Totally agreed with multi apps display..i used fold 4 daily for invoicing , email, trading forex, word processing, publishing, printing & big screen navigation tool with google map and waze side by side. Really g8 tool for business without Pc or Tablet. Skipped the useless narrow screen of fold 5 and cant wait for usable fold 6 wider screen . I paid a bargain aud $ 1135 only for having 3 in 1 devices after trade in etc. thank you Samsung. UPDATE: WOW WOW WOW !! Thank you Samsung for giving us a wider front screen that I can really use now with one Right Hand Thumb typing and so much lighter and thinner fold 6. I'm really impressed by the small changes that made massive improvement in usability. I'm gonna keep fold 6 for next 20 months and trade in for fold 8 before 24 months warranty runs out.
@@turbomunch cringe unnecessary reply, and dope comment from first guy between. You can tell he was really happy with the product and just shared his review
Honestly the cameras are better than what most people think. Ive already seen comparison videos with the Fold 6 and the latest iPhone Pro and the results were actually suprizing. Its all in the software
Just ordered the 6 and turned in my fold 3. Got $1020 for the trade-in and felt it was the best deal I could get for a 3 yr old phone. Obviously the cameras WILL be better for me. Looking forward to diving into it!
@giinnoo08 I'm thru Verizon. I bought through the Samsung app. Verizon guaranteed $800 for phone in any condition, Samsung gave me $220 for pre-ordering.
People will always complain. And the loudest, will clearly tell you they're unhappy lol Sure, it can be better, but people are forgetting how advanced the tech of foldables are. It's a great phone in of itself! I'd rather get this than a Chinese-brand phone where I'm not even sure if it's a reliable quality, or even have good support.
It is weird how almost all big tech channels praise those upgrades like they reading the pitch from samsung flyer. Outer screen now whooping 1 mm wider - cool now typing experience so much better..cameras in fold 5 was mediocre and stay the same but some how now cameras fine... come on, really?
I used the fold 2, fold 3 and fold 4 , my battery would die down in 6-7 hours ..would heat up ..like crazy ....and this would happen after 4- 5 months ...on my fold 3 there was a crease. .using the Vivo x fold 3 pro ..for a month.. guess it's the best foldable ...there ..amazing battery life ..with dual sim..I get about 6 hours of SOT
@@sandipbhaumik1102 lol bs. I switched from the s22 ultra to s23 ultra and now s24 ultra there are a lot of improvements in the camera department. you just don't know which ones or how to use it. like the 108mp from the s22 ultra to 200mp from the s23 ultra and 10mp 10x lens from s23 ultra to 50mp 5x lens that has a bigger sensor, wider aperture and more pixels. and the peak brightness is 2600 with anti reflective coating. overall s24 ultra is better and s22 ultra is outdated. you just suck at using your phone. 😁 😂
I currently have the Fold 5 and I love it. If the cameras were improved on the 6, I would've bought it immediately. But now I will wait and pray the 5 doesn't break in the next year!
Got my hands on the new Z Fold 6 4days ago. It looks and feels fantastic! YOU HAVE TO FEEL & HOLD IT. The refinement is absolutely on point on every angle. The built feels so robust! Photos and videos won't do justice. You have to check it out! I upgraded from my current Z Flip 5. Excited to receive my preorder. 🔥
It's funny because to me the Fold 6 night photo looked better than that Iphone photo. The Fold 6 has less detail on the cobblestones but on the Iphone the light in the lamp posts is blown out whereas with the Fold 6 it was not, and that's my biggest pet peeve with night time images and images in general (blowout). Thanks for the review!
I just pre-ordered mine yesterday. Bought the Samsung clear case from Best buy and picked it up today. Since I was at Best Buy, I got to finally see and hold the Fold 6 and let me say, coming from a 4, it solidified my decision to upgrade. It does feel a lot more premium, and it was so light. I also like the form factor/dimension. I can't wait for my Fold 6!
@@Stillway2006I have fold 4 and wonder if it will be comfortable to handling and operate with one hand like F4. I compered them at the store and love the weight of F6
Thanks for this review! Money is not an issue since I can do a trade in and I don't really take photos/videos. I just do a LOT of reading for work. A LOT.
Great review. Especially from a major RU-vid channel. So many others are so biased towards this device with a negative tone. Well done being balanced and honest
I think when Samsung said they're rounding the edge of the s25 Ultra, it seems like they're going to it like the Fold 6. In that case, it will be welcomed.
I think a narrow front display is ideal. Any wider may defeat the purpose of it being a foldable because most people may default to using it without unfolding it like a normal phone. In other words, a narrow display forces people to remember why they spent all that money on the phone in the first place. If you want a regular sized, broader display on the front, just stick with the regular S series
Thats samsung's philosphy and it makes sense but having used a proper wide outer screen on foldable, i would disagree. A proper wide outer screen + tablet screen is the best ideal combo. You get a proper smartphone & tablet experience. Its eventually where Samsung is headed.
I agree completely. I appreciate that they thinned down the bezels instead of widening the physical dimensions much this year to create a wider display. If the device becomes larger, it defeats the purpose of having a portable foldable and won't be a consideration for me anymore. I think most people enjoy the narrow display, however since the people who want changes are often the loudest, hence we have the perception that most people want a larger outer display.
i do miss my Sasmsung S23 Ultra's camera system. But to be honest, I rarely use it. If i were to go on a vacation - I take my own professional camera systems. For work, the Fold 6's camera is enough for documentations.
@@Tmr2001 nah Battery is great. And guess where the other brands are getting their batteries from lol? I'll take a battery this size and a thinner phone, than one larger. When I need longer life I'll just main the front screen, manage brightness and run eco mode if necessary. 4400mAh is plenty for the front display use and good for the folding display when paired with the new chipset
Honestly, if you're really big into Tech, these phones are great. My BF works in IT and has had the fold 5 for over a year and still to this day does not shut up about how great his phone is. and now I'm thinking about upgrading from the Flip 5 to the new Fold 6 😅
I must admit I think from fold 5 to the fold 6 its a huge upgrade for me especially the fold 5 I had a lot of lag issues no matter how many big updates would come out. The previous generation fold 4 I had no lag issues either. I must say my fold 5 one time I dropped it and it was essentially totaled thankfully I had insurance on it and got another one at that time I thought perhaps maybe the fold 5 replacement would be less laggy but this was not the case. But now that I have upgraded to the fold 6 now i have not one laggy moment or issue.
as some one who has had every fold since the 3 i am moveing to the 6 for a few reasons. 1. every mm on the front makes a huge difference for these devices. when i had the 3 and the 4 came out and the screen was only slightly larger in pictures and talking points i didnt truly grasp how much of a difference it made to useability. i use both the out side and the inside quite evenly. my main gripe with all the folds is the fact that the inside is more square than it is 16 or 18x9 and it makes watching videos a little annoying imo. i just dont think there is ever going to be a time where the phone will feel comfortable in your pocket as a 16x9 or 18x9 folded in your pocket. i have grown quite use to the size of the device and i have a really hard time going back to putting a standard phone in my pocket. it drives me nuts every time a friend asks me to hold on to one at an event. 2. the brighter display. as some one who is constantly out side this is just a no brainer 3 and this is the main reason. after 3 years of using a foldable. i have finally had debris enter the hinge and destroy the inside screen from the inside out. so the fact that it is finally dust and even sand resistant is my main reason for switching.
I work at a metal factory where we forge parts for aerospace, commercial and military. We deal with molten metal and indutrail hydraulic presses. We get paid $20 an hour to start, we dont get paid enough to say the least lol
I have the fold 3 and just finished paying it off. I can't wait to switch in the time I've had it I've had it replaced 4times under warranty because the inner screen starts peeling, or gets dead pixels from folding and I don't even use the inner screen all that much. The smaller butter screen isn't optimized well with a lot of apps so the edges get cut off of things all the time. Also due to the folding screen the cases are 2 parts. One covering the top half one covering the bottom. They are held 2 the phone with a sticky glue. It doesn't make your phone sticky but after 5 or so months it starts to wear off and you have to buy a new cover. I tried a few brands including otter box and they all had the same issue. Ended up going with out and of course got a few light cracks in the screen. Sure the big inner screen is nice for movies and games but with the issues of the folding screen I won't be getting anouther for a long time.
Everything seems nice, but they have to give us bugger battery or at least 45W charging speed. Z Fold6 and have the same camera as S24. They've upgraded the Ultrawide lens sensor to be the same as S24. Quality is just the same as capable of shooting 4K@60fps with 0.6x Zoom magnification. Its main lens also able to shoot 4K@120fps and 8K@30fps. Build quality and speaker quality (particularly on Flip6) are top-notch this year.
I agree, it was on my buying list until I saw that the cameras and battery were the same. In most European countries: - it starts at 2000€ (in Europe after taxes, as always. As people have to pay taxes, I don’t understand why people in the USA talk before taxes…at least they could say “starts at…”) - in some countries there are 150€ credit or they offer the Buds Pro 3 if you pre order ending the 14th July - NO double the storage for preorders, at least on many European countries (which was great with the S23U in many countries, you would get double the storage and the buds pro) But you don’t get: - better cameras or real battery - don’t get the mandatory S-Pen / cover - 512 GB base storage (it’s 256 GB, so you have a >2000€ mini tablet/computer but only 256 GB storage in 2024!) - the AI features MAY cost something along the way! (wtheck) At the end, you end up paying 2400€ for the 512 GB + cover with SPen, having the same (now even cheaper) camera setup and battery. Most of the tech is far from new (so no high costs from the R&D) and are just small refinements. There is no excuse to charge more as 90% of the tech inside of it hot a lot cheaper to manufacture. I’ll pass, thanks.
Although spec didn’t change, for some reason, portrait photos are less blurry compared to Fold 5. This is something that I have noticed, as it bothered me so much while I was using Fold 5
Since my Z Fold 3 has started failing on me when unfolded about a month ago (but still falls within the description of good condition for turn in, lucky me) I figured I'd look at getting a new phone and waited for it to be announced to increase my options. Right now the Z Fold 6 is cheaper than the Z fold 5 on the Samsung site before adding additional discounts, not sure about elsewhere, but something to consider since you mentioned suggesting the Z fold 5 for being cheaper. Also why I decided to preorder the 6.
@@anthonyhernandez6230 So far no issues under normal use, which isn't saying much since I've only had it for a little over a week. The Z Fold 3 screen durability was pretty good, no defects after 4 years even when the wind knocked it down a story onto a non slip textured asphalt with no case, and with the expectation that they increased the durability over the few generations I have high hopes. I did have to remove the internal screen protector on the 3 though due to it starting to peel in the crease, and I heard it could cause screen damage if ignored when it peels like that.
I've been looking for an hour and still haven't had a single review tell me if they have added the ability to write on the front screen which has been needed forever. Rep for Samsung told me yes but I still haven't been able to confirm and if it's true, why is nobody making a big deal of it? Best feature of note and a series is that feature for business people and I've been waiting and waiting and if they have indeed finally done it, I'm happy as can be. 1 to be able to take the pen and write a note without even turning the screen on is the handiest feature ever when driving down the road . Samsung if you have added that feature may you live to be a thousand years old
I had the fold 4 and just upgraded to the fold 6 and my biggest complaint is typing on the front screen. I fat thumb everything and it's extremely annoying! Other than that I love it.
It seems that it ain't really worth upgrading from fold 4 to 6 from what I see? Am I right? I mean the price jump is quite big too even if you'd have to buy between them both. Most people should go for Fold 4 I guess? I guess for me is a wait until fold 7.
Why can't Samsung simply put two Samsung S24 Ultra Displays together to give us a fold??? And then use a third S24 Ultra display for the cover screen and the same camera system from the S24 Ultra and the built in S Pen in a Fold facto????? Samsung literally has all the hardware and software to make it happen and they don't need to reinvent anything new.
I wonder how long the folding screen will last on this one. My fiancé’s dad has one of the older Fold models and an entire line of pixels stayed distorted from the top to the bottom of the screen. It temporarily prevented us from showing our NFL tickets to get into the Bengals Texans game last year. Luckily my fiancé was able to sign into her fathers account from her IPhone
What's interesting is that the things that RU-vidrs are willing to die on, the average person could give no care about. This still has a great camera if you're comparing it to anything that's under $1,000. If the camera is really what you're going for, don't buy a fold! But not having the best camera does not make this a bad phone.
I just got home to preorder the silver Buds 3 Pro and saw the Z Fold 6 and it feels so premium. Also, it is actually thinner than I expected and also very light. I almost considered trading in my S24 Ultra but decided not to. 😆
Sal you’re 6’ 3” brother? Nice..! I have the F4. It’s in great condition. The F6 is not enough for me to upgrade. The price point even with Sammy’s discount is too steep. Again my F4 is in mint condition. I did see the F6 in the store today on display. It is a beautiful piece of tech.
You're right. The reason I'm on the fence about switching from my s23u is the camera. I'm so used to flagship a+ cameras that switching to the fold basically means switching to a b+ camera.
i have been almost buying the latest Folds for years now.. but all the reviews always seem to say 'it's not that much better than the previous version' ,, so alas,, my good ol S10+ survives yet again..
I'm waiting to see what The Pixel FOld 2 (or whatever they end up calling it) does to determine if this is the time to get my first folding camera or if I should wait. It's more of an experiment to me so I'm not sure if its time yet.
I'll definitely keep my Fold 4. If the outer display was wider and they upgraded the camera's, plus improve battery life. Samsung drop the ball, $100 more for a premium look. The fold 6 will be on sale by September!
You're actually wrong about the cameras. The Fold 6 Ultrawide camera is new, and far better than the one on Fold 5: "The Galaxy Z Fold 6's camera is largely the same as the Galaxy Z Fold 5's, but with one exception: the ultrawide camera. Samsung's upcoming foldable has a new 12-megapixel sensor for its ultrawide camera that the company says is better in dim scenarios, accompanying the 50-megapixel main camera and 10-megapixel telephoto camera from last year." That's from Cnet Tech.
im comming from a s23 and would really like to own the samsung fold so i checked it out few days ago. unfortunately, i noticed that the cameras would be a downgrade to my s23. thats absolutely a big NO GO for a device thats so expensive. will be going for the s24 ultra and wait for two years and see what samsung has improved by then.
Personally I think that Folds are above all work tools. If someone wants a “state-of-the-art” camera or something similar, I advise them to look at the S range. Otherwise I think the design of this new Fold is pretty cool. It is indeed premium. But I still want a larger "cover" screen, well it's a question of taste. At the moment I'm using an S23 plus and I don't see the point in changing. Maybe I'll get a Fold 5 as a second Smartphone. I don't really see any big revolutions and as long as last year's Smartphones benefit from AI...
Had Fold 3, upgraded to Fold 4 because i use the front screen more, now that we have an increase I'm upgrading again, i do a lot of stuff on the cover screen, but than when i get home i spend almost always on the large screen, worth the upgrade, I'd like couple of more millimeters to the right but I'll settle for this maybe for another 2 years.
Yes, you should. You will love the phone. The only reason some are upset is because there wasn't a significant change from the Fold 5 to the 6. I have the Fold 5 and I'm not going to upgrade because of the small changes, that's all. Other than that, you will love the phone.
The ultrawide camera got an update on the Fold 6... is it enough at the price point? Not imo... but to keep things factual they did make the change to the camera hardware
That crease! It's the only reason why I won't get one, plus I'm in construction I'll destroy it. Other than the crease this phone looks amazing. Good review video, short to the point.
