Samsung just agreed to replace my icemaker with their 2.0 version on my 5 year old fridge AT NO CHARGE!!!! I just gave them my serial number and he immediately approved it and setup and apt. Wow, that was easy !!! Thanks so much for this story and bring this to my attention; I was growing increasingly frustrated with the ice maker which required more and more frequent attention.

Mine was about 4 months old the first time it froze up. Called Samsung customer service. Lady told me, try this..or this.. I told her, I shouldn;t have to try this...on a 4 month old fridge. I also told her I was disabled and it would be hard for me to do that. She told me if I didn't try these "fixes" and the service guy came out, and fixed it, they would charge me a service charge. On a warranted item! Last Samsung product I ever buy.

Thanks for the heads up video. We have this same problem with our refer. We have had 2 repair services and the problem continues. And of course we purchased an extended warranty through Best Buy that they call a Protection Plan. Well, most warranties allow the manufacturers warranty for the year and then the extended warranty takes over. Well, the warranty is not valid anymore because BB’s Protection Plan is not an extended warranty it’s a “ Protection Plan that runs parallel with the product from the purchase date.(very deceiving) Anyway, we called 1800 Samsung because of your video and they are sending out a tech at no charge. I will update you with the progress. Thanks so much!

BTW, thanks for looking into this. Please don't let two refunds be the end of the story. SAMSUNG is very devious. This company does not care about the consumer. Please do a followup in a few months and go public with the responses that owners of these pieces of junk get from SAMSUNG.

I called Samsung and they came out and admitted that there was a problem and that they now have a solution. The problem is that the overflow pipe is just too narrow and ices up so they replaced all the components with the new assembly and it is now working fine for a year.

Our $3,000 dollar Samsung ice maker stopped working years ago and we joined the lawsuit. The lawsuit is as bad as the refrigerator! Stay far away from any "ice maker" and buy a couple of the old fashion metal ice trays. We got two of them from ebay years ago and guess what, ha ha . . . they still work and are 100% reliable! Keep It Simple.

Having this exact issue. Samsung said since my 18-month old refrigerator isn’t under warranty they can’t offer any assistance. I saw the lady using the steam mop though, and I tried that. It’s the best hack I’ve came across so far, so thanks to that at least 😂😂😂

Add clear silicone in gap on right side.. (if you shine a flash light you can see small gap) Defrost by pressing buttons on front panel at same time.

We bought our Samsung refrigerator in February 2021. Not happy with the ice maker also. I thought that by paying a little more for a Samsung refrigerator I wouldn't have any issues, as opposed to buying a cheaper refrigerator. Our ice maker works, but the ice melts and clumps together, so we have to keep pulling it out and breaking up the ice. I am so frustrated and glad I found this video. I guess I'll be calling Samsung on Monday. 😡

Omg! Thank you for this! They approved to fix our refrigerator tonight! We had it for 4.5 years. Had a baby 2 years ago .. Didn't have time to figure this out. Hopefully they can fix it. 🤞🏼

I had the same issue and found a solution. I insulated around the ice maker with clear silicone. Been almost a year problem free. Used to have to defrost it every month.

I have been trying to get the refund promised from Samsung for over a year. I have been lied to over and over by all of their employees. Totally frustrated and need help on finally bringing this issue to an end.

If it's a real news organization it would have a follow-up and tell us how it played out rather than just inform us that other people have the same complaint we do. They really falling short these days on what they do compared to what they did when we were teenagers or kids.

I just bought one - delivered Jan 25. As of yesterday (FEB 9) the icemaker bin was completely full and the auger froze. I removed the bin, dumped out the ice - twisted the auger to free it and this morning its full again - looks like the bin has no way to tell the maker to STOP PRODUCING ICE! It just keeps making ice until the bin overflows. Will update later in the week after I call Samsung to ask if they have a bin sensor - my last fridge (an LG) had a wire bail that sensed the ice and stopped the water.

Ours does not do that, but I sure have no idea how it knows when to stop or what to do about it if it doesn't. Be glad you didn't buy a new LG, though. The new ones, with the "linear compressor," have a shockingly high compressor failure rate at two years.

I had the same problem with the augur. I finally disassembled it, got an angle grinder and cut the impeller fins shorter. This actually worked. Been 3 years now but if its not used for a week, ice will block it.

I have this refrigerator and I have replaced the ice maker twice already. I bought it in 2015. Today someone is coming to replace the water valve and ice maker again. I was told by the repair person that the main issue is that people don't mind how to open the doors, apparently there is a right way to open the doors. If you notice there is a flap on the right door that closes so the seal on the left doors ests against it. Therefore, it is important to open the left door first and close the left door last, otherwise, the seal on the left door will rip and warm air will come into the fridge causing condensation and freezing in the ice box. In my case, I have never cared how to open the doors and I see this as a major design flaw. Finally, I learned that Samsung will regard you issue as "appliance abuse" and no warranty company will cover it. I will be calling this 1-800-SAMSUNG line to get a refund, I am glad I saw this video.

Every single one of my expensive Samsung appliances are currently broken ... the refrigerator, the gas range, the over the range microwave is completely shot, and the dishwasher lasted 6 months. The washer puts everything in knots and the dryer puts clothes back in knots and blankets and sheets in tight balls. The refrigerator ice maker is broken and the freezer thaws and then freezes and builds up ice. I have had range repaired 3 times. I have reached out to Samsung. I even posted on their website. Nothing mean, just the facts, and they blocked me.

My refrigerator is having a similar issue. I can no longer open the ice maker door to defrost it with the hair dryer. It's frozen over along with the cooling fan compartment in the refrigerator. I use an electronic thermostat to keep a check for the actual temperature in the refrigerator and freezer. The refrigerator is at 50 degrees and there is water pooling under the deli tray. The water then spills onto the floor and I have to remove the deli tray to clean the water out. All of this happened to me in 2017 and I now have the same issue. I've call Samsung and they refuse to acknowledge that they have a manufacture defect on the refrigerators. They told me since this is out of warranty that I would have to pay for repairs. Well the ice maker has been an issue for me for years. I have to defrost it with a hairdryer about once a month and here I am again in 2020 having to get the same repair that was performed in 2017 which tells you all they did was put a bandaid on the problem without addressing the real issue which is this thing can not be fixed. Of course, I've requested a refund and they deny that they are at fault and will not give me a refund. I have filed a complaint with the BBB.

Samsung refunded me the purchase price plus tax ($3,138.17) for my Aug 2018 refrigerator purchase. I used the cash to buy a Whirlpool to replace it. Much better fridge, and made in the USA!

I had the same issue with mine. Being a little inventive I installed a small usb strip heater in the ice maker compartment and put it on a timer to activate twice a week for 30 minutes. Since doing this the problem has been solved. It's kinda sad that this is required on a new $3000+ refrigerator. I definitely won't by samsung again.

We found the problem and ours was fixed. works perfect now. Turns out that the tube that drains off the water from the heating process used to help release the ice cubes, was blocked at the very bottonm in the evaporator tray under the fridge. the water was filling the tube and draining onto the ice cubes and fusing the whole thing!

I will never by anything Samsung again after experiencing problems with my over the range microwave and my four door refrigerator which I paid over $2000.both appliances started giving me problems just days after the one year warranty ran out . Samsung products looks good but the quality is very poor . From now on I will buy Japanese or American made only .

Not only the ice maker but also the condenser is a huge problem on these refridgerator. Mine gets filled with ice and have to used a blow dryer to melt the ice.

Had this issue with the Samsung touch interface. I fixed it by taking a hairdryer and raising the temp of the freezer. The RF265 model.

David Gutierrez it did fix the issue. I first took the hairdryer and thoroughly defrosted the entire ice maker assembly and associated lines with the tray fully removed. I then reset the system after it was completely thawed. I raised the temp of the freezer because the recommended temp is simply too cold. Just FYI, never admit to Samsung that you used the hairdryer. They try to get you to admit using one saying it will void their responsibility. It’s absolutely awful they say that, but they do attempt to drop the ball. I hope it works for you as well.

Bought a house where the previous owner chose Samsung for all the appliances. Will NEVER buy any Samsung product again. Our fridge had this issue, our stove has a thermostat issue so it runs 50 degrees cold, and our dishwasher leaks water out the front so we have to put a bowl under it. Trash company. Trash products.

Do they not have sensors that know when the tray is not underneath it? Mine is in the freezer drawer and I’ll be in there getting something out and ice falls to the bottom of the fridge! It’s not like I know when the ice is about to fall.

i have the same issue with my whirlpool. The ice cubes are preventing the dispensing door from closing which causes air to flow through and it freezes the water lines. I turned down the temp and it's been working fine.

Waiting for the samsung repair person now … same issue - Jersey Shore ….!!! I’ve been blow drying the ice maker for years and now the fridge doesn’t get cold … my sense of humor for this garbage is over. BTW this is one was the 7th samsung fridge they delivered to me from the Home Depot in the summer of 2014.

I absolutely HATE my Samsung fridge. Ice maker repeatedly stops, there is ice gunked up in the actual fridge itself which has drastically decreased the cooling capacity. Even at the coldest setting, my food and drinks are cool at best, not cold. My old fridge if I set it at the coldest setting I would get bits of ice in my drinks. I will never buy another Samsung appliance ever again

Samsung agreed to replace the icemaker (fridge started having issues at about a year), but due to poor customer service, they botched the scheduling of the technician wasting our day. when technician finally showed up, said he replaced the icemaker and circuit board at back. He also silicone sealed the joining between the icemaker compartment and the inside of the fridge, since as he said, flexing of plastics can occur over time. He also discovered that the flex zone rail harness assembly and deli control panel was defective but it wasn't covered.

I paid $3299 95 in July 2016,I called Samsung an they told me the warrenty is over. I also bought a range and dishwasher total cost$5774 93 I ended buying a mini table top Danny ice maker and love it,Samsung warrenty is no good I also bought a bosh dishwasher as the Samsung dishwasher was leaking and the leak sensor was causing the drain cycle to come on all the time

@@noncustody We avoided the LGs like the plague because of that: the compressors tend to die around the 2 year mark. I'd rather defrost my Samsung ice maker every week (grr!) than have the whole refrigerator die after 2 years.

Ours is having the same issue. It's getting so bad that the moister builds up around the ice maker, and then it creates another issue with the upper part of the refrigerator. You can hear one, or both, of the fan chipping away at the ice.

Samsung Fixed IT!!! Finally.... I called 1 800 SAMSUNG in Oct 2020, and talked to a human. She scheduled a tech and a week later fixed the icemaker. He replaced the auger and circuit board (about an hour job). I'm writing this Jan 2021 - and the icemaker is still working! We've had this refrigerator about 4 years, and had tried everything to get the icemaker to work. Service calls, caulking, defrosting - all failed. A block of ice would form in about 2-3 weeks after I defrosted it. We gave up. After seeing this video, I thought I'd give it one more shot. The Samsung rep understood the problem and wanted to help - not just pawn off the problem. Looks like Samsung has gotten the message. The tech told me the defroster for the icemaker had ran too short (defroster runs after ice tray is full to allow cubes to drop out) and not all of ice cube melted enough to dispense. Then when the ice tray refilled, water would overflow (explained why water would sometimes drip) until eventually enough ice built all around the tray. the defroster runs a bit longer (2 minutes?) to fully melt the cube so that the tray is fully empty for the next refill. Bought my first ever samsung refrigerator Dec 2018, had issues after a few months later.... ON and OFF and it is annoying!!! July 2020 I finally got to Samsung's office of the president and they sent a samsung tech 2 days later to "fix" the problem. Dec 18.... SAME F@#$%$# ISSUE!!! now the ice bucket is stuck, it's leaking water and NO ICE. I should have stayed with GE. My previous one lasted 13 years .... the GE before that lasted 19 years! Biggest mistake I've made in my purchases. Reached out to the office of the president.... got NOTHING. I just filed a complaint through Better Business Bureau asking for a refund. Let's see what happens.

I’ve had this same problem with the ice maker. I had parts replaced ,and had the inside of the ice maker sealed with silicone. This did nothing to solve the problem.

Just bought a samsung french door refrigerator 1/6/21 broke 3/26/21 took three weeks to get someone out to fix it 4/13/21 replaced compressor,evaperator,condenser broke 4/14/21 supposed to be sending someone back out 4/15/21 PROBABLY THE BIGGEST $1400 MISTAKE I HAVE MADE IN 43 YEARS! DO NOT BUY SAMSUNG'S REFRIGERATOR! This fridge is only 4months old therw is no way we should be having these issues and they just want to keep fixing it I just want a diffrent fridge one more time and I will get them with lemon law! Full refund+ my lost food im ready to see them in court!

Curious if there is a fix for this issue. I just setup mine; samsung rf28r7351sg. I do not have water lines installed just yet. I'm pretty handy so I figure if I have issues I'm going to take it apart, and try to see where the problem lies. Is the class action lawsuit over with yet?

samsung only makes good electronics. They cant make good appliances. My icemaker just had a problem. It locked up and had to clean out the basket and reset it.

Its funny you say that. I've heard others say the same. But every Samsung TV I've ever owned has gone black screen after two years. Soon as the warranty is up of course. And now my s20 ultra phone is kind of garbage too especially the camera. But yeah TVs are definitely one thing I will never ever buy from them again. I just bought another refrigerator after my ice maker went out, then the compressor went out. So now I have a brand new one. Still waiting on money from my fancy one not even 2 years old only gave me, or said they would give me $1900 still haven’t received money. Every other day they have someone to call me ask me for the same paperwork to complete my refund. I ended up getting Covid 19 because I had to run back and forth to the store every day. I have a home appliance claim they came out over 3 times. First time they said the ice maker was tampered with. It has been on headache after another . I did purchase a brand new Samsung refrigerator. Guess what I am going to give it a little time. But the ice maker still is really slow once again.

I have a Samsung refrigerator and have had the ice maker fail at least six times. Now it is out of the extended warranty and freezing up at least twice a week. I love the fridge but we use a lot of ice so I will be calling Samsung.

Not even two years old and had to have a water line replaced and ice cube maker freezes up and needs to be defrosted. Samsung says warranty is up and offered no help. I would never purchase another Samsung product!

I'm calling them to complain. I spent $2700 on my fridge and rely on the ice maker heavily in the Vegas Summer months. Our Samsung dishwasher racks are rusting too and they're going on the list. Just two years on both appliances.

Samsung has issued a service bulletin/kit for this problem that includes a new motherboard for the refrigerator that extends the defrost cycle in between trays of ice maker to prevent frost build up.

I bought my refrigerator 4- 5 years ago and ice maker never worked, I have the one with the fancy screen and pandora, weather etc, can you tell me how you are getting a refund please is it from Best Buy or Samsung? Use can buy a clothes steamer for like 12 dollars and knock down the ice in 5 mins I tried using a blow dryer it didn’t work half as good but we should have to do this when we spent so much. I think it’s just too much technology in it all the old school ones lasted 20 years same with tube tv

Having this same problem in South Carolina - unit was only 18 months old when it started needing defrosting, but after a few months of defrosting it weekly, it has stopped working altogether.

I paid 17000 dollars for my Samsung and the ice maker screw that turns in which bring in the ice broke in two I am so frustrated 😡 only two months of use this is robbery without a blind fold I refuse to buy anything from Samsung again why apple don't make their own I am sure they would do a remarkable job

I installed a heat tape inside where the ice forms and put a defrost timer. Turns the heater on 30 minutes every 4 hours. No more problems

I did my research on consumers report and still got a lemon every 25 days I got to put heat in my damn ice maker, The two doors in the refrigerator don't work because they're uneven always throwing away vegetables and fruits and stuff because of too much moisture

Defrost didn’t work on mine, called and asked for help but nothing. Ice maker is frozen stuck now but I am getting my refund from it so I’m not too much upset anymore lol.

Our ice maker freezes over, water leaks out of the ice dispenser from sitting in the chute and causes mold, the fan is noisy as hell, the middle drawer doesn’t open and close properly anymore because the wires frayed and block the wheels. This fridge (model rf28jbedbsr) is 3 years old and we paid $2500. POS.

I can't stand my Samsung refrigerator because my ice maker always gets frozen I had to purchase my ice bucket because it broke in the back due to the ice getting stuck. And me getting it out so I had to order a new one and guess what again no ice I bet it's frozen again. Omg this is so frustrating it's 110 degrees here in Arizona and my kids want to drink water and ice and there's no ice in the machine . What can I do.😡
