Thank you very much for the excellent video. I am using a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 which is almost 5 years old and it's tiem to upgrade to a newer Samsung. My faithful Galaxy Note 9 has an S-Pen, the functionality of a Secure Folder (where I store all my banking apps and sensitive notes) and most importantly an external Micro SD card slot. The intrinsic memory of my Galaxy Note 9 is just 128 GB but I use an external memory card that gives me an additional 786 GB of extra space. The Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy S23 Ultra both have a S-Pen (a discrete S-Pen in Z Fold 5 is the biggest disadvantage I think, mainly because I tend to misplace small things). Could you please tell me which phone, the Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy S23 Ultra has Secure Folder and a slot to accommodate an external Micro SD Card to enhance the storage capacity? Thanks so much!
Everyone has been saying S23 Ultra is the best Flagship out of all the phones on the market. Whether or not that's the case, I'm completely satisfied with my S23 Ultra and don't want anything else. The screen quality is amazing, I notice a difference compared to my Note 9, and Note 10+. This latest generation of Note now rebranded to S Ultra series is the best experience I've ever had and I'm completely amazed at its battery life and smoothness. Being able to be a power user and still get better battery life than the same 5000 mA battery on my old Samsung A53u. Samsung really is the best phone manufacturer ever. I've always gone with Samsung as my go too. Even above my old Sony flagship. And One phone
As long as any Fold X has no S-Pen slot, there is no convincing me to put $600 bucks more onto the counter! Also, the outer screen w/o S-Pen support is a major downer for me as well as the narrow width. I'll rather wait and enjoy my S22 Ultra for a couple more years or so.
Well I've always been a Samsung Galaxy Note user but I'm looking for something different so I'm going to try the fold five for the first time so I hope my experience will be great❤
Rocking an S21 Ultra. One main reason I bought it was for Dex. I have a Samsung monitor with a keyboard and mouse connected to it. I wirelessly run Dex to the monitor and get my multifunction needs taken care of. It's also nice to have the keyboard/mouse. Dex is highly under reviewed in my opinion.
I have a S23 Ultra which I'm going to keep instead of switching to the Fold 5. They're both terrific premium devices! Technically the S23 Ultra has the better specs, but you can get done whatever you need to with either phone for the most part. At the end of the day I would recommend getting whichever one that you like best. You can't go wrong either way.
@A42yearoldARAB It does seem a bit crazy how much more they've always charged for the Fold. Especially since the S series has better specs overall. It's obvious they're doing it because of the foldable design. Although, for the price they should find a way to make a slot for the Spen & make the specs equal to the S series.
I think the price could be a little better, like 1500. Granted any price difference makes a little sense since it is a much larger screen, and an additional screen
What you're saying makes sense, but if they're going to put that kinda price tag on it they should at least make the specs equal to the S23 Ultra which has a better camera among several other things. If they did that then I'd be trading in my S23 Ultra in for a Fold 5 right now, but I'm not.
@@davesyakovich3935 oh I 100% agree the specs should be the same, what I thought they would be doing is having a normal fold, then a fold ultra that's larger with the same camera. But the issue is that with the current size, the new 208mp camera just CANT fit inside the thin phone, so it would need to be thicker
I have the S23 Ultra absolutely love it but this Fold 5 looks amazing I am not replacing my S23 Ultra but definitely open to getting the Fold 5 on a separate contract
I imagine the drawing experience is still better on the S23 Ultra. Drawing a straight line across the middle dip would be very annoying and lead you to drawing mostly on either side thus losing the benefit of a larger canvas.
I just returned to my fold 5 for the S23 Ultra. I work at a cellular store and im on my Phone literally over 15 hours a day youtube always running ect and the fold 5 battery just wasnt up to par for my usage. Plus not coming with the spen and a better camera I just decided to return
I just purchased flip 3 but due to battery life and small form factor I switched to fold 3 in just 15 days. After 3months with fold internal screen damaged while just dropping from a chair. Now I switched to samsung s23 ultra and enjoying it's a excellent phone. For fold / flip you need extreme care for handeling.
ZFOLD 5 is a beast. Was thinking about upgrading to the s24 ultra. Even though thats gonna be a top notch phone, and i usually upgrade my phones every time they come out with the latest and greatest (my addiction 😂). Im sticking with the fold 5 this time 💪
I keep my phone long term, 3-4 years until security update is done. Problem with folding phone is that, there are no long term durability review for my use case. I still use my Note 10 plus and I can vouch for its durability. Now I'm waiting for my s23 ultra for my upgrade.
Still rockin' the last three Galaxy Note smartphones. My Note 9 Note 10 Plus and Note 20 Ultra. All are still doing their assigned tasks well. The S23 Ultra or S24 Ultra will replace the Note 10 Plus hopefully before the first of the new year.
I've had the note 20 ultra since release and it's still an amazing phone! I have still have my note 9 and 10+ also😂 just ordered the fold 5 but I don't know if I wanna give em my note 20 for the $800 off...
@@7KingCobra7 My sister wants my Note 10 Plus. You're right. The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is amazing. I really love it. The Galaxy Fold Phones seem OK. I'm not sold on them quite yet. I'm giving the Galaxy S23 a very hard look as well. Ordering directly from Samsung.
Thank you so much for the review infact i do have a S23 ULTRA happy with it, however i also have a tab s8 plus should i replace or buy the s9 tab plus just wanted your review on this.
If the Z fold 5 had a larger screen on the outside, I would go with it but because the screen is larger on the S23 ultra I'm going with that. I want the largest screen on the outside and not just when you fold it.
Picked S23, the main considerations are the superior camera, more durable, water resistance and Price. I wanted Fold5 because I also frequently read ebooks or comics but I figured its still a bit cheaper if I buy a S23 and a mid range Samsung tablet than a brandnew Fold 5.
Highly considering getting the fold 5. I’m currently on Apple and I’m tired of the mediocrity. I will miss the Apple appeal such as the OS but other than that I don’t see a reason to stay. Time to grow up
A few years ago I switched from the Galaxy S21 Ultra to the iPhone 12 Pro Max. A years ago I switched to the 13 Pro Max. This time around I’m going back to Droid. I waited and am going to buy the Fold 5 tomorrow. I’m tired of Apple’s BS more than anything. That said, my 13 Pro Max does have several issues which a year old phone shouldn’t have. 1) the battery is already saying its maximum charge is 80% 2) more and more lately the phone isn’t recognizing the charge cable 3) it has been getting very hot under load, the strange thing is that using the same apps hasn’t caused it to heat up until now 4) notifications no longer work properly, I don’t get alerts for texts at all now
So the difference between the ultra and the fold is that one folds open and one doesn't? Man thats indane insight. You are a great teviewer for age 65+
I was a Sprint customer and now finally have switch over to T-mobile which I am on the essential plan so in order for me to per-order the z fold 5 to qualify for the $1000 off a t mobile rep has told me I also need to upgrade my plan to the 5g plus plan which I believe cost more then the plan I already have don't know why I need to change my plan to order this phone?
The Fold5 isn't a tablet, it's just a slightly bigger smartphone. And there stops everything. You can now buy easily the S23 Ultra for less than 1000€ depending on what storage capacity you want, and from my POV 256GB it's good enough for a smartphone, but for 70-80€ you're not gonna miss the 512GB one. Also, the price of the Fold5 will not go down too soon, so for 1800€ you can afford to buy a S23 Ultra with 512GB or even 1TB storage capacity, the newest S Tablet and even a Galaxy 6 Classic watch
I have the z fold 5 and now am forced to use a normal phone for work. For me, it's not possible to go back to a normal phone . The small screen seems super limited.
I just ordered my Galaxy S23 Ultra today and I cannot wait for it to arrive in 2 to 3 business days. I have had a Galaxy Note 20 for the last 3 years or so and I did not know what to do when Samsung discontinued the Galaxy Note because my last three or four phones were all Galaxy Notes. I did some research and found out about the S23 Ultra and I placed my order today. Now I am wishing that I would have gone to the T-Mobile store instead of placing the order over the phone because I want my new phone now and because today is Thursday I probably won't receive it until Monday. After having this Galaxy Note 20 for the last 3 years I just want a new phone but one that is very similar to a Galaxy Note.
To usr the full screen on the fold 5, you have to zoom in which you can't see the entire video. If you want to see the entire resolution of the video using the fold 5 you'd have to zoom out which makes watching videos or movies on the fold 5 smaller than using the s23 ultra. I'm switching back to the s23 ultra. The battery on the fold 5 only lasts a couple of hours, don't believe thr hype. The fold 5 sucks down the battery fast. The cameras on the fold 5 are horrible.
I actually like the flip 5 better than fold 5. I have an s23 ultra, and I watched the event yesterday, and if I decided to get another, I would definitely get the flip 5 and I'm so happy they brought back the physical rotating bezel on the watch 6
I completely agree with the watch 6, I got the watch 5 pro and the s23 ultra through insurance since my zf3 has a part broken and they could fix it, and my watch 4 classic just stopped working after they did work on it for the warranty. I'm honestly not happy with the watch 5 pro because of the missing rotating bezel, and I wish I could've gotten my fold 3 fixed rather than getting the s23u. I love the cameras, but in the cases of using the zoom and 200mp, it's more of a gimmick, and I will get similar looking pics with the zf5
Hey Saki, I love your videos helping me a lot 😊 Can you help us with something? I have tried to reach out to samsung Support for one upgrade on camera. Maybe you could do something with your influence. I asked them if they could add some kind of lock screen on camera mode, so when i film underwater, the water has pressure on display, so we can't film underwater Can you do something about that, please, or you already have an idea about that Thank you
I think samsung should switch the release date of the fold/flip series with the s series since the s have overall better spec. Newer fold/flip series would be able to at least match s gen from previous year before the newer gen overtake it later on the same year
Z fold 5, a remote control that turns to a square shaped tablet you can never watch a regular movie on it and holding its styler is a punishment experience, conclusion samsung is stubborn
As always an excellent informative video. I have the S22 Ultra and would like the Z5 If it was the real "Flagship"...meaning it should at least meet or beat the S23 Ultra. To have a lesser camera among other features I rather wait to see what the Z fold 6 will bring....So Samsung you lost a sale since I will do nothing until next year Unless I switch to Apple.
Not really. I used to own the note series, and if you have never owned a foldable, you will not understand. Try multitasking with your S23U. You just can't compared it to the Z fold 4. For multi-tasking/multimedia and business/productivity, go for Z fold series. For camera and normal phone day to day use go for the S series. It's as simple as that. Don't be childish. Both phones are marketed for different people. One is not better than the other. They are two completely different form factors. It's like saying a laptop is better than a PC!!!
If the z fold 5 had a newer chip than my s23 ultra then id trade but ive already had the SG 8 gen2 since it came out. Not much of an upgrade in my opinion.
@@kellymorton6001 yeah but who buys folding phone for one hand use 🤷♂️. I mean fold looks beautiful when it gets unfold so when it stays folded I would like to see outer design as S23U no matter how many hand we have to use for it lol
@@Arxh_shortswhile a wider front screen would be nice. It's nice the way it is because front screen can be one handed and convenient but then you can open it up for 2 handed
I have my 23 Ultra before launch part of pre-order .. so far I'm satisfied with it and If I ever change years later it would be still something similar to Galaxy series smartphones ..
I switched from the S22 ultra to the Fold 4 for my first fold experience. I was more than ready to switch back to the S23 ultra when it was available - the Fold never lived to my expectations and the gains weren't worth the losses for my needs. Doesn't look like there was much of a change for the 5 so I'm sticking with the S23U. I'd likely choose the pixel fold if i had to go to a fold at this point because of the better form factor, in my opinion
Me too. I use it as a secondary phone to my iPhone 14 Pro Max, I really love the S23 Ultra's form factor, battery life, and cameras. That blur, front facing camera, etc are all top notch. People thought I took some pics on my Canon R6 DSLR, and the thing with smart phones is. I prefer the colors that they produce with their chips. Looks so clean. Absolutely wild but I miss the Fold 4 and I can sacrifice a little battery if I got over the camera aspect.
@enochxander hopefully, but at that point, the s24 ultra will be out with a better camera. SAMSUNG really needs to keep the fold cameras on par with the S Ultra line for me to buy.
After having the Z Fold 3 and 4 both fail on me due to the interior screen defects I have lost faith in the Fold Line. I went back to the S23Ultra Line and Ive been very happy. I do miss the larger screen and the multi tasking ability on the fold but to satisfy my need I purchased a Tab S8+ that I carry with me.
Yeah, 100% agree. Had Fold 3 and 4 and I'm done, until they fix the screen protector lifting after a few months. Always had to send my phone in for week to replace it, because there is no proper Samsung Center around, and even that went wrong one time.
@@jameslopez3450 Yeah, that's what we've been told before the Fold 3, Fold 4 and now the Fold 5... just wait for a few months and remember the words of Einstein.
Why I won't purchase a Samsung Fold 5. I'm too rough on these phones. A solid phone does not break like the Fold. Eventually the Fold causes problems with the wiring. My last fold lost it's Bluetooth setting.
I’m only getting the fold 5 due to me watching videos and movies on my past time. Taking a tablet everywhere won’t help cause not every place has wifi . And I refuse to spend extra money on portable hotspot. So I’ll stick with the fold. If I get tired I’ll trade in for the 23U or a later model.
In my opinion the outside screen is too small for normal use, and the inner screen is amazing, but too big for regular use and there is big unused gaps when watching videos unless you zoom in, which will make you miss lots from the videos. The ultra was a better fit for me, still has a huge screen, always have the pen on hand, way better cameras, better battery life and never have the need to have 3 apps open
I'm changing to the Fold 5 after having the S23Ultra for only 5 months. I'm hooked on these folding phones but I keep going back to the S models from fear of the folder breaking. Hinges and screens change every model but I have yet to find one that I would keep for more than a year. The S23 ultra was very hard to trade in I must say.
If I am being honest, you should use any flagship phone for at least 2 years to actually get your money's worth out of it. But the Fold 5 is very exciting, I must agree. The 6th Fold will have the IP 68 dust and water resistance, which the current Folds don't have (just the water resistance, IP X8, no dust resistance).
As usual, you hit it out of the park! I have an S23 Ultra and a ZF3. I already pre ordered the cream colored ZF5, taking the 800 bux trade-in for the ZF3. Hopefully, Samy will make a version of the S Pen Stand case that they currently offer for the ZF4.
