@@Comfy_Bed 'cause thinner is better. most of the time you'll be looking at the screen, if it's thin, it's a pleasant lookin' even in smaller size (6.1 inch)
Unfortunately, they have to make the flagship phones (S23&23+) more appealing ~somehow~. It's come to the point they're so close to each other they start essentially butchering smaller aspects of the cheaper phones, i.e. thicker bezels. Just a few years ago, thin bezels weren't that common on the flagships so they probably thought they didn't need to bother making them too much thicker on the A series etc. I'm sure in the following years they're going to invent more things to downgrade
just grabbed the FE. i had the a54 but cracked the screen last summer, was so bummed but decided this time ill try the bigger brother. I am a iPhone user but love tech and the A54 really turned me onto Samsung phones after a very long time.
I got the A54. I can't say enough how much I'm enjoying this device. I haven't had a Samsung device since the Galaxy S4! 😅 So to come back to them with a 'budget' device that runs just as good as a flagship at a cheaper price, I'm thoroughly impressed. And the update cycle! I thought I had a good one with the One Plus N20, but after realizing it only had one year of updates, i knew it was time for a switch. Really digging the A54, and if i upgrade, im sticking with Samsung! Bye-bye 🍏!
love the 4 years of updates and you don't even have to upgrade, not to forget that the S24 series gets 7 years, so that may carry to the lower end devices in a few years. I switched from the A54 to an S23 ultra and its a lot nicer but the A54 honestly had an experience I genuinely can't find a single complaint about for the price, I loved it so much, even with my A54 I've never thought of getting an iPhone.
Calling a $600 phone budget is insulting. There was a time when flagships were around $450, that's long gone. But budget is up to $250. Even the A54 goes a bit off budget into the mid range phone category
At 550 Euro the a54 is actually high end these days. My definition: Entry level 0 - 250 euro. Mid-range 200-450 euro. High end 450 - 800 euro. Ultra phones: 800+ euro.
LOL. It's not insulting. It's just dumb. There are pricing tiers and it's not "flagship". The "flagship" used to mean the no compromise model of any given product lineup. The mid tier choices are, well, in the middle. If you just assume that you chose the mid tier for "budget" reasons then all choices but "the flagship" are due to budget considerations. IOW, you didn't get the S24 Ultra. And the "flagships usually cost" thing is also silly because a flagship Mercedes costs a lot more than the flagship Chevrolet but a lot less than the flagship McLaren. Samsung seems to be worried that their "flagship" will be comparable or better and a better value than "flagship" iPhones. So if someone chooses an S24 Ultra over an iPhone for budget reasons then they bought a "budget" phone. Marketing jargon is not supposed to insult you but it's often silly.
I already have the A54 and I am happy with it, I am coming from an A21s for almost 4 years and I was happy with that one, but I was lucky and won the A54 in some contest on Samsung Members app, I can definitely see the difference in power and fluency, cameras are better, in almost every aspect is way better than my A21s, so I am happy, but is not a phone that I would recommend if you are looking to play games that are too demanding because the phone will heat up, but other than that is a great phone
Omg same, been using A21s since 2020 and planning to buy A54 soon? Is it definitely an upgrade? I don't play games, so I guess this phone will be amazing?
They are really not that close as he makes it seem. My wife has the a54 and I have the s23fe. My phone moves faster and has more features. Her a54 freezes alot and moves much slower with less features. The cameras are not comparable. The only thing that is better is that fact you can add more memory if you need. Our phones are not the same or even close other than your standard features that all samsung phones have. I hope this helps.
@@yanyanys I haven’t personally used either phone, but from what I’ve heard, the battery life of the S23 FE is awful, and for a better battery, you should go for the A54 or the normal S23.
The s23fe has a lot of nice to haves, wireless charging, telephoto lens, dex, and the ability to control your camera with the galaxy watch. But the a54 does have that sd card slot. And that makes it really hard to choose between them.
That is not correct. The a54 has an eSim/Dualsim function that allows you to use 2 simcards AND a memory card at the same time - so a total of 3 = 2xsim (an eSim & a normal sim) and an additional memory card with up to 1TB. I know this because only the A54 from Samsung offers this, which is why I won't buy an S-Class anymore.
How can this be a "tough choice? For starters, The S23-fe is almost twice as fast as the A54, secondly the A54 has basic cameras, while the S23 fe has the same camera as the vanilla S23 with an actual optical zoom lens. Interestingly now days you can pickup the S23 fe for almost the same price as the A54, so the choice is clear..
I had the S20fe. The A54 is a considerable down grade to it in performance. I now have the S23fe. Btw. If the S23fe is left over parts from the S22 then why does it outperform the Samsung's Topgun S22 ultra in geek bench and other bench markers? It belongs in the S23 line up as it outperforms the S22 line up.
You know whats crazy is mine s20 Plus and my S20FE still work great and is a big factor why won't upgrade I think the prices on phones cost so much because they know people aren't upgrading every year anymore I just can't believe phones are $1,000 I remember when It was a couple hundred dollars to buy a smartphone. At least there making mid-range phones so your average jo can afford one
@devilkazumi578 hard to recommend payment plans when you pay that fatass interest when it's all said and done. Plus being on payment plans means I can't miss a single day of work 🙃 Rather but it outright and live my life how I want to.
@@TechDaily oh yeah just to add a little. In Asia for s23fe Samsung use Exynos 2200 iirc. A comparison video will be nice if you can have both s23fe unit👍
I got my S23 FE as a second phone from cricket for $200 new And i love it i use it more than my iphone 14 pro max but that might just be because i think the Pro max is too big of a phone
Both very nice phones. I just got the A54 8/128 version and like it. For gaming or in general more computing power the S23 fe is the better one. For me the A54 8 Gb RAM version sits in the sweetspot (upgrading from A22 4/64). Samsung update policy is great (4 year OS, 5 year security since launch). These phones are about 70-90% of the flagship phone.
Unlike the previous FE versions, the S23 FE is in the land of nobody and middle of nowhere: launched too late after skipping the S22 FE, too close to the S24, and too expensive to justify buying it over the cheaper A54 and slightly more expensive, but more performing, S23.
dont forget the s21 FE launched in january 2022 and the s22 series launched in february 2022 😂😂 s20 FE in my opinion was the only FE that really made sense
@@TechnologyMan9575 its gonna be a 2 year old SoC tho, the previous FE's had only 1 year old SoC's when the phone itself was 1 year old (not exactly, but they werent as old as the s23 FE's SoC is going to be)
I am also still on my S20 FE and very disappointed that the smartphone market is no better than my now nearly 4 year old phone. I want wireless charging and an SD card. Why can't I get both in a new phone when I had it previously?
@@TheKaisarwilhelm it's good phone . Snapdragon 865 is still a good processor. I had an expensive Chinese phone previously with 48 MP camera and many good features but I punched that phone many times because of some frustrating issues. I have no major complaint on my Samsung phone only want longer battery now. Only the design of s20 Fe looks old. What I love the most is the Samsung ui. The wallpaper making engine is the best. I made an animated 4k type Street fighter RYU wallpaper with smoke coming from below the screen using good lock and God of war wallpaper with animated snow and fire sparks. No one can download those wallpapers from anywhere , only your creativity can make them on the wallpaper engine.
I had the s20fe till October last year and it was an incredible phone, I use the 23 ultra now and there are a few changes like camera and screen size wise but I still miss my sd card slot a lot. It wasn't really worth it buying the "big" phone.
Easy choice for me. Brand new A54 is 320€, while S23 FE has the same price as S23 in my country (20€ cheaper than S23). For multimedia and usual daily tasks, no point in spending more between this two. P.S. just got the A54 and it's a great phone.
I am super happy with my S23 FE, I love it much more than my Pixel 7, and since I went to Metro and got it for $49.00 buck, I am beyond satisfied, as for the bezels being thick, check out the bezels on an I phone. 11-12- 13- 14
@yanyanys I'd say 12 hours of screen on time is pretty good, but for some that's not enough. I'd say you'll enjoy your experience with the battery though
I currently have the s21 fe. But if i were to shop for a new device, I would go for the s23 fe for 3 main reasons: optical zoom, wireless charging and flagship processor. A54 is nice but an A series device will always be lower regarding specs than the S series.
its so unreal watch you go I try so hard and got so hard but in the end it doesn't matter, I had to far to lose it all but in the end it doens't evne matter.
I have the A54 Samsung chip... I really hate the heating issue that come with the Exynos. I don't game a lot but would occasionally gank a few people on COD. Maybe if I'm in a restaurant wait for my food which is like 10min and it gets uncomfortably hot !
I know some people like to game on mobile BUT just do it on computer it’s much better in my opinion. But if you don’t have a powerful computer then use it on your device and remember to take care of it!
Same, my A20 had got so slow it takes like 6 seconds after i press anything for it to work. Did yours hold up? I upgraded to the a54 and it is definitely an improvement.
Idk what kind of tech guy you are. S23 FE has been on Android 14 and One UI 6. Also has Jan 2024 security update. A54 is nowhere near an S series device. Doesnt even have wireless charging. No DEX support. No reverse wireless charging. And many other shortcomings. The FE devices are always released later than the S series flagships. Look at release dates for S20 FE and S21 FE. And i bought my S23 FE for $49 and idc where you go look youre not gonna get a standard S23 for that price for another 5 years.
I have the a54 got it when it first came out I love it don't play many game and ones I do, play great on it real racing 3, sonic, temple run, the phone don't all the things I need and not paying silly money for a flagship.
Is the a54 worth upgrading from a s20 plus in terms of gaming and performance? The camera on the s20 plus is not excellent, its ok, but not flagship perfect
The A54 has sd card and bigger bigger battery. The camera is better on the fe but not by that much to justify the price difference. Unless you need dex, wireless charging and reverse wireless charging
for a device to be called "fan edition" it should have a headphone jack an SD card slot with 2 sim slots removable batteries an ir blaster a good design and Dex so far they only have dex on the so called "fan edition" lol that's like broke fanboy edition rather than fan edition
The A54 is currently $350 usd an the S23fe is $590 usd in my country I like both but don’t like paying full price for flagship phones. I prefer wait to buy a refurbished or used s23 or s23fe
I've had my A54 for four or five months. Since updating to Android 14, the performance and battery life are still smooth and long. I'm pretty pleased with this phone.
I'm using the A50 and it's about as good as it was 4 years ago. The only thing I've noticed is that the camera app doesn't allow me to use my wideangle anymore.. (I just looked into it, it's turned of my wideangle for years when I swapped cameramode to 25Mp)
Could you do a video of professional photography and videography test on the standard S22 please or like a camera comparison between the s22 and a54/s23fe
man Samsung fell off hard the more I use my slow af galaxy a51 the more I feel like those newer devices have only regressed further and further like the galaxy a52s is literally the last good galaxy smartphone and it wasn't that good lol let me sum it up fo y'all things that increased: + performance + price things that have regressed: - charger in the box - removable storage - design - audio as for things that stayed the same • the trash finger print readers • slow charging speed • USB-2 • no dex on the clearly capable mid-rangers • same tradition of Samsung being the weakest mid-rangers performance wise yeah I'm really keeping my galaxy a51 for a couple more years maybe find me a refurbished Galaxy S10 or something or maybe sony will finally offer software that match their excellent hardware like I'm so done with smartphones everything is just so trash these days and tech RU-vidrs keep pushing for dumb trends and people keep buying cause monkey see monkey does no one has standards anymore
heads up that my exynos version received the android 14 update literally hours after I set it up in early December. It's a really good phone, and the battery + performance are super solid. I've got a theory as to why the s23 fe has a smaller battery than the a54 and it may be because the exynos 2200 and snapdragon 8 gen 1 ran really hot and weren't too efficient, so samsung must've cut the battery size slightly to make room for extra cooling hardware, and I've definitely noticed this, my dad has an s22 and my phone definitely doesn't get as hot as his despite having the same process, just a theory tho🤷♂️
@@Daniel-dj7fh true and to think that you can get the s20 fe for about $200 refurbished is crazy rather than watsing on a slightly better performance s23 fe
It is tho, otherwise it wouldn't be on the S series lineup. Also sd 8 g1 performs way better than whateva the a54 has. means worser battery tho, only if youre intensive on the chip. Obviously the s23 fe is better dawg
Don't forget that there's a S in the 23 fe that's enough to know which one you have to bag. If your gonna bye a 23fe just buy a s22 plus or the normal s22
Which one would *you* choose? 🤔 ---- Bitdefender Total Security (50% off): bit.ly/BItdefender S23 FE on Amazon: geni.us/S23-FE A54 5G on Amazon: geni.us/A54-deals
Well, right now I would actually choose the s23 FE. The S23 FE can be had for $500. Well, the A54 is $443 (or $426 if you're fine with violet). You can also get the A54 with the Galaxy Buds FE included for $500 (both color options). If I were you, I'd pay the extra $57 or $74 (depending on color choice) or sacrifice the Galaxy Buds FE for the extra features. If the S23 FE were $200 or even $100 more than it would not be worth it.
Thank you for this comparison! I needed a new phone and was able to get either the S23 or the A54. This really helped me to know which would be best to buy.
If you can get the A54 5G for $225 from Samsung like I did, $600 for the S23 FE & and $800-$1,000 for the S23 Plus isn't worth it unless you JUST gotta have those extra features. My wife doesn't use wireless charging or Samsung Dex. She doesn't need a high powered chip set or the best camera. So, $225 made the A54 5G the best buy. If I could buy the S23 FE for $300-$400 then yeah, S23 FE is the right choice but for $600, that's to much. Might as well try to find the S23 Plus if your going to pay that much. Hope that helps someone.
