The Samsung QN95C is a step up from last year’s QN95B with slight improvements in picture quality and the ability to disable dynamic tone mapping for more accurate HDR images. Picture quality is very good and the HDR 10 performance offers exceptional brightness, colour reproduction and volume. Still, it is a shame there is no Dolby Vision support. This MiniLED 4K Flagship offers excellent bright room images but is held back by some aggressive blooming suppression that does limit the dynamic range of specular highlights to reduce clouding and haloing effects. Video processing is also good, if not quite as polished as the competition from Sony and LG. Gaming support offers up to four full-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 (48Gbps) ports with 4K/144Hz for PC gaming and 4K/120Hz console gaming, ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode), eARC and FreeSync Premium Pro VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) as well as the Game Bar Menu and input lag that measures 9.3ms at 4K/60. Overall, the Samsung QN95C offers a polished performance with most sources for bright room viewing wrapped in a nice design with good build quality. It lacks the one-connect box and individual pixel response dynamic range capabilities of the S95C QD-OLED, but as a living room workhorse in bright conditions and with a mix of sources, it produces the goods. However, it is far too expensive for the technology and performance on offer.
The good
Excellent peak brightness and full-screen brightness
Is accurate with SDR and HDR content in Filmmaker Mode
Four HDMI 2.1 inputs at 48Gbps
Excellent gaming credentials
Decent sound quality
The not so good
No Dolby Vision support
Aggressive blooming suppression reduces overall dynamic range capabilities
Dynamic tone mapping can over-brighten the image, leave it set to Static
Some light DSE and banding seen
Some back-door processing is being applied

Why does no one compare the qn90c and qn95c, I don't need to know the difference between qled and oled as burn in is to much of a concern.. its baffling comparing two completely different technologies against each other, its like comparing a tesla to a Mercedes, pointless.

I agree. The 95 is a lot better than the 90 according to Bthe installer on youtube. I have the qn95c

Why not compare this set to other QLED TVs instead of two OLEDs and only one QLED? This seems like less a review of the QN95C and more an opinion piece about why the uploader prefers OLED. Is OLED better than QLED for overall picture quality? Well duh, but both technologies have their advantages depending on specific use cases and how this TV stacks up to OLED is not going to be a relevant factor for most people trying to decide which QLED to buy.

Folks. I own the QN95C, got it for 120K (INR, please convert for September 2024). It's beautiful. Trust me, I've seen it next to an OLED and it's still my preferred choice. The blooming is well within control and you can tweak the settings to please your eyes. Color accuracy in the end is very subjective as you would rather watch what your eyes like. Film maker mode was very close to my calibrated settings using Samsung smart things and an S series device (borrow from your friends if needed, it's worth it). The calibration from that blows away anything in the price range and I'd take this over the OLED. It's accurate if you're into it but it's more about your eyes and how you're pleased. Most of us are not good enough to judge colour accuracy and don't have high end calibration equipment. Go for this and enjoy brighter HDR and no OLED burn in (it's magical).

While I enjoy your knowledge Im not sure this review gives the QN95C enough credit. I bought the QN95C now at £1450 and its a blinding set. The oled comparison was obvious in a dark room...but how about a bright room?? Full screen brightness is an advantage on Qled but no one ever talks about it? Oleds are stunning but some scenes look better on mini led.

The increase of dimming zones will close the gape between Oled and LCD more & more next year😮

Doesn’t really matter, if it has to use a backlight, and dimming zones, it will still never compare to the infinite contrast and true blacks of Oled…

I think the only reason to get an LED today, is if you need a very large set, are in a very very bright room. or looking for a cheaper, low end set. PQ wise, the QD oleds have really caught up with the brightness on HDR content and just have much better contrast and excellent uniformity. Once the QD Oleds get 85"+, LEDs are in trouble,.

@@Adrianek81 it is a known issue, as the tv dim because of the game huds which is considered a static logo, it is a protective mechanism but can be very annoying while gaming specially with games with huds, it is called asbl not abl, and it can be turned off via service menu but this might void your warranty and make you prone to burn in risk, so gamers need to consider this, i know this because i own s95b

On the video it actually looks like the S95C is brighter. That the QN95C has to lower its brightness potential to control the blooming :/ instead of being that brightness monster

Like you said, it may be a lost in compression situation, but just regarding the point that the qn95c compresses highlights to combat blooming and reduces the overall dynamic range, in this video, the brighter highlights on the OLED's result in a severe loss of highlight detail compared to the QN95C. The highlights on the OLED's appear blown out in this video and the QN95C is showing all available details in the highlights and shadows which makes for a more pleasing and accurate image. Once again, it's probably just lost in translation after the upload compression etc but wouldn't mind hearing your thoughts.
@alexworm1707
@alexworm1707 Год назад
Yep, seems like you didn't get the memo of not taking the images in the video to heart lmao. The camera doesn't have enough hdr capabilities to capture the brightness without blowing it out.

Thankyou for the video. I was looking for a premium TV for our family to replace our old Samsung. Please advise if the premium oleds with new extra brightness would be as good as the Qn95c for our very ambient front room? Thanks

Personally i own i qn95a and out of the box i was bitterly disappointed. However after updates the colour and hdr presentation is very much improved. The highlights look much brighter now and the image has more depth. I am sure when this is a mature product and fully optimised it will be even better than my tv. My mothers Panasonic oled looks muted by comparison in hdr and sdr.

I've seen a few sources mentioning that previous Samsung QLEDs restrict the number of available dimming zones when in Game Mode. I've been unable to check whether this limitation applies to the QE55QN95C model as well. Does anyone know whether the QE55QN95C indeed imposes a limitation on the number of dimmable zones like the previous models?

LED TVS ONLY USE HALF THE SPECTRUM OF REAL LIGHT , NO AMOUNT OF OPTIMISATION CAN EVER ACHIEVE QUALITY REAL LIGHT VIEWING CONDITIONS. This is why led TVs should be taken of the shelves. ( LED LIGHTING ALSO CARRIES A HEALTH RISK )
