Don't get me wrong, the Frontier looks very nice, sporty and sleek, but you can never go wrong with a classic look. The Classic's look is as timeless - pun intended - as a white shirt and black suit and tie. It just never goes out of fashion and looks good on all occasions, making it the safe choice.
Trollnumber12 True. I think classic looks better but I wouldn't want to wear the classic one when I go to the gym or hiking :\ So I ordered the frontier.
Well, I continue to use my Garmin Vivoactive HR for those kinds of activities, but the Samsung uses standardized watch bands, so you could've just gotten a sporty rubber band for that kind of stuff. Anyway, enjoy your watch. It's awesome!
I am looking at getting this watch and am leaning towards the Classic style even though it seems a lot of people like the frontier more. I am really disappointed in the new model they revealed last week the Gear Sport. I think it looks strange. Was really hoping for a fully water proof S3 Classic but it seems like we might have to wait a year for the S4 Classic
While this is true, it isn't really good for all occasions. I wouldn't want to wear the Classic around a place like Detroit or Indianapolis with either the business bands or the sporty bands... it still screams "hey, i'm loaded, wanna come see what I have?" while the Frontier with the business bands can look perfectly fine for nearly any business occasion except maybe the "who's dick is bigger" ones. But even then, I'd say the utility of a smartwatch kind of beats out someone's 2 grand 'business' watch lol. And when you add the sports band, it just looks like an everyday watch. With either type of band, someone wearing the Frontier in one of those cities probably wouldn't get much of a passing glance. Sure they'll see the watch, but it doesn't scream "I'M LOADED COME MUG ME". Instead it calls out "I've got alittle cash but not much" to would be muggers. I'd rather not have my watch stolen and yet still be able to look professional at business meetings. Then again, concealed carry is kind of a decent deterrent to muggers once you go reaching for your wallet which 'accidentally' lifts up a portion of your shirt to show them the gun. Once they see that they tend to just say forget it and buzz off.
I ended up getting the Frontier after watching your video and a couple others showing how you can dress it up. I preferred it from the beginning as I don't like silver. But I was worried it would be too casual. Picked it up Friday and now I'm waiting for my bands. A few are coming today (one being the black crocodile) and I can't wait. Thank you for taking the time to do these videos.
perfect comparison, exactly what I was looking for. I guess I'll go with the frontier. I care more for the business look but you just showed you can have that
Amazing review! I just bought my Gear S3 Frontier yesterday and I love it and it's various capabilities! The customization ability for this watch is awesome and I just ordered green and black NATO straps, but after I watched this, I'll need to grab both black and especially brown leather straps!
i bought the frontier but honestly i feel i should have gone with the classic...classic looks way better in a business setting and would match more wrist band types and colors.
Great video showcasing the different bands. I was originally leaning toward the classic but now I'm going with the frontier. It looks great dressed up or down.
I need to thank you because this video is something I need. I am already considering about Frontier vs Classic verison. It´s nice to know, that 90% of what they looks like is made thanks to bands.
The classic has it own LTE. I have att s3 classic and my watch is able to make phone calls and texts WITHOUT phone. Not sure if this video is outdated or incorrect.
EBPMAN Tech Reviews seriously ikr. I personally never understood bands on smartwatches because most just look alright. But damn... Maybe because the watch itself looks so good
It's not.. at least I haven't found out away to make them compatible. I preferred the gear 3 over the Apple Watch despite the fact that I'm using an Apple mobile device. The frontier would've worth it more if pandora was available. In that case one would have the flexibility to leave their phone while on a jog r whatever.. & is able to listen to music
The only answer is both. Also the Classic now has LTE capabilities on Verizon. I have both through Verizon and they've been great. The red silicon band on the classic looks great!
nice video but its all a matter of personal opinion and tastes. I must say, the Frontier with the Brown Band and white watch face is a really good look. Just my opinion of course. :)
I can't say I actually ever made up my mind. I've been debating which one to get since they were first release and I think I pretty much 100% decided on the Frontier for out that year and was just waiting for a price drop or a special.... But when that price drop came and I finally had a special worth my interest once again I couldn't just say here I come Frontier... I love both, I still feel like I have no preference between them. But I decided on buying the classic earlier this week.... LOVE IT. Oddly I still say Gear 2 is my favorite smart watch (not Gear s2) just not in looks. These are the best in looks... Anyhow probably one of the worst decisions people would make for a watch that is around 250+ I think i've decided i'm going to try and get both.. these are such good looking watches to my eye and both of them seem like something I would want to wear even if there is no real difference between them other then casing. Frontier is a bit bigger and heavier which is noticeable to me.
To BBPMAN: you can also put a stainless steel band on both ⌚⌚👈🏾 at silver and black or just black red and black that you can buy from Amazon or ebay the only problem I have with the samsung gear 3 frontier is. Bixby 🎙️ it's doesn't respond as quickly as it's needs to be and the sound it's just not good any other wise the watch is good 👌🏾👍🏾👌🏾🤘🏾🤟🏾💯😁😷 2020
Took me a day to choose. The frontier is better looking but scratches are less visible on the classic. But I hate when buttons poke my hands and only the classic can do that since the frontiers buttons doesn't stick out. Chose the frontier...delivery around dec 7th here in sweden
Here is what I noticed on the frontier. Since I wear my watch during cross fit, I tend to press the buttons when doing pushups or any exercise that places your hands in that angle. I had the same problem with the LG urbane. It would turn off all the time. No issues with the frontier. Having black dress watches and chrome ones really helped with my decision. The bands make all the difference!
the leather (gear classic) band does end up wrinkling simply because it's leather. I haven't had a problem with it so far, I've had it almost a year now adn the connecting parts of the leather are starting to crack, so I'll probably end up getting a metal band, but I do a lot of rough stuff with the watch like camping and shooting so im fairly impressed with the band so far.
My personal bias, the brown bands look like they're straight out of 1973. The red band looked like it was stolen from Flava Flav (yeeeah boyyyyyy!!!) The white band reminds me of that Backstreet Boys video where they all wore nothing but white.. But the crocodile band on the Frontier looked sleek!! Think I'm going with that one!! Thanks!!
of all the comparison videos I've watched I just couldn't make up my mind. Since their release I was choosing the Frontier but was waiting for them to go down in price. But when they went on sale for 250 I said I finally had to make a decision and I chose the classic (it grew on me) but I never disliked the look of the frontier though. They maybe the same exact watch but gosh I love the looks of both of them. So I ended up getting both. I think Samsung hit it out of the park when it comes to the looks of their watch this generation. But I still wish they'd bring back the camera that has been missing since the Galaxy Gear 2. But in terms of looks I don't see how they can improve next generation as they pretty much addressed all my dislikes with the S2 with the exception of that missed camera.
Hey nice review sir👍, I had a few questions, 1. Does the bezel get scratched easily? 2. Will it be compatible with my LG G4 and how is the app selection?
Thank you for this video! Though I have to ask. Do you think you can try on some leather cuffs on both of them if you have any coming in? That's the last thing I need to see before I decide which one to get.
Can you please please make a video about how to get the watchland installed in gear s3? Since watchland app is not available in Galaxy App store. Thanks~~
I regret buying the frontier version... But there's just something about all black tho.. And the Classic one looks classy... What should I do? Can someone tell me that the frontier is better than the other one? And if you're thinking that I'm gonna buy a classic version, the answer is no lol xD I'm not gonna waste my money...
Frontier got more features than the classic. Got speakers where you can answer calls and speak just from the watch without even touching your smartphone. That’s come in very handy.
couple questions. I'd love to know own what brand that brown band was on the Frontier with the white stitching. as well as that face you had on it. second, it would be awesome if you gave us links or a video of where you get your bands from. FYI I just subbed you. great work
Don't like the leather straps on the classic , it creases and look worn out just after a couple day of use . took it back and exchanged for a Frontier , much nicer !
I was hoping to hear more about whether or not they had different features. This was less a review and more just showing what they look like with different bands.
Is the Frontier more bulky? That could make the Classic more attractive anyway, for comfort (for someone who doesn't wear a watch at all that much so may find putting a big bulky thing on his wrist uncomfortable). LTE is interesting though - but in the UK? It's hard to find any information on how this can work without having two phone numbers. My first thought on the Chronos was "Scuba Diving". It's not clear whether the bezel rotates to indicate start of dive time, but the large display and glove compatible dial make it look like that kind of watch. I expect many divers use computer watches nowadays. (I've not dived for quite some time).
Richard Corfield the frontier is a bit larger. But not by much. It follows the same design language as the high end watches do that are larger on the wrist. Having had smaller size watches, I now prefer the larger watches. Ever if you have a small wrists or hands. The ability to change watch straps is also very useful. It will not work as a dive watch since it is not. Certified for the depth required
@@Themata I went with a TAG Connected next, but still like wearing my Gears as they're actually better. Gonna look into the Garmin. Is it a good watch?
Can you make calls and recieve on the classic if you have your phone in your pocket? Not interested in having a seperate plan just trying to decide which is right for me.
Great videos, I've been watching all these to see if I can learn more about my frontier. Just wondering, what watchface is that on your frontier, it looks awesome. Thanks, keep it up.
dodgerno1fan well i decided that i will buy this in next year probably cause i will get nice computer like for 700 euro when 2 years ago this computer were worth about 1200 euro haha with i7,hd8770m and touch screen (samsung ative book 8) :) because for now laptop will be more useful
I looked at both and the classic's bezel seems to have a different clicking mechanism? it didn't seem as nice as the Frontier. Is this your experience as well or was it a one off? I prefer the classic look but the bezel seemed harder to rotate and didn't have that nice clicking feel
Why doesnt he mention much about what can do more? If its just what looks ok in an office thats a good clip. If its unsure whats best. Leaves you guessing.
I'll probably forget that I made this comment in 20 minutes but if you ever see this, can you show what the frontier looks like with the classic's original band? Please reply to this comment if you do. Thanks!
Awesome video! Except you never put a brown band on the classic, haha. I'd love to see how a few browns mix with the stainless look. I wear a Submariner usually and I'm conflicted, would love it if the classic came with black accents like a Sub does.
I have over 30 bands coming in next week. Excited to get some really nice high end bands from a Swiss company. Once that vid goes up I will have the brown on there as well
Wilfredo Vargas whole new plan. The watch will read both, it's own line and your cellphone. Unless it goes on standalone mode it'll read its own data plan. So yes, you will need to add in a line and a plan for the LTE version. The Frontier has Bluetooth and LTE options, Bluetooth being cheaper for obvious reasons.
The 46mm is the size of the watch itself. Has nothing to do with the bands. Mind you, I just had to send my moto 360 2gen back, the moto was 42mm and it looks small on my wrist. so 46mm would be preferred for me. It's a matter of personal reference. Now, keep in mind; the Frontier is rugged for a reason, it can withstand the impacts whilst doing activities, such as work related, workout, hiking, etc etc. . Classic is just for style. Both have 5g differences in weights. Hope this cleared up some of dilemma we all have as well. lol. For the wrist size, I suggest using a string, and put it around your wrist. Once you do, pinch the string that meet the other string around your wrist and measure it in ruler with a string. Google- measuring wrist with a string.
09TOLBERT so what did you buy, the frontier or classic? I'm considering one for my wife as her birthday present surprise but don't know which one to go with. Maybe classic with a yellow or red band. Suggestions please on what will works best for women?
Hello sir, im from the philippines and there is no LTE version here of the gear s3. I just want to ask you one thing about the version with wifi and BT. In wifi, in case you left you phone in your house and it was connected in your home wifi, and you have with you your s3 at your friends house with your s3 connected to your friends wifi. Will it still work that you can receive calls and mesafes and other notifications even if your phone and s3 is connected with different wifi? I hope you can answer my question. Thanks alot and more power to you sir.
Can I use a fast charger with the cradle? Don't want to use a separate charger specifically for the watch so was wondering if I can use the S7E charger safely?
Ricardo Valenzuela I just got the Frontier and have not tested the range yet, but my Gear Fit2 had about 100 feet I'd say.. I have an S7 Edge and work in a warehouse setting, was still getting notifications over Bluetooth from the other side of the warehouse.. never set up the Wi-Fi on it, I did for the Frontier. supposedly you can do a lot over Wi-Fi, but not answer calls.
Dawn I like the classic with the original band but the frontier doesn't look bad either especially with that brown band, omg Cronoxswiss who the F design that watch?? Ugly 🤢 Classic is just like the Apple Watch Bluetooth version, frontier is available with LTE 🤔🤔.
Classic is still the best looking smartwatch..Ive got a new Galaxy 46mm I wear on a variety of silicone straps for work and sports and now lm after a classic on brown leather for the evening .It;s prettier than the galaxy tbh Btw dont want ro be a pedant but when talking about the buttons on the classic they, resemble the pushers on a chromograph ,rather than a chronometer but we know what you meant
Jeffrey Mark definitely go with the Gear S3. I have the Moto 360 (2nd gen), and Android wear is very clunky compared to the smoothness of the Tizen OS.
