I love my gear s2 but the Svoice feature seems to have a lot of problems. It's not accurate. And is there are way to set Svoice to understand more than one language?
I just ordered one of these from T-Mobile in fact & it is on backorder for now. I am just looking to see how it is compared to all the other smartwatches I own. I own 3 Android wear watches, the original Pebble, 4 MetaWatches, the Allerta inPulse (made by Pebble founders), the 1st Gear S, Qualcomm Toq, the 1st Galaxy Gear, & plenty of Timexes & Casios.
HighTechCheck Received it. So far the hardware is amazing but the software is missing so much compared to Android Wear. From faces to accessibility options to apps. Oh well, new platform anyway.
Had to fix my girls batter life. Do this and see if it works for you. Shut it off and put it on the charger, while on the charger turn it on and let it charge.
+HighTechCheck nice vid man but one question if I get the wifi model and I'm walking outside the house can I use 3G on my watch and browse the web like the Gear S
is there a voice recording app? i want to use it as a reminder thing if im out and about... to record like " tonights trash night" then play it back so i can remember..... can this watch do that? thanks
thank you for the video and here is a big like from me i'm just have a question please can this watch work outside usa ? i am asking because i live outside usa and i don't want to lose any feature and what exactly the E-Sim do ? does the watch have a number so i can call directly to the watch ? or all the phone calls must be diverted from a phone ?
+Amjadroid I would assume the watch would work outside of the us as long as you had a way to unlock the device. You would have to check with your provider to see if they use the same radio bands as the watch. The e sim acts just like a regular sim card but its not a physical card, its built into the watch and cannot be taken out. And yes the watch has its own separate number that you can call directly or have another number forwarded to.
how do you use the data or anything like that ?? supposedly Spotify is android wearable but can't find a way to use it nor the GPS loads up or anything.
The remote connection was working well for me when I was using it but the guy at t mobile could not get it set up. It's either user error or the nexus 6p has issues with the software. I'm sure it will work fine on a new Samsung phone.
+cochsasuke1543 T mobile said you can buy it at their store outright without a contract, you can use it just by Bluetooth but if you going to do that i would just get the wifi version its cheaper and less bulky.
i saw a video on this watch and it didn't allow you to make calls. can you only make calls on the gear s2 and not gear s2 classic... is that the wifi version??
+Bridget McDaniel You probably saw the WiFi version, This one is the 3g version that has its own phone line. The WiFi version needs you to have it connected to your phone along with a Bluetooth headset to make calls.
+Antoine Rivers If your talking about as a stand alone,Only on the 3g because the wifi version does not have a built in speaker. But with the wifi version you need your phone and bluetooth headphones to just use the watch to make calls.
can i use a card in this watch so I can call and send without my phone connect! ? please answer and if yes please show us the card place and this things!
+Gippeum Lee Yes this watch has its own built in e sim card so you can make calls and send text without your phone, But it will require you to get a totally different phone number for the watch to use. There is nothing to show you because everything is inside the watch and cannot be opened.
+Amer Khudher I personally prefer the look of the Regular gear s2 but if you dress up all the time the classic would probably fit those outfits better.
The only feature I wish it had was tap to wake the screen other then that I absolutely love this watch over the moto 360. The screen is amazing and I love the the tizen OS. It's easy to use and easy to navigate. The Android wear OS just seemed very boring and unintuitive to me, I hated using it. Only drawback is very limited apps.
+HighTechCheck I'm curious. I've seen lots of reviews complain about the lack of apps with Tizen. I don't have a smartwatch at all, but people who have more experience with them seem to enjoy using apps on them. What apps do people seem to be using on their smartwatches and which apps (in your opinion) are missing from Tizen?
I dont know about everyone else but for me i was dissapointed by the lack of watch faces. From what i read alot of them are only available by region, which does not make any sense to me. Other then that i could get by with the apps that were currently available.
how much do you pay per month to make calls and stuff on it?? or is there not a fee for it? i already have a phone plan so does it just borrow off that?
It borrows data from your current plan . I pay about $10 a month to use my gear S on AT&T. But you can just use it paired to your device if you don't want to pay the additional $5 or $10 a month
+john wheel Its water resistant so if your out in the rain your safe but i wouldn't submerge it in water, that's just my opinion. This was the first 4g watch i have tested so it is a possibility. This is also the first watch i have seen that looked aesthetically pleasing to my eye . Its not to big and i like that it looks like a watch. With the current battery technology im sure any watch with 4g capability in this price range and features will most likely have around the same battery life. The screen type and cell signal are the biggest consumers of battery. If Samsung used a full color e ink display the watch battery life would increase tremendously.
T-Mobile fixed the connection issue... Mine works great now, but the Batt life seems to drain pretty fast. I did use it for a 1 hour run without the phone and gps on, might have something to do with it.
I definitely agree, Battery life needs to come way up for this to be usable, its a beautiful watch but its pointless to have to sacrifice usability just to maybe get you through the day. Im going to be returning this shortly, not worth $360
+HighTechCheck ouch! I find that with any new gadget the battery takes a while to settle in, at least a few charge cycles. will it get through the day? I hope so, with the demise of the urbane second edition this is the only 3g option now. thanks for the video.
From my experience... you can see the battery decrease quickly as your using it! Lost 4 percent on one 12 min phone call. Again, the watch is great otherwise, but it is hard for me to justify all the expense and monthly plan if I need my phone when the thing dies halfway through the day. If I could get a full day without the need of a phone, then I would keep it.
If bluetooth it to your phone it will become like the wifi only model. It will become an extension of your phone, so if you get a call on your phone you can answer it on your watch. Once its disconnected you can have your phones number forwarded to the watch so you can continue to receive calls from your phone.
Michael Ryan so how does the 3g version make and receive calls? built in sim? I don't know much about smartwatches. and I'm looking at a gear 2 3g, and I want to know if it will work properly. just confused and new to all of this stuff is all
Zachary Taylor the 3g model can make/receive calls using its own built in cellular radio or it can make/receive calls through a Bluetooth connection to your smart phone. so if you are connected to your phone via Bluetooth you can turn your cellular feature off and still make and receive calls through your phone. if your phone dies or you leave your phone home, you can turn on the cellular feature and make/receive phone calls through the watch's built in cellular radio apart from your phone.
I can get about 3-4 days with regular use and connect to the phone by bluetooth. around 2-3 as a stand alone. Yes its water resistant for washing hands or in the pool but dont go diving with it.
+Jin Madera If you want to use it to make calls without it being connected to your phone all you need to do is set it up on whatever carrier you have. You dont need any sim card, It has an e sim built into it so it can have its own dedicated line.
+Kishan Raaj: if u said Worth?..I would say yes',..for $300 ' this 'Smart Watch' has got everything(once you learn& know how to use it)u will realise how lot more functional compared with a normal digital G-Shock' watch,Cassio, or any other 'smart watch',& it's not square but it just looks like a normal watch.. to me anyway..
You would have to get the 3g version and it would need a line of service from your phone provider, then you can make and answer calls just like you would on your cellphone.
+HighTechCheck I have a Moto 360 for almost a month now. It's a pretty decent device and I like the Google integration. However, I'm a Samsung guy as well so I'm not closing doors for their products.
returned it because it didn't work as a standalone device. watch would not connect to network. said have to wait for Samsung to send a patch. no thanks. thanks for sharing though!
No they do not use a physical sim card, its all electronic . You would have a separate phone line for this lte model. If you have att or t mobile there is a way for it to share your main line though.
so let's say I live outside the US, and here we are using other carrier's sim card. Can i still make calls using the sim card that is in my Galaxy S7 but also connected to the gear. Can I talk on the gear instead of pulling out my phone from the pocket?
Yes you can still make calls using your s7 while it is connected to your gear by bluetooth and yes you can use your gear to talk instead of pulling your phone out of your pocket but you need to make sure you get the lte model to do that.
+Jamal nance Yea for me the battery technology just isnt there yet. I need my watch to last easily a full day with everything enabled. Im not going to sacrifice usage to eak out a days worth of use.
Ill be here just reply. If you have the wifi model, you cant make calls from the watch because it does not have a speaker built into it thats why it goes to your phone. If you have the lte model there is another problem as to why you cant make calls from the watch.
Sorry to disappoint you, but you actually can't do that. When it comes to activating service on a phone, it is considered a wearable, therefore it is activated as a "mobile internet line." Your phone, on the other hand, is a "voice line." You can try the watch, specially if you have Tmobile. If you already have voice lines, just add your watch plan, and the calling plan is relatively cheap. should be about $15, or more depending on how much data you want. Am not sure how much it is for other companies.
+ankhbayar nyamaa Its not my hands its the mount holding my camera. Its attached to the table on a long thick cable and when i move the whole mount moves. I know i need a new mount sorry about that.
