Tests should be done with an activated sim card, to stimulate the entire definition of having a phone

Here's a day in the life of me with my samsung galaxy note 10. (I dont care if u dont care) (Yesterday) 22:30 I plugged in my fast charger, hoping it wont glitch out and be at around 10% in the morning. (Today) 07:00 I wake up, first thing i do is make the bed, and then i get dressed. 07:20 I usually eat breakfast at school, so i get packed up for school and review through all my books hoping i did not forget to do any homework. Thankfully i almost never forget my homework. 07:45 I leave my house, and i have a very short way to school, i go to the store along the way to get some food for school. 08:00 I have lessons, my phone isn't powered on at the time. 14:25 I end my lessons, power on my phone, and call mom to know where she is. Then i walk home, she picks me up from school, or i have to go to her workplace. 17:45 This might sound ridiculous but i do my homework before 17:45 and i only play games for around 30 minutes. At this time i have dinner ready. 17:50 I use my phone for youtube while eating dinner. 20:00 At around those hours, i use my phone to scroll through tiktok, youtube shorts or something. The battery is pretty drained. 22:30 I go to bed, and do the same thing as in the beginning. If u read this far, here's a cookie! 🍪 My phone's battery drained kinda fast from this, so like this comment to pay respects for my battery life! 100 Likes if i should make a weekend edition!

Tbh I have the iPhone XS Max and compare to the other phones my battery seems tiny Apple needs to make it bigger but still it did good

I think this was a really good test I think there were a few more things you could’ve done though, probably could’ve turned off Bluetooth, blue backgrounds and backgrounds with darker colors use less energy on oled displays - so all of them having the same background would be nice. Games also vary phone to phone significantly in terms of graphical fidelity, and frame rate, some locked at 30 or 60 and some support the full refresh rate so could go beyond 60 depending on the screen or if it used double buffered v-sync, and sometimes choose lower resolutions than what your phone screen is - so it could be an unfair test depending on the game. Also most people I know ask why the screen looks blurry and eventually figure out it’s not running at its native resolution and they change it, if it’s not already at native res, plus why pay for extra pixels you’re not using - all phones should’ve ran native resolution especially considering the iPhone did. Also restarting the two phones wasn’t fair and probably not necessary, you could’ve just readjusted the brightness - or restarted all the phones to make sure it was consistent, also there is a glitch on the RU-vid app which causes it to drain batter when not in use on some phones sometimes. It’s possible that these wouldn’t have made that much of a difference anyway - apart from resolution, but I figured maybe I’d have some helpful information, anyway great video and very interesting results

To make this test fairer you should set 60Hz on OnePlus 7 Pro as well. As you said about the brightness at the beginning of the video. And It doesn’t matter if people buy this phone because of the 90Hz display, people but Samsung’s phones because of it’s brightness too. Also, I would like to know how the refresh rate impacts on the battery life!! Your videos are amazing dude!

when you put OnePlus 7 pro into 60Hz refresh it bumps the battery life quite noticeably , fair fight tho

OnePlus 7 Pro should set refresh rate to 60Hz instead of 90Hz to make it more fair since all phones are using 60Hz. 90Hz uses more battery since the screen panel refresh 90 frames per second all the time.

Hi Aaron, great video! I have an interesting idea for a battery test for you- battery saving. Let's take 4 devices of the same phone (for example the OnePlus 7 Pro, Galaxy S10 or Pixel 3 XL): The first device will power with maxed out screen resolution and hz. The second device will power with the default resolution. The third will operate with battery saving mode turned on. And the forth will also operate with battery saving mode, and will also turn off Bluetooth, location services and lower the brightness of the display. Anyone else would find that interesting?

Again the resolution on the XS Max is more than the others so it's unfair to it. Put the resolutions of phones to what they're advertised as. Which is their max resolution. Companies can't just say something and put another resolution when you get the phone anyway. Great video but I really think you should set the displays to maximum resolution.

First let me thank you for your time for posting these videos. So I understand why you set the lux and screen resolution, but alot of people just use the phone as is straight of the box. They also let autobrightness take effect. These results can show some difference and I'm glad you spent the time to post these videos. I just feel like your altering the results by forcing some output constraints.

@Mrwhosetheboss how would you think, an S10 would stand out in this battery test compared to these phones? I'm not a fan of big/large phones, so I'm thinking of buying an S10 cuz of that. What's your professional opinion on the batter life on that device?
