I heard the recent firmware update on the AW3423DWF didn't fix the HDR issues and that's a solid no considering that's a major selling point of these QD-Oled's.. Also 165hz rather than 175hz like the other's
I got my AW3423DWF yesterday and im blown away. I don't even notice the color fringing. In games i also noticed much more detail that i never saw before. So im really happy with it.
Don't forget to drop back in after the image retention starts to be annoying. And do write down how long you use it and for what app/game at a time. Like Day 1, played game 1 for x hours. game 2 for y hours, game 3 for z hours...etc.. Cheers edit: The QD oled is the worst possible tech of oled as you can confirm by the latest Rtings info. The image retention is quick to appear and even with those reset steps to help it out, it still loses quite fast to the image retention / burn in.
@@tommyb6611 I wish there won't be any as I do the refresh every 4 hours and use around 50% brightness I find more than that too much but even if burn in appears I will get a new panel from Dell.I use it around 8 hours per day btw
I got my G8 yesterday. I upgraded from 2560 X 1080 LG IPS 65 Hz monitor, and I am absolutely floored by it. Insanely buttery smooth, and colours so vivid it feels like I was using a gray-scale monitor by comparison. Not much brighter than my previous monitor at 100% but smaller areas are crazy bright. The black is almost disconcertingly so
I recently bought the G8 OLED after watching this review and monitoring the price for a while (pun not intended). Price dropped, bought the monitor and I admit, it looked incredible. For the 3 minutes I used it anyway. The unit I bought had the most intrusive "coil whine" i've ever heard, slicing through my head with different levels of amplitude and frequency depending on what was sat in the middle of the screen. So just a small warning to anyone buying one, if this happens to you - RMA it immediately.
For anyone trying to decide I can at least speak to the OLED G8 a little. I've owned 3 of them now (in an attempt to resolve issues with each) and whilst the monitor is generally excellent I'm not sure I'd buy it in its current state. I won't talk about the monitor's positives because I feel the review already covers those. My first one has the bug where the volume increases by 1 every couple of hours. It also has a bug where it wouldn't detect a DP signal when turned on. So to be clear on steps: If I shutdown my computer and turn the monitor off with the power button on the remote, then turn the PC and monitor on (order doesn't matter) it won't detect a DP signal. To fix this I have to change the input to something else entirely, wait 15s for the monitor to say there isn't an input detected, then flick back to DP. I sent it back hoping both issues would be resolved. My second monitor did NOT have the volume bug, which is great. However, it also has the issues with DP signal. At this point I tried a HDMI 2.1 cable instead. HDMI does not have the wake up bug but on the latest Nvidia drivers it has an even worse issue where the screen goes black for 1-2 seconds every few minutes when playing games. This issue doesn't occur if you use an older Nvidia driver and set the panel colour to 12 bit (even though it doesn't support 12 bit). This is an unacceptable compromise to me because I'm often playing newest releases that require the latest Nvidia drivers, so I sent it back. My third monitor also doesn't have the volume bug which is leading me to believe this was fixed on later monitor revisions, though it could just be luck of the draw. However, this monitor unfortunately also the same issues described above regarding DP signal and HDMI blackouts. Overall it's a real shame because these little issues are tarnishing what would be an otherwise absolutely excellent monitor.
I've had the Alienware AW3423DW for a few months now and just absolutely love it. The amount of detail and clarity you get just blows LCD displays out of the water.
same.. had to return mine it coz the amazon seller I bought it from was selling it as a brand new, but it was an obvious refurb. Now I'm torn between the DW and the MSI. I really want that MSI's RBG on the front but the DW HDR performance. I don't care about the stand as I'll use VESA anyway.
Do you notice any VRR flicker? My AW3423DW flickers every few minutes which can be quite annoying, I'm trying to just ignore it seeing as otherwise its a flawless monitor.....0 image retention after a few months worth of use and 0 fan noise it's just literally a milisecond flicker every so often but it can get pretty annoying when looking for it, tried turning G-sync off, different HDR modes, turning VRR off in windows....nothing seems to get rid of it :(
Can you share what settings you use / what modes you use it in? I just picked my DW up and want to make it look as vibrant as possible and the blacks as deep as possible
I bought the Samsung OLED G8 (after watching this awesole video!), I don't want a noisy Monitor. (Tried the first Alienware monitor when it released) So far I'm really happy with it. I did not even bother to connect the monitor to the internet (and will not do it till I may need a firmware update) It is the best looking monitor I had so far. Connectivity is really weak on this one at least when it comes to USB extra ports. (and micro hdmi is anyoing) They also got some problems where sometimes a rainbow line appears on the bottom but thats fixable with software. So in the end I will probably keep it unless more problems start to appear, pretty happy about the image quality but it had some other (solveable) problems that such an expensive monitor should not have imho.
I've been really tempted to jump in and get the DWF. Not sure though I'm leaning towards waiting for a second generation of OLED monitors before jumping in.
I think in ways that this review is a little bias. The DW is ridiculous with the G-Sync Ultimate! The HDR is on a completely different level. However, if you’re on console, don’t bother with it with not having HDMI 2.1. You will only be able to play at 100 FPS with the HDMI 2.0 and won’t get the 175 FPS as a PC with DisplayPort. To each their own but the DW is a beast and the extra $200 for their G-Sync Ultimate is where it’s at!
Launch day AW3423DW owner here after using the monitor on a daily basis, 6-8 hours a day, I now have image retention of the Win10 taskbar at the bottom and it doesn't go away with pixel and panel refresh.
You should have enabled the option for the Taskbar to go away when you are not using it,I thought of the possibility of it happening to me some weeks before I bought the monitor and starting using that option.I hope mine won't face the same fate as yours
I've had my DW since my last year and I haven't got any image retention yet but I hid the taskbar. Also, I use my monitor for about the same about of hours a day as you do.
I can't understand why it's still being called "bad screen coating". That is one of my most favorite parts of that monitor since i DONT WANT an anti-glare coating that will just wash out all colors. I couldn't care less about reflections in my gaming room. It's just a matter of "what is right for you" and neither good nor bad and I would like to see a more neutral wording on that matter. Loved the comparison though - still on the fence whether i wanna get the Alienware. The complains about coilwhine are just not stopping..
i would say the Alienware gets a bad wrap since the LG C2 coating is so good, i have both the AW3423DW and a 65 in C2, both are great but the alienware coating when in DIRECT sunlight/light ends up looking worse than the C2 but as long as its not directly in front they both look great.
The coating is bad because it doesn't have a polarizer to limit light reflecting off the panel pixels, making contrast worse than 200 dollar ips monitor during daytime use, even if no light is directly on it. You want to use either of these panels close or in pitch black environment. If you want oled for the deep black, and plan to use it during daytime , then your options are LG tv or LG monitor. The monitor does not have a glossy finish .
@@sogetsu60 Thats quite exaggerated. I have the OLED G8 and to agree with you I would have to define "daytime use" as using it outdoors when sun is shining and "pitch black" as a room lit with some hue bulbs at 100% behind the monitor. Yes, using a BenQ Screenbar or other lights in front of and shining towards the screen does noticeably raise black levels, maybe even more than my previous IPS monitor. But a normally lit room with no light sources directly in front of the monitor do not raise the black levels anywhere near best IPS levels for me.
I agree. Just get blackout curtains and turn off the lights and enjoy the monitor properly. It's better to control the light than try to fix it with some coating that will wash out the colors.
Older video I know but I had the Samsung monitor for about two weeks after the second return due to HDR and input issues I returned it for the Alienware3423DWF I have never been happier. Although I do miss the versititally of the inputs of the samsung.
@@farxiyalehsan331 Mate, still loving it! The more you get to know it the more you love it. To be able to stream Netflix, RU-vid or Amazon Prime on a fantastic near perfect OLED sceen during work breaks is just another level bliss!!! The speakers on it are quite competent too. The only drawback is that the 175HZ can only be achieved either via Micro HDMI or DP ports and not USBC (I am actually surprised that USBC only supports 120HZ on this) whereas my laptop doesnt come with full sized DP.

For the wholesome functionality and experience that it delivers, I would say its a no brainer when compared to the DW which is noisy and seems like last gen esp with its port selection (no USBc and no charging port) and the GSync ultimate which no one really cares abt these days, GSync compatible is good enough for almost all of the modern games that we play these days + in some of the recent comparison videos, G8 OLED has hands down beaten the DW & DWF, here it one of the latest comparison: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aMa5mo-v_Aw.html&ab_channel=MonitorsUnboxed

@@soulman434 well as with pretty much everything in the tech world that is mass produced, there is always going to be defective products. @maurice2428 yah I've been thinking it could be different fan makers etc . After the hub fan noise reports I've even tried listening right by the screen during a long hdr gaming session and still can't hear anything etc
Got my DWF two weeks ago and since I use it a lot for desktop work, the warranty from Dell can be a bit more reassuring. The feedback from Reddit seems to indicate that replacements are likely to be refurbed units so fingers crossed. Not taking my chances tho. I’m using black backgrounds and hiding taskbars/desktop icons in Windows, menu bars and docks in Mac. I use an Nvidia gaming laptop so the HDR1000 mode hack isn’t terrible for now. Hope Dell does fix it. And with my luck, in Australia, JB HiFi just discounted the DW to basically the same price as the DWF from Dell. And Samsung just dropped the price of the OLED G8 here so it’s cheaper than the DW from JB. With that said, the DWF with the discounts from OzBargain was still slightly cheaper. And I’d still take the DWF for the warranty and full sized ports anyway. Oh. And for PS5 users, despite only having HDMI 2.0, in Console Mode, I’m able to accept 1440p 60/120 HDR VRR. I was waiting for the MSI originally but I don’t think HDMI 2.1 is needed in this case since the PS5 is able to take full advantage of the monitor (sans 21:9 support)

I personally can’t stand the silver bezel surround on the G8. Like playing a game in a picture frame. Went with the DW as gotta support the OG and I still like having the g-sync ultimate module. 😊 Also I’m not forgetting the general QC issues that Samsung have had for years now, my last TV from them developed a cluster of stuck pixels, my partners Samsung flip phone broke within 3 months and my G8 not OLED got returned as it was so wobbly I couldn’t use it, Alienware and Dell in general are solid products with excellent QC and warranty. I expect what ever comes next from LG will also be excellent as I’m now on my third LG OLED and I’ve never had a single issue (apart from the icons rubbing off the remotes within 12 months).
Why the DW instead of the DWF? ...hmm.. the DW has an extra 5 ms of latency caused by the g-sync module...although the DW has better has better hdr eotf tracking compared to the DWF.
How on earth do these companies get away with not calibrating these monitors before they leave the factory? After all, if I buy a new car, I do not expect that it will require tuning once I take possession of it.
I got a refurbished AW3423DWF for $650 and adore it. I'm not paying $1000+ for a monitor. I wall mounted it to an arm and bought special wipes for cleaning the screen.

Thanks for the review :) I've been watching all of your video on Oled starting with the oldest and now I've a great overview of the market, that is really helpfull. I think I'll be waiting for the Gen2 panel in 2024 else the G8 here is the cheapest of all at 999,90€ VAT included.
Never been this excited for the MSI monitor. Oled? check. KVM (switch personal vs work laptop)? check. USB-C Alt (display-port + PD charging)? check. HDMI 2.1 (for console and TV stick)? check. 1000 nits HDR? check. I think screen performance is like cpu silicon lottery, hopefully it won't be too bad. but the rest of the features are what I need!
I've just purchased the Samsung G8 on sale here in the UK, along with discounts it cost £849.99 This makes is the cheapest of the four for me, bar possibly the DWF which was a similar price with discount. As to me it's the best looking anyway, and is seen as the best all around in terms of features, I think I've got a "bargain" .... All things considered
@@Pretender_Gamer my order got delayed until this Wednesday, but I'll come back and let you know my thoughts. I purchased the Samsung Sb98 Oled TV at Christmas and ever since then everything I look at seems to lack contrast and depth. I am very pleased with my DWF but I use it in true black setting with contrast having to be above 80% to achieve a proper punch. I see in many guides that around 67% is the best but it provides a more bland picture.
Dw the winner. It’s on sale. Best hdr. And the input lag is great with gsync enabled (he really needs to retest with gsync enabled). The noise has been fixed on the latest revisions (which you get when buying today). Also who gets a 2k widescreen for console gaming?
Yeah the DWF makes the most sense for most people I think.. Samsung G8 sucks… The colors are overly saturated, the TV tuning and built in TV features are useless at 16:9 ratio with black bars on each side. Also the G8 had really terrible HDR performance on the model I had. I was able to pick the DWF for $950 on sale from DELL. Oh and the micro and mini ports on the G8 just makes no sense, and they don’t even give you both cables in the box. You only get the mini display port and not the micro HDMI.. smh.. great comparison as always guys!!!
you're giving false information. TV content works in 21:9 format. The content of every TizenOs supported application is like this. Also hdr performance is bad if you use amd, but it is great for nvidia users. If you set the colour saturation colour setting to 18, it looks the same as dell qd-oled. The only place where the G8 is bad is the price, it is quite good in other matters. by far the worst hdr performance is dellaw3423dwf. Where Samsung is good :no fan noise. No coil whine. Best srgb samsung. 12 bit 175 hz. Build quality is the best. There are no scratches that come with screen protector. It has smart tv and works in 21:9 format.
I tried 6 DWF models ane all had coil whine from bad power plus micro scratches on the panel! I bought OLED G8 silent and no scratches! But it has known issues I hope Samsung will fix these with new FW! I paid approx. 990 USD in Czechia with special offer.
I'm still baffled when someone says "gaming is a non issue when it comes to burn in" 99% of games have HUDs that will 100% burn in fast for people playing a lot of the same game. HUDs are exactly as bad as doing excel work on an OLED...
RTings recently released a preliminar result of a massive test with OLED they are doing showing that the QD OLED is way more vulnerable to burn-in white colors than WOLED due to the three colors needing to be bright to reproduce it.
Usually , people who can afford these panels ,change them at least once every 3 years. The Alienware , offering burn in warranty, knew what they were doing.
Samsung has a massive advantage on availability. Outside EU and US, it really get's harder and harder to get the Dell, but Samsung has such an amount of worldwide significance than even smaller, third world countries get to see the G8 OLED. And so I bought it because importing the Dell here would be insane cost wise.
On the same boat as you brother. There was only one piece available in the country and I nicked it faster than a rabbit caught in heat. Yet to unbox it though, excited!
G8 OLED is the best one anyway. The featureset and build quality is robust af compared to the others. And it doesn't lag behind all too significantly in any one of the other relevant aspects, the only impediment is its appalling AMD underperformance, I really hope it's possible for AMD to remedy this driver side.
Thanks for the video.. I happen to have a offer of 668 .- for the Samsung oled… it’s the cheapest one from all the others at the moment in my country and not the worst.. so win win 😅
The MSI seems to be the best of the bunch if you aak me. The Samsung at $1500 seems absurd. No way Id recommend that one. If the Samsung supported 240 Hz, it would get some consideration,
Ill def be going with the DW. The HDR implementation seems better than the DWF, it has a better warranty than the G8, and looks better than the MEG, as well as having a (slightly) higher refresh rate too. I’m just hoping the fan noise isn’t too bad.
I just brought back the G8. MAJOR FATAL FLAW... there's no audio out other than Bluetooth connectivity. There are both upstream and downstream USB-C ports, but neither can be used as a primary audio out and are treated as source ports. This means the only option you have is Bluetooth, and there is considerable lag. I tried different BT adapters / modules along with some software to treat the lag, nothing worked. You would need to have the audio output come from the source (computer, console). In some cases this is impossible. Really sucks, because the G8 interface is super classy and treated essentially like a smart TV with built in apps and TV channels. But good luck listening to any of that on the built in monitor speakers :) I'm honestly surprised no one has talked about this. Seriously a major design flaw. All they needed was a USB-A or 3.5mm jack. The choice of mini ports and no audio out on the G8 and the lack of 4k on the G9 make Samsung's premium monitor lineup a joke. They could have the best monitors in the game had they just been more practical about the design choices. Oh... and Dell sources the panels for the DWF from Samsung, so the DWF and G8 have the same panel.
Heard that the AW3423DWF just got a serious update regarding HDR this week. Can you revisit the update and tell if all the issues have been solved? Also I am looking to buy a new gaming monitor, can you compare the AW3423DWF with the new update vs the Samsung OLED G8?

I don't know what loud fans this guy is talking about but I never ever noticed in my time while playing everything under the sun with it. In 3-5 years when this monitor gives out, i'll be getting another one.

Got my G8 oled and after the firmware update its one of the best monitor as of current market.I returned my c2 tv that gave me black screen on pc and sonos earc sound turn on and off.
I wouldn't call them amazing at all. Way too expensive, issues with firmware, non-RGB layouts, bad coating. I would probably not buy any of them for half the current prices. Hoping for next generation to be decent.
Thanks for this video! Like many others, this is exactly the video I'd been waiting for. I was largely waiting for the Samsung, but have been worried about bad reviews from buyers on the Samsung product page.
@@mukkaar I ended up buying the Samsung. The smart TV stuff is fine, EXCEPT it's much harder than it should be to simply switch inputs. As far as I can tell, the remote doesn't even have an input select button.
@@ericfallabel9201 I just think it's totally useless, you don't need it on pc. And consoles also work as streaming platforms. I just cannot find actual reason to include it on monitor.
I'm using OLED G8 for entertainment but productivity as well, mostly programming. I guess I kind of decided to test it. QD-OLED should be less prone to the burning in comparison to WOLED since the light intensity doesn't have to be so high to archive the same result. In any case I will update you when any kind of burning occurs but I don't expect it to be any time soon. Also I'm one of those people who barely notice font rendering inaccuracy. I'm kind of hoping the issue will be fixed by the OS at some point as these monitors are getting quite popular but so far it definitely wasn't something to discourage me from using the monitor.
@@Gamezone-ze3oz Well at least theoretically it should be the opposite. Whatever, as I said I'm doing my own testing. But it's not like I'm trying to destroy my monitor as fast as possible. I'm using pixel shifting feature, system and most other apps are using dark theme (I prefer it anyway) and the brightness is set to the level comfortable for my eyes. Just a regular user who uses the monitor for work and gaming. We'll see how it goes.
Maybe it's just down to my individual setup/settings, but ever since I upgraded from a 2070 Super to a 6800 XT with the AW3423DW, I don't think adaptive sync is working fine nor properly. In most games at startup, the screen will flicker, the framerate starts quite low (say around 15-20) and would gradually go up to the max the system can in a span of a minute or two. In other games, espcially Fortnite, they would simply just crash after a while and will continue crashing until I disable adaptive sync, then it's fine. Also, there's a weird quirk (for lack of a better term) where I don't have the option to select a standard 16:9 1440p resolution without adding a custom resolution in the Adrenalin software.
I got my dw back in May of last year. It's been awesome and have tons of hours on it. The only issue is the annoying oled refresh pop-up comes up while gaming, horrendous when playing a fps shooter. I even told it to not pop up anymore but it still does
Unfortunately, it's hard to get an Alienware that doesn't have fine scratches and smudges on the panel which can be seen with a bright light or torch. It appears to be due to the way they are packaged for shipping. Would be good if you could inspect the monitors for such blemishes as part of your review. I had to return my DWF for refund due to this reason. Would love to know if the Samsung and MSI have similar issues.
Samsung doesn't have the issue because they apply a peelable screen protector in shipping. All my DWFs came scratched (exchanged multiple times for coil whine, never got a good one). MSI doesn't have a screen protector either, so most likely will have the same issue as the AW.
@@dinospumoni8255 Thanks mate. I learnt that about the Samsung after watching an unboxing video. Crazy to think the other brands don't use the screen protector - it obviously doesn't affect sales enough so they can't be bothered fixing the issue. Incidentally I also had the coil whine with the DWF - I had to keep the lights enabled at the back, otherwise the whine was very noticeable. I'm getting a refund for the DWF and am waiting delivery of the Samsung G8. Fingers crossed.
@@greenjoyce3001 that's what I did, returned my DWF for the G8. It is dead silent, no coil whine and no fan noise as it doesn't have one. Screen arrived in perfect condition too, not a single blemish even under bright lighting. There are some issues though you should be aware of. The monitor will randomly fail to wake from sleep and it seems to lock up Windows when it does. Some units also have a problem where the volume overlay will randomly pop up on screen without any input. My first unit did that, my second didn't. Seems no one can make a perfect version of this panel.
@@dinospumoni8255 Great to hear you got a perfect screen, free of blemishes. 👍 Thanks for mentioning those issues. I did read about some of those, and consider them fairly minor, although the volume overlay popping up in the middle of a game could be pretty distracting. I can see why you'd ask for a replacement if it happened often enough. Hopefully a future firmware update can fix those issues. On another matter - as a fellow enthusiast who is pedantic about their screen, how do you keep the panel clean and free of dust? I've never had a quality screen before so never bothered thinking about this, but this purchase has changed that. 😊 I recently purchased this product (Flawless Screen Cleaner Spray with Microfiber Cleaning Cloth) after reading some positive comments in a forum. Last thing I want is to make fine scratches on it by not cleaning correctly, so keen to hear if you do anything special. Cheers mate!
@@greenjoyce3001 I have a lot of experience with that. The best advice I can give you is try NOT to have to wipe the screen down with cloths/sprays if you can. So, keep fingers off the screen, try not to sneeze, or cough in the direction of the screen. What I do when dust starts to build up is use an electric compressed air duster to blow off as much dust as possible. I use electric to save money on buying the canned ones. I think I bought one for like $30 off Amazon and I use that to remove as much dust as possible from the screen. If there's some more stubborn dust or grime on it that doesn't come off with the air duster, then I'll extremely gently wipe the screen with a DRY microfiber cloth, I use the brand magic fiber (large sized ones) from Amazon as those are highly praised for high end camera equipment, and if those are good enough for cameras that cost thousands of dollars, it's good enough for the screen. I try to avoid all sprays as much as possible because the coating on the QD-OLEDs screens tend to streak/smudge a lot with any liquids but if you do need to use some liquid, spray a little onto the fiber cloth, and as gently as you can, wipe off the grime in a circular pattern until you remove whatever was on the screen. I use this only for spot cleaning. The spray I use is Calyptus Screen Cleaner, also from Amazon as it has no alcohol or ammonia which could damage screen coatings. I find it doesn't streak either, but glossy screens like the G8 will always have a bit of it, so as long as you wipe gently in a circular pattern it buffs right out without scratching. TLDR: Try to keep hands off the screen, air dusters are your friend, only use spray + high quality fiber cloth as necessary for spot cleaning.
You keep saying the AW3423DW has fan noise but it just doesn't. I use every day in my quiet office and have never heard it. I can't hear it with my ear against the panel. As I understand it you got an early batch with a defective fan.
After having the DWF for around a month or two, the biggest negatives for me personally have been the stand and the very faint coil whine that has developed recently. I suspect its something that might develop over time, and really only noticeable when the room gets more on the quiet side. The stand on the other hand prevents the monitor from being flush up against a wall and it causes everything to stick out way closer to the user than one would like. Its just obnoxious. Ended up tossing it back in the box in favor of a 3rd party solution, which is less than ideal.
Strange, I've never had sound issues with my DW (non F) and it should be worse than yours no? My CPU is liquid cooled and I have a 4070Ti which is a very quiet GPU as well so it's not like I wouldn't be able to notice.
@@cosmic_gate476 Some people can pick on certain pitches while others can't. For example, my wife can't hear it, but I can, even with ambient noise. It also likely depends on your monitor settings (cranking up the brightness with HDR and a higher refresh rate for example will generate more heat and use more power, thus increase the likelihood of hearing the coil whine).
@@supanjibobu372 The looks are fine, the issue is how far it shoves the monitor out. Depending on desk width and location (up against wall for example), this becomes a problem.
just bought the Samsung G8. Loving it so far. my only issue is that since my TV is also a Samsung TV. when I use the controller it crosses signals with both monitor and TV. Its a bit annoying lol
If it only had a higher resolution. Like the same resolution as the LG ultragear widescreen of previous generations. 3840x1600 would’ve been nice and with the newly announced DP2.1 standard that would made it possible to hit 240hz on that resolution
I wish more RU-vidrs would talk about over clocking monitors. Especially panels like LG 3440x1440 42inch monitor… If that can be overclocked in the settings and run a stable 3840x1600… it would be worth the price
My G8 has been causing my computer to constantly crash and restart after waking the screen from sleep. I never thought monitor could do something like that but the G8 definitely does.
Please stop saying the AW3423DW has high processing delay... This is only true if G-sync is disabled wich is not how anyone would use it. I've wasted so much time researching this only because of your claims.
6:36 That's a dealbreaker for me. I'll probably keep waiting for an OLED monitor with a better screen coating, as the room with my desktop isn't going to work with a $1000+ monitor. I'll just keep saving up with my Mini LED monitors...
Tim - have you tried the game hdr setting for the dw or the dwf? The 1000 peak mode, despite the quick fixes, still has some washed out coloration for me, so I've been using the game hdr setting and I find it quite good. I'm surprised I haven't seen or read much about it, only the true black or the 1000 peak. Thanks!
@@ultrawidetechchannel Yep. I'm on a 32 16:9 atm and a 34 UW is just a sidegrade, i do not like the loss of verticality on it at all. 40" UW would be wider but same height which is perfect, or a straight up 42 16:9 but it's such a low offering or insane pricing, shame.
Good old Dell limited the warranty to one replacement within the 3 years and have told me the remaining year in my warranty means nothing. I'm considering just downgrading i don't think burn in is worth the hassle as much as i LOVE the deep blacks and super fast response times i use my monitor a lot so it needs to be able to withstand heavy usage.
@@RednGoneI think it differs between monitors. I have the same g8 oled. O fan noise. Text look good, not 4k quality but not horrible. The only thing I can agree with is the grey bezel.
As of today, they're essentially all the same price with black friday deals. I'm about to order the samsung but it is annoying I have to also order an adapter because of the micro ports. I'm having a hard time understanding their reasoning for using those ports.
As owner of an 34" IPS, I didn't want to upgrade to the same size. I went for the C2 in 42" and love it so far. When setting it to 21:9, which the monitor supports, its basically an 38" 21:9 ultrawide. I got mine for 799 CHF, around 870 USD. Whatever monitor you choose, OLED truly rocks.
I’m not gonna lie I was upset reading about how happy everyone was with a 42”screen. Then I got it myself, and holy shit is it amazing! The hdr and vivid colors of OLED make every game so smooth. I mounted it on my wall.
I just bought the LG 42 C2... 4K if I want to - or 3840x1600 21:9 34 like ultra wide Mode 3140x1440 is just not enough for 34. Paid just 800€ Should last me 1-2 Years until next gen Running 10900k 5,2 all core + 4090
still a year out from buying a monitor, so another model could very well come out that changes things, but right now I think the MSI is in the lead for me. The KVM is nice, although i have one anyways, but the HDMI 2.1 is huge. I could plug my console into my monitor and take full advantage. Even having a 65" OLED TV, I still prefer to play games at my desk where a monitor is more immersive to me.
Even though I own an Nvidia GPU, I'm never going to touch a monitor that's broken for AMD gpus. Every monitor I've owned have been used for 2-3 GPU upgrades, and it would be insane to limit future choice.
@@mz1929 I don't care how much market share Nvidia has. I only care about how much value I can get with my GPU and monitor purchases. Like you, evidently Samsung is too preoccuppied with Nvidia's market share. Because they've done a garbage job testing and calibrating for one of only TWO variable refresh standards on the market.
