Samsung aspect ratio and dimensions is not the best for art too narrow wide screen better for basic task, gaming and watching videos/movies plus less black boarder around videos. iPad is more square dimensions is better for artists/illustrators but gaming and videos have more black boarder so sometimes cuts the content off. If your not an artist Samsung is better and for the price. Samsung wide screen and iPad more square so more space on the top and bottom so better especially for using apps with tools on the sides and in portrait mode.
@brushimpact I don't have this particular tablet but I had an issue with Samsung customer service before, and I was not impressed, to say the least. Still, they make a damn good hardware, and the price for their gadgets are going down rather quickly opposing to Apple's.
Samsung will support tabs for 3 to 4 years, iPads work for 8 to 10 years. Samsung products are untested, mostly faulty and the after sales service is a joke. It can’t connect to a Mac as an external display and you miss out on iPad only apps. So when all these problems go away, Samsung can start dreaming about your title.
