I wasn't overly impressed until it arrived on Friday, August 2, 2024. My fiancée even likes it. I got the dark titanium and orange band combination. Twenty-four hours into the ownership experience, I do _not_ even miss a rotating bezel. I wouldn't have believed I'd be saying this a week ago.
Just my ooinion but i didnt like it when i seen the photos so i went to a shop to see it in the flash and i dont like the looks at all. Ive got a watch4 classic and im thinking of upgrading to the watch 6 classic. Or ill probably just wait for an 8 classic in the future
Coming from the watch 5 pro to the GWUltra has been fantastic! I use 30% battery per day with everything on. Im glad it doesn't have a rotating bezel. Used to get sand in it at the beach and had issues. GWultra is a win for me.
@@Rivs5117 it's just not a practical feature in day to day use. The length of time it takes to tap your fingers usually you can already scroll through your apps or songs/pics/settings quicker
Great video. But I do have to call out bs on battery life. I, too, have everything turned on. Now, while I can stretch my watch into 2 days. I certainly doesn't last 2 days. I'm a very active person, but 2days it definitely doesn't achieve with my usage. Granted we are all different.
@zod4365 having come from the 4 classic lte version. This also .ade sensational claims of two days. Now, given this newer watch, it has a bigger battery and all the rest. I would personally have hoped for it, too of done what was claimed given how many generations of watch has now come before this particular watch.
@richardstevens3625 sure. Based on your actions and opinions. I agree with your point of view. I'm asking how someone else's view, actions, and opinions "bs" if it doesn't line up exactly with yours? Sure, you wrote an "out" by pointing out the obvious, I'm asking why call it "bs" to start with?
@zod4365 right now more with you. I even tried just doing settings on a less based activness. So for example, not reading heartbeat all the time. Setting screen brightness to roughly 50/60%. And so on so forth for other various settings. And I still couldn't get near or close to 2 days battery. I wasn't calling out bs on the person who made the video in any way. I love the videos and find them a good reference to me possibly buying future stuff. But the 2 day's is more what I'm getting at.
I'm actually a big fan of the marine band! It's very comfortable and breathes well due to all the holes. I'm still planning on buying some other bands to dress the watch up a bit, but the marine band will probably be my daily.
I enjoy my Galaxy Ultra, but I don't waste my time with the health features of it so I disable those along with neutering Bixby and I've managed to squeeze 5 days of battery life out of it. Way better performance than its stuttery predecessors.
I still don't understand why there is stupid people out. There who say this is a copy of the apple watch when Samsung has used the cushion casing before Apple released their first watch and that would be the gear sport. So Samsung just Revisited the design and decided to use it without the rotating bezel, which is stationary personally. I went with the titanium gray. It makes more sense for me as it has the orange accents everywhere and the Marine watch band is not bad at all. It's there and you don't have to worry about it. If you ever go into the water. I have been enjoying my watch very much although the battery drains pretty quickly and that's because it's still under learning pattern and we'll see that change the more I use it. So people have to stop saying this looks like the Apple watch Ultra when it doesn't. Yes, it may have the orange theme like apple, but there's nothing similar with both of them.
@@jesuscervantesj82 you dont need to be an apple fan to see the similarities. the button, the bands... the only difference is that instead of a full display you get a circular one... Its like someone who copy your homework but change 1 answer lol
Of course whenever a review loses points due to aesthetics, it will always emphasise subjectivity. I actually like the band that comes with the watch. It's chunky and rugged. But at least, as you say, 3rd party bands are now starting to appear if you don't like it.
I thought that it was okay, but I have actually fallen in love with it over the past week. Amazing battery life, just miss Facer. The trail band is meh, but I like the standard band
Personally, I like the marine band , but I wasn't sure about the orange at first ,but I do like it now , and it's surprisingly comfortable to wear , battery life has been good too , I certainly notice the difference in speed compared with the 6 classic. What's the clock face you're using ?
I bought converters for old bands, but my biggest gripe is the button release to change bands. I've got sausage fingers, and it's a struggle. The stock band is too thick, bulky, and the rubber catches on anything it touches. The 'trail band' one they gave me for free is meh, overly long wrap around with a hooked end, and a bar piece that goes through the band, which i could see falling out if hit right but also only some what adjustable. I use an old d buckle or a magnetic one. I still hate that it locks the watch if you're actively using the wallet ap, just lock the ap, but that's an old software complaint. Really like it but only upgraded because I got $400+ off with a 5pro trade-in and other discounts. And in no way should these bands be $80, that's just ridiculous.
@@reaper1343 Not more? Hmm.. That sucks😐 Hope there are specific things that can be turned off to encrease it without using power saving mode. I already charge my old S3 Frontier that much and that's from 2016... It lastet 3-4 days when new. Considering Huawei or Garmin instead. MUCH better battery.
@Oystein87 I use LTE and when I first got it, I got 2 days... since the update, I've gotten 4 days. Aod is off but health features are on. I am coming from classic 6, I really love this watch. Sensors are more accurate. Highly recommend. Hope this helps.....
A lot of people have commented on how long it takes to charge. I've noticed with my previous charger it takes forever. I got out the Ultra factory charger and paired it with my 45watt fast charge block and it charges much faster. I'm talking WAY faster! There was talk of the charging speed being taken up to 15watt but then they kept it at the same 10watt as previous models but I'm thinking it really does charge at 15watt with a fast charge block. Why they said they kept it at 10watt when in fact it can charge faster beats me. Maybe I just got lucky but if anyone else wants to give it a try and report back here with the results maybe we can help a lot of people out.
Foolish to expect faster charging rates, without qualification. The faster the charge, the shorter the battery life, with attendant greater heat. Two hours is impressive!
@antonstayduhar8748 no heat issues with my setup, so I don't expect any battery issues. If the watch couldn't charge as fast as it does then it wouldn't. Have fun sitting and waiting 2 hours for your watch to charge when mine is ready in no time.....
Are certain health features limited to those with Galaxy phone still? That's my one hangup from upgrading from my galaxy 5 pro. I'd really like access to all of the features while I have my pixel phone.
@giovannibucio as a little experiment this last week. I plugged the watch charger into my phone. While the phone was on wireless charging. I did find, that while both were charging. The phone ultimately was still loosing charge. And that's from Samsungs triple charger. But as said was just a test.
@@richardstevens3625 i use the bed charger, its comes with one side to wireless charge ur phone and the right side to charge any watch except apple also u can charge ur ear pods. i use a 65w power brick maybe thats why it works?
Hey Sal, I've been using this watch for 10 days now. Preordered it. I agree with all your points. I'm really not happy with the watch bands. For me coming from watch 4, battery life is a winner. I do not have to charge it everyday! And yes it looks damn good in metal than in photos and videos. Love from India❤
We already had a programable shortcut button... The power button has always been possible to double tap to use as your own shortcut to various functions or apps.. Atleast since the Gear S3 days.. So this is just an added button dedicated for the same thing.
Why do reviewers keep saying the finger pinch feature is new? Dude... I've been using that on the Watch 5 Pro and on the Watch 6 Classic. What's crazy is that I believe I learned that from THIS very channel. So far, every reviewer says it's new... THE PINCH FEATURE IS NOT NEW!!!
I was just one click away to order this but then I thought I will wait for next year's edition. My intuition says next year's edition will be much better than this and who knows if that will come with rotating bezels too..😉
With that titanium build, it should be good to go. I’ve accidentally bumped it against walls and doors a few times, and there’s not a single mark on it.
I know I'm alone in this, but I still think the watch that Nothing Company offers is more than enough. BUT thank you Sal, for this review to let us know with honesty what to expect. That's why I love your videos.
Hey Sal, have you heard about Samsung repairability and how IFixit ended their deal with Samsung because they made everything so expensive due to gluing and not providing individual parts. I’m currently disappointed with that, it seems the current CEO of the mobile division doesn’t have the same vision as the old one. So I’m not too sure the new wearables are going to go through the same.
Yeah, I was bummed about that too. But I heard the bigwigs at Samsung are pissed with the mobile head and his choices lately. They're not happy that the products are looking too much like Apple's. So, there's a chance we might see the old Samsung back in action soon.
I heard about that and it is unfortunate because Best Buy was the closet service provider for people in the U.S. I think Sal needs to make a video about it because that is a problem.
4 or 5 days? I have one. I can get 2 full days on battery saver. Overall, I like it, but after owning one I would probably have opted for the regular 7. It is much snappier and smoother than the 6. I miss the rotating bezel though.
Is the double-tap feature part of the accessibility? If I'm not wrong, its there in the previous watches, but when you turn it on, it has that ugly bright squares on the UI elements. I notice the Ultra doesnt have. Is it any different here?
I have an Apple Ultra 2 and now a Samsung Ultra for 3 weeks. Everyone has their own, but I still prefer samsung ultra. My battery doing 2 days and 8 hours like Ultra 2. I have both apple watch and samsung watch classic 6 but ultra is heaven and earth difference in quality, appearance first
When opening certain apps on phone and using them, my watch vibrates once, then 3 more times about 10 sec later. It sporadically did it. Thoughts? All notifications to these apps are off.
I bought thw orange ultra cause the face is gray I don't like the titanium silver but I like how the clock lines aren't orange the white one would get so dirty in my life so I bought the gray and orange watch I will be trying to get used to all this orange hahaha great video man
I'm a fan of the band. Much more comfortable than the watch 6 classic band. Not to mention much more durable. Also, people need to stop making a big deal about the rotating bezel. It's not practical especially when you can just use the display to navigate between slides. With the watch 6 classic the rotating bezel was always getting stuck because sweat and gunk would build up in it making it difficult to rotate to where I would just use the screen. No one ever mentions this. People like me will be using this watch all day in blue collar conditions but most reviewers are probably just using it in the office 🤷
Yeah it's a big deal when you don't want to touch the screen your finger gets in the way of your view of your working out and sweating it's easier to navigate with it. The rotating bezel is one of the reasons people but Samsung watches to make it your thing that ppl flock to then to take it away is sin. If you don't like it that's fine but to tell ppl they making a big fuss over it is a pretty shallow and narrow minded statement
@@AndrewSmith7 most people gravitate towards whatever apple does. A small minority of people will cry about this rotating bezel. You're among the unicorns who care about this issue. You don't seem to like this reality I'm stating. Can't help you there. Samsung made the right decision here. The rotating feature is still there. Which means you clearly haven't used the galaxy watch 6 classic
Im struggling with my battery life. I only just about get 2 days max. Usually end up in powersaving mode by the 2nd evening 🫤 i dont have always on display on, no LTE Sim installed, every else set to standard. I have come from a 5 pro so i knew it wouldnt last as long as that but honestly thought it would be better. As for the rest of the watch, love the way it looks, not a fan of the available straps and think the orange button is pointless as i dont need to access sports (they auto track) and the other few limited options arent that useful either. They need to add the ability to open any app with it imo. All on all I'm still happy with it but i do think the proce is a bit high for the limited extra features over the standard 7
Or, for several hundred pounds less, you could upgrade to the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, which has a rotating bezel and reverse charging! I like the idea of the action button, but would prefer if it was just silver rather than tictac orange.
I have had the galaxy watch 1 and am still wearing the galaxy watch 3. Neither of these two watches could count flights of stairs properly. Did they correct that problem with this new Galaxy Watch Ultra?
Agreed, if true. I'm a big WeChat user and enjoyed seeing messages on my old Tizen based watch. Let's cut to the chase here.... how much cash has to be exchanged between vendors to give customers what they want?
@antonstayduhar8748 is the one thing I looked forward to, even skipped reviews on watch6 classic, so it would be a brand new experience, turned out 525ish bucks and it still utilize RU-vid, fb, Twitter apps in 2024 smh
I just got my watch ultra I titanium silver with the orange band and orange sliver accents and I love it , I charge it with my qi charger and it's quite good , I am happy with the wrist band and it fits perfectly on my wrist
Idk why they even released the watch without the bands to support it. All the sizes were M/L which is too big for a lot of good folks. Thank God I was able to get the free trail band that came with it because it's a S/M and fits and feels great. Hopefully the S/M sizes become available soon.
The stock marine band is actually imprinted on the band as "S/M/L" which contrasts with the "M/L" shown on the website. I can't speak definitively as to which is correct but had a friend try it on her very small wrist and it fit well.
In terms of features and processor, this is the best and most advanced smartwatch on the market. It has a 3nm processor. These things really arent discussed enough.
Battery life and performance are great welcome changes, but I don't understand the logic of removing reverse wireless charging and rotating bezel. I get it is for big sensor but correct me if I'm wrong that watch ultra use the same charger as with other watch such watch 7 and so on which support reserve charging and it is underrated feature. I have many instance where I forgot to charge my watch and I had my phone help to topup my watch and didn't have carried another cable or charger with me. As well rotation bezel which was reason to consider upgarde to watch 6 classic but battery life is not great on that thing and same chip too. So I didn't went for watch 6 classic. New health features are great but I use my watch as just reference for my health on daily basis. Smart watches aren't most accurate or scientific way to track our health. That is not possible right now and I think most of us understand that but we welcome these features to improve our regulatory process of maintaining our health. Design is subjective as per person but I still prefer the round design. I know they did square for big batteries. See in person has changed my opinion either. I'm not saying they copied apple or anything other brand. Let's face it, everybody copied each other and this isn't a new thing either. I am still not sure about updating from watch 5 pro to this. Watch 5 pro is almost perfect, but lack of rotation bezel and performance are some downside. I am so disappointed as I was hoping watch ultra will be true successor for watch 5 pro. But now, I am leaning more on to sticking with watch 5 pro and lets see what samsung do next year. Hoping for better.
The main reason I'm reluctant to purchase this watch is the battery life. If I wanted to extend the battery life, it means having to turn apps off. If I'm paying good money for this watch, then I should be able to use all its features without concern of battery being drained, requiring recharge after 1-2 days use.
They're still supposed to drop on August 28th in the US. I made a video explaining the whole issue here.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8bV8DlrB7Ss.html
@@jamesm568 meh... I'm a licensed counselor working primarily with somatic interventions & a yoga instructor & I use them. The vast majority of my clients are addressing physical & mental health concerns. I don't recommend that anyone pay Apple Tax. The workouts in Samsung's health app are free, whereas Apple charges a subscription fee to access the same option. The watch has more sensors than the Apple Watch Ultra 2 & finally has dual GPS tracking, which the Apple Watch Ultra has had for 2 generations. The only advantage Apple has in the area of health tracking software & that lead is dwindling every year. Apple doesn't have a ring option & Oura has had a subscription fee for its service as of Jan. 2024.
There's quite a few exist already. You don't have to hope. If you wear both at the same time, not only do you get more accurate readings, but you get better battery life from both, because the algorithms leverage all the sensors. It's pretty sick.
@@jamesm568Professional health care specialists don't recommend any wearables or smartwatches. Every smartwatch on the market warns you it's not a diagnostic tool and it's readings shouldn't be used to make medical decisions. Not sure what your point is.
I like mine. As a diabetic, I can use many of the standard watchfaces to see my blood sugar in a complication and not have to have the ugly blood sugar only watch face. I have not been able to figure out the bezel. I can scroll like I see people on RU-vid. The watch is comfortable. The GPS gives totally different results than the Watch 6. I compare it to my buddy's Garmin bike GPS unit. Watch 6 was recording less distance than his (very old) garmin and the Ultra show more distance when we ride the same trail. I think it was worth it (Of course I traded my 6 so I did not pay that much)
@TechTalkTV can u address the issue of battery drain, even after disabling so many features, my watch 7 44mm lasts only 12-16 hour which is too bad. At least 24 hours battery is needed. Please help
@@AshGrantASH8 Bruh where did i compare watch 7 with watch ultra??? Dont DayDream, dont know about ultra, but watch 6 44mm gives nearly 32-36 hours battery while watch 7 44mm is giving only 12hour battery, how's watch ultra here in this comparision, I they launch a ultra that doesnt mean they normal 7 will be 30% battery life than previous year;s one.
You mean it’s like that awful haircut that gets people who never comment actually commenting positive remarks about it because it’s such a shocker and they feel the need to be polite
The sad thing about it, is the new regulations implemented with the seven, and the ultra, is that it means that the popular facer app, a place I have made hudreds of faces, is no longer compatable. for that reason, I'm not at all keen to buy it.
If they didn't include the ability to power share why the hell would they not make it fast charging? I bought it anyways, I'll probably just upgrade when and if the next one is better.
Samsung needs to make a high-end watch with a style fitting for non-athletes and 45mm max. A bulky watch with bright colors is hard to fit into the usual outfits
