This is the realest install video....great job explaining every step....oh lord when he peels off that film it was like watching my first child being born all over again
Couldn’t have found this at a better time, my 65Q9FN and Samsung N950 sound Bar arrive from Richer Sounds in 4 days, I’ve watched you install many TV’s but obviously your own home installation has been the most in depth. Thanks for putting in the time and great effort to share these videos.
TellyDan Actually Dan I do have a question about calibration, I’ve never heard you mention it in your previous vid’s, are there any settings that you’d suggest changing out of the box to improve the picture, I’m leaning towards professional calibration, but that’s not going to happen until February 19 at the earliest.
@@justwayne4785 not sure really I always think it's personal choice. I usually like to turn off a lot of the processing features so movements more natural. Standard isn't bad to start from then adjust. Alot of people use recommend movies mode as a base but it does look a bit dull. You could see what setting people use on the forums and go from there. Quantum apotheosis usually has some good recommendations worth checking out
@@TellyDan Thanks Dan, I've got everything installed now and it's amazing, don't know how long it's going to take to get used to it though, watching this video definitely saved me a lot of time I think, managed the whole thing single handed too, it did take a while to let the whole weight of the TV rest on the bracket though lol Wish I could post a picture
@@justwayne4785 shame it doesn't let you in the comments. I know what you mean about letting go, it's like slowly walking backwards waiting to catch it lol. Hope you get to thoroughly enjoy it over Christmas
I’ve returned mine after having a new panel fitted due to vertical banding issues on both the original and new panel. I really liked it, especially as I too had it mounted with the no gap wall mount, just a shame about the screen issues. I replaced it with the 65” LG C8 and I’m really impressed as I was weary initially about OLED, but it’s an unbelievable tv.
We've been pretty fortunate with the 2018 qled models so far and not had any faulty. 2017 models though we had a few bad ones. The LG OLED is really good as well though hope you have better luck with that. They say 3rd time lucky so fingers crossed
@@TellyDan Its nice to see someone respect and appreciate both types of TV rather than continuously bigging up the TV they have and knocking down the other.
Beautiful tv bro, couple months ago I commented on a 75" q9fn, you had told me you were installing it for someone, from my opinion you're a professional TV technician you've dealt with lots of different types of TVs as it relates to you profession. An for you to purchase a Samsung q9fn goes to show how beautiful the picture quality that the quantum dots produce with full array back lighting and high pick brightness to show off H.D.R content that said. "I wish I was in your shoes" Well done my friend, well done. Not a bad choice. ENJOY IT TO THE FULLEST!!!!
These TVs are great.I was lucky to get mine before the 18th of December because they were giving away free Galaxy note 9 phones with the TV,then. So when I sell the phone they are giving me with it as part of Samsung's promotional offers it would be as if I got the TV for £1,300 or less if I decide to sell the phone for more than £500. I did have some problems with the TV not saving my channels in my favourites list so John Lewis are sending me a new set which will arrive next Thursday. Very happy with the customer service.
Gracias.
A fantastic Video in every way, and I am buying Q7F soon and have two questions: Does your model support Bluetooth keyboard and mouse ? to type and navigate on youtube app ? Also, the reflective screen reflect your window or bright led bulbs and hinder the experience in any way ?
I haven't noticed the reflections but I've not watched in the day yet and I usually watch with low lighting. The bracket does tilt as well which could be of advantage. Thankyou for the support mate.😀
I'm pretty sure you can connect the Bluetooth keyboard and mouse for web browsing not sure about on youtube though as it's a third party app. I usually launch and que RU-vid videos from my phone though that's quite good
Thx for info but can u tellme the amount of reflection during daytime viewing OR more importantly with bright lights? - I am having 6 super bright led lights in my medium size room and I dont want to risk glare. (Maybe u can make a small video on it too!)
It looks like you did it more complicated than it needed to be. Isn't there a guideline paper in the box you could follow and actually put on the wall and just make the holes using that?
@@TellyDan OK, yeah you can do it however you want! The main thing is that the TV was successfully mounted on the wall! :) No Gap-wall mount looks promising, too bad they are out of stock in Sweden :(
Interesting video!! In a few days I'll receive my Q9F and I'm looking forward to install it!! I have one question though, the remote control communicates directly with the "box" or with the TV? Because I would like to hide the "box" behind a panel and I'm afraid that if I do so, the remote control might not work properly!thank you for your help and have a great evening!
Brilliant video best I have seen on the Q9FN , I am also going for the same TV (same reasons I rejected OLED too Burn/Oneconnect). Your set up is almost identical to mine, but I have a question....Why did you connect Sky to the one connect and not your AV receiver? I have a Marantz AV and I'm wondering if I should connect all to the Receiver and only ARC to one connect or connect all to the oneconnect and only ARC to my AV receiver?
It's partly out of simplicity because the sound passes through the tv and back to the amp anyway also direct to the tv there should be less chance of lip sync issues. Ps4 when I use it is also direct to the tv. Dolby digital is passed through so there shouldn't be any problems also you don't have to switch inputs on the av receiver
@@TellyDan Thanks for the reply much appreciated, I have heard it wont pass DTS via ARC do you know if Dolby TrueHD is ok? Also does it switch in and out of game mode automatically when you use your PS4? (Xbox one X user here)
The TV being so close to the wall hasn't caused it to overheat? I just bought the mount I've had the q9 for over a year and parts of it get pretty hot especially when watching 4k blurays the TV gets alot of use I imagine more so than the average person probably 8 too 10 hours a day and I'm worried this bracket isn't practical for how hot the TV gets feel it needs more ventilation
Dont worry too much. The tv tends to tilt slightly away to it should be fine the vents seem to have room to expel heat. I've got a 5 year warranty on mine so fingers crossed
Hey dude, love this video. Really informative. Can I ask if you have seen or installed a Q8FN model? I see they are similar but can't find any reviews or comparisons. It's £600 cheaper than the Q9 but can't really see what's different. Thanks in advance.
I've installed one before for a customer. It didn't seem any different to the Q7. I think the only real difference between the Q8FN and the Q9FN is the Q8FN edge lit and the Q9FN is direct back lighting (local dimming)
Tricky one really. I got a free phone which made it worth the difference. The q9 isn't perfect either still notice backlight blooming occasionally but it depends on the conditions you watch it in
Great video!! Only differences in the U.S. is that they give us crappy Philips screws to bolt the bracket onto the wall. Easily stripped if not careful. Glad you had no problems mounting it. I love this tv so much I’m debating getting the 55” q6 for my bedroom!!
Good video, . To me it seems as if it leaves a nice sized gap? especially towards the top? I have a regular no named brand slim flush mount that seems to leave my q9fn 65" closer to the wall than the samsung no gap you used?
Hey, really helpful and well explained guide. Thank you for that! Just one question. I could negotiate to include the No Gap wallmount for free to my 65QFN. On the package of the Wallmount it states „The Frame No Gap Wallmount“. So I assume the dealer just took that from the Frame model and gave it me. So,my question. Will that one work as well for Q9F? At least it seems to look the same. Thanks
From December the 5th onwards you do yes and some samsung galaxy s9 or s9+ with other qled models. Receipt of purchase needs to be dated December the 5th onwards. That's the next promo according to the samsung rep.
Hi Dan in process of making a tv wall on chimney breast myself can you tell me the size of the one connect box please . Love you vids keep up the good work
Hi sorry for the delayed reply, it 39cm wide, 7cm tall and 13cm deep but the one connect cable adds about 5 cm to the depth. Thanks for that as well, if you need anything give me a shout.
Question for you. Is the distance from the wall to the front of the tv the same at the top as it is at the bottom or is it slightly tilted? Went to visit a store and had my meissuretape with me, the top was about 6 cm from the wall. The bottom about 5 cm from the wall. Was it faulty installed or is it tilted slightly by default?
It's the same on the q9 but different on the q7 or q8. Mine is hard to push back totally flat towards the top but it's only a few mm tilted. Could be the installation they've done
What size TV is it and what is your honest opinion of the Q9FN QLED and the No Gap wall Mounted bracket? What brand and model of speakers is it and is it a surround system?
It's a 55" the bracket is good and easy to fit. Bit of a struggle to clip on and off at first. It tilts if necessary as well. The two freestanding sparklers are kef iq5se, the in wall speaker is a canton. The rears are cheap jvc my kef iq3's won't fit.
I have tv mount installers coming in the morning to mount my 9fn for $160. I should cancel and try it myself but I'm renting and don't wanna mess anything up.
Waited for the Galaxy Note promotion only to find Samsung bumped the price up of the 65" everywhere by £400 (£2799/£2399) but the 55" only up £200?? (1999/1799) still annoying they call it "complimentary"
Wow didn't know that mine was invoiced at 1799 for the 55. I got a discount though for doing jobs for them. If it's bumped up then I guess it's slightly subsidised
If you had bought it they would have given you a refund because they have now, lowered the price again. John Lewis just refunded me back £200 without me asking for it because I arranged for a replacement set as I wasn't happy with the first TV I got. My free note 9 is on its way to me and I got my refund after the price dropped back to £1,799
Hey man, nice video. Could you tell me how tight a fit the tv is to the wall now? Because I've been reading different things on the net. Some say it sits pretty far out from the wall. Would love to hear your experience. Thanks.
Your TV is too high. The centre of the TV needs to be 46" from the floor for optimum viewing, this is where everyone makes this mistake and installs TV when standing up. But great video.
The tv actually is about 49" from the floor to the canter of the screen, don't know if the video distorts this dimension of hight. Maybe because I'm short? The hight of the tv is dictated by the speaker in the wall.
@@TellyDan yeah, it's so hard to tell, but if you went with 46" from the floor to the centre than awesome !! Well done....would have been good to have mentioned this in your video. Keep up the great videos, thanks for sharing. Worth doing an update on how the TV is as well ;)
I know what you mean I didn't think to mention it at the time. I would have liked it slightly lower but when I'm slouched back in my recliner it's all good. Thanks for that dude.😀
How does your controlling of what input you want to use through your receiver work with the one connect box? Wouldn't the one connect box be plugged into the receiver? Very confused. About to get the Q7 probably and a compatible 4K receiver but I'm wondering how the One Connect box integrates?
I use HDMI 4 arc from the one connect to the receiver then my other items are plugged directly into the one connect e.g. sky and ps4. The receiver is then controlled by the tv and stays on the tv arc input for whatever source I use on the tv. Hope I've explained this ok for you
TellyDan so basically the one connect takes over as your controller and interface between all HDMI inputs but you’re still able to use your home theatre audio system with each thing plugged into the one connect? Do you have to flip between the receiver remote and tv remote? Or do you have a universal remote?
@@Pissedandmiserable the one connect is basically just the tv connections separated from the tv. Connecting the receiver to HDMI 4 on the one connect returns the audio from the tv to the receiver and also controls the receiver via the tv so you only need to use the tv remote. The receiver will switch on and off automatically with the tv and also control volume. What make and year of receiver do you have?
TellyDan I'm actually just going to buy one of these Samsung Q edition 4K tvs but I'm unsure what receiver to go with. I'm running a 5.1 setup but 2 of my speakers (rear) have the white cable with the red, black, green and white wires so I need access to 2 red and 2 black banana plug speaker inputs and then my front left and right + centre uses just a regular white cable with 2 colour wires for the banana plugs (black and white). So it seems I need to buy a 7.2 receiver just to have access to more speaker inputs. What do you suggest? I don't know why the two speakers use a different cable with 4 colour wires to connect instead of just 2
@@Pissedandmiserable are the rear speakers bi amp? Some have the ability for a low and high frequency input. Usually you can just connect the 2 positive and 2 negative together before connecting to a normal amp output. Personally I quite like the Yamaha av receivers but you have to remember to turn on HDMI control and arc as they're set to off as default
Excellent Video Mate! I am going to build a false chimney breast to put the 55" Q9 on. Please could you tell me the width of your chimney breast? Also, I see that your chimney breast is a real one, how did you drop the wire down through that small hole, and out through the fireplace. Was it down conduit within the chimney, or just dangling inside? Thanks.
Sorry for the late reply. The width is 162cm, it's made from brick with a cavity inside for me to draw the cable through. no conduit inside because nothing else is inside. Hope this helps.
@@TellyDan Hi I am looking at this model. It was between the Q9 or LG C8. The free mobiles promo sounds good. Can you give further details please. Thanks
@@nOahjOmes not sure if only euronics but it's live as of tomorrow so you log on to claim and submit a copy of your receipt to have the phone posted to you.
Very disappointed . I was going to buy one, but once I heard to say that there is no dts via arc and no earc in a futur update, I choose to keep my KS8000. Btw, nice video and beautifull tv.
TheInfamous Right my friend. The reason is simple. Waf. Yes my wife doesn’t want me to buy an Av receiver + pack of speakers because of space. I only have a YSP 5600 (soundbar). And you known the saddest thing in this story ? I could buy the 65Q9FN for 1700€. I’m from France 🇫🇷.
Oled is much much better with dts, dolby vision, price & also picture quality I wonder why people choose Samsung, the only negative about OLED is I know its burn in but only if you play games or watch static image for 10 and more hours
I figured because you single handedly took the tv out. I seen someone else do it on RU-vid so thought I could do it my self. Then my 65" arrived and I was wrong LoL
Washed out colours when watching because the tv's too high up. No Dolby Vision and no HDR10+ content. Really not for me Samsung are all about gimmicks, I've had them and really don't like them, Sony all the way for me, anyway nice vid and very informative.👍
The hight doesn't diminish the colours at a slight angle also the wall mount is tiltable. I have 4k content from Netflix and UHD blu ray when needed but I've only got Thor ragnorak at the moment on disc. I installed the Sony OLED for a customer the other day the pic was nice but the tv was horrible to operate really slow and underpowered. If you want OLED I'd go for the LG
I don't know....I got a pretty good deal with mine. Samsung were giving away free note 9 phones with this TV. I've got mine coming in the post. When I sell it I would have got back £500-700 depending on what I sell it for so my TV would have worked out )1,300.00 or less. Pictures pretty sweet too. So I definitely got a lot of bang for buck.
did I hear your getting a free note 9. a 1000 phone . WTH ... and you get and extra remote and 5 year warranty.. US gets nothing of the sort... 1 year warranty -1 remote - no phone . nothing free. but I paid $1993.55 for the 65" tv
+TellyDan these are great TVs. I was lucky to get mine before the 18th Dec because they were giving away free Galaxy note 9 phones with the tv, then. You obviously didn't notice the in wall speaker below it. The tv is about 6inches higher than my eye level at a distance of 3 meters. When you mount your own the choice is yours.
