In ye olden days "matte finish" for antiglare was like adding a gray haze to the image. I'm not seeing that at ALL in this video, that is incredible! Thank you for the first look brother!
You are the RU-vidr I first started watching revolving around qd oled tvs. I felt you were good at showing the TV in a light consumers would view it in reality, opposed to just hearing about what reference numbers tvs can achieve.
"much ado about nothing" its an expression. As in "a lot of overreacting or making a fuss about nothing". (Some) folks were losing their minds about the matte finish on the S95D the past couple of months, but your video just proved that it was nothing to worry about, really 🙃
I’ve been telling people the S95D will hit hard in a good way and is not bad like people thought. It’s going to surprise a lot of people and sell very well as most people don’t have a completely dark, theater room like us enthusiasts. Great video and man those blacks on the S95D are the best! They remind me of when LG used to crush blacks, but they looked so good and set the mood that way.
@@dante19890I’m sure this finish is an expensive feature that adds to the cost. I’m sure it’s part of the reason the frame cost so much money besides the gimmick, because the frame for damm sure isn’t anywhere near a performer like this tv or any Full Array, Mini, ,WOLED, QD, etc lol.
Disagree but we both have opinions. The Frame isn’t high end, makes a lot of sense to offer this on this OLED and not the options under it. Now if you want the best, you get the reflections, you get the audio, you get the one connect (which has been upgraded). All for the same cost as last year model this time of the year.
@@AllAboutTKK I second that, the matte finish shouldn’t be used on anything below their QLEDS. Seems like Samsung and LG have come out swinging this year. Do we have any idea when Sony will reveal the 2024 lineup?
Hopefully the third times a charm. For those of you that don't know TKK's S95B was acting weird when he would put it in 144hz mode, the S95C was dropping out when gaming and even sometimes non gaming, and now we enter the S95D. Let's just say to be continued..... lol!!!!
@AllAboutTKK God bless you and your family brother. 🤣🤣🤣 yeah. We've been here through the struggles. So when people come in the comments and be like...."that doesn't happen to mine. Maybe it's your HDMI." I just gotta laugh because you literally show what's going on. Lol
I think in addition to the anti-reflection, the Matte Finish helps the slight raised blacks you see on the previous models when bright light hits it, this finish is also on my Samsung S24U but it slightly mutes the colors...
Good shit as usual TK. I'm still loving my 77-in S90C..... All my games and movies looking great I'm good for the next couple of years, keep up the good work bro.
i hope the one connect box does support the full length of the 48gbps over HDMI now. because last year it was only 40gbps. i am planning to build my pc with an RTX 4090 to support 4K native 60+ fps so it better wont lagging around.
I ordered the S95D as I couldn’t get a LG G4 with a stand. But on a bigger thought it’s okay as I hated my Phillips 48OLED707/12 as I could not see anything doing daytime. Always had to close blinds to see something
Loved your review on S95C last year! Thanks for being so quick. Any chance you're able to confirm if the Spectrum app is available in the app store? My last thing I need to know before I swap my S95C for this bad boy!
Here we go! Looking sleek! Loving the S90D atm. Think I found a way into the service menu as well for some modding, going to test later today. If it works, man, will I have updates! Me personally, can’t go w/ the matte finish. Tried on 27GR95QE monitor, but wasn’t for me. Maybe Samsung’s matte’s different? Looked grainy & spread light on-screen vs diffusing on my LG.
Go buy a lottery ticket. Different RU-vidrs who trust each other like Stop the FOMO, Classy Tech Calibrations, and Tech with KG are getting wildly different results with the S90D, so they are forming a consensus that the S90D has a panel lottery.
Thanks for the real world light situation! I basically use my TV as a PC monitor and do all my gaming/surfing/streaming on it and am very interested if it has the flicker issue like the S95C of renegotiating that handshake all the time. Having hard time deciding if I want to risk an OLED for PC use but the antiglare coating maybe be what makes me take the chance due to glass door and windows on opposite wall behind us.
Hey appreciate it you so much my brother for the early content but I used to be a hardcore samsung user but lately samsung just be doing a copy and paste just like the iPhone industry just garbage but you got my blessing for the content my brother I really appreciate it you
Is it possible to disable auto dimming? Last year I bought a 77 S95C and returned it because of auto dimming, during a NBA game the brightness would go high when they zoom in to a player, when they zoom out to show full court the brightness would drastically decrease, causing me discomfort and headache. For two weeks I played with the settings disabling power save mode etc but still the brightness wasn't stable and wasn't bright enough.
Great video. I would have no problem having the s95d if I were going to buy one, but not this year. Anyway, did the get the free 65in tv offer with this tv? I'd like to know, even though I'm sure you didn't need it. I am looking at 55in mini led tvs to use as a monitor, which is the best one for about $1000, in your opinion?
omfg That Vampire hunter 2 game... im looking for that game's name for years and had no clues about it, my childhood game.. and how it randomly appear on a TV review video is insane hahaha 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I think people just get caught up in camps like this thing is better than the other thing while not looking at the whole picture. There are 2 specific things going on. 1) The particular matte coating that LG uses on their WOLED monitors is just of an extremely low quality (the coatings used on many monitors throughout the years have) and 2) QD-OLED is particularly bad with handling internal reflections or whatever because in tftcentral's testing where he compared all types of panels available glossy vs matte and no matter if you use a matte or glossy QD-OLED panel (before this coating, this new coating wasn't tested yet) the amount of light raised due to ambient lighting is always worse than the WOLED option, but the coating is much clearer so in dark room conditions it looks much better then. This is leading people to believe that glossy displays are always infinitely better than matte panels when that is just not the case. Whether one is better for you than the other is really gonna depend on your personal conditions, but the idea that matte displays are always bad is just completely wrong. People use hyperbole like "it's as if the entire screen is smeared in vaseline" and such and it's just age old tribalism that is best ignored. I will have to see this panel coating for myself but I can squarely believe that this much hyped coating by Samsung themselves is at least much clearer than whatever LG is offering on their monitors (I guess what they're offering is an afterthought), and could be a good middle ground solution that looks good in both dark-room and normal conditions.
I truly still prefer the LG Micro Leds Televisions Technology 📺 😀 over any QD-Oled or the WRGB Oled Organic Material Products degradation Televisions 📺 ❤which will definitely last much longer than these current QD-Oled or WRGB Oled Televisions 📺 Displays Technology for sure!❤😂
Great vid TKK! I want to sell my G2 for the G4, since I feel like it's definitely a good upgrade. I know you sell your TV's in the past at some point to upgrade. How do I go by doing the same ?
not too much to warrent a upgrade tho. G2 is about a 1000 nits and G4 is about 1500. Visually thats only slightly brighter. You really want an upgrade to be a big improvement
@@christianmarmol3230 its not really that big. There is a bigger difference in 200 to 300 nits than 1000 to 1500 nits. The brighter something is the more brightness is needed for it to look brighter. A 4000 nit flashlight and a 5000 nit flashlight basically look the same to the human eye. Brightness is logarithmic. So dont get tricked by the numbers.
Hey TKK, I have a really important question because it could change my buying decision between the A95L and the G4. I read that the A95L doesn't support 1440p gaming. Does this mean that I can't play some modes in 1440p which are offered by the PS5 or maybe the Nintendo Switch 2? Or can you use these settings anyway? I'm a bit confused right now. Thanks a lot in advance...
True. But with the PS5 I think the 1440p option is designed more so to cater to folks that would be interested in buying a monitor instead of a tv panel.
@@AllAboutTKK I thought it is an option to get better FPS performance. Often there are performance and graphic modes. I would pick the performance most of the time over the graphic mode. So I just can't use that option with the A95L, right?
@@AllAboutTKK Thanks a lot. I think I'm going to buy a G4. I even wanted to wait until the Bravia 9 reviews are coming out. But it will have the same problem as the A95L. Do you think Sony will fix this? I think it is very disappointing as both products are made by Sony. As a consumer I really don't care what the circumstances are at Sony, but you just can't claim "best for PS5" if you're TVs don't support every feature...
I’m contemplating if I want to get the S 95 D or S 90D just because of Samsung’s previous problem with the one connect box last year. And I just don’t want to deal with the hassle of returning TVs. So first impression so far is the one connect box good this year?
First impressions it was good last year, most people still aren’t going to use these tv panels for higher end PC gaming like I did, probably can count on a few fingers people talking about the disconnect issues. But I like this tv, a friend of mine has the S90D also, he likes it a lot also.
Am I crazy for considering this 55” for my desk setup? It is a pretty deep desk (9’x3’). I just want an ingredient panel with no haloing. I tried the 32” QD OLED from Asus, it was too dim. The 32UQX was amazing but the haloing was 🤢. I have been using the PG27UQ since 2018. It’s still great but I’m ready for something crazy.
I run s95c with a 27 inch oled for my pc , defiantly works for a pc set up . Came from 2 32 inch screens , now I use my 27 inch for competitive lay and fighting games , then I run my 55 inch for games like Zelda totk and watching content . Great mix
Any blackout issues so far? I was about to buy the S95C until I stumbled on your video on it and couldn’t bring myself to take the risk. Really hoping Samsung haven’t ruined this tv with it too.
@@AllAboutTKKAny of the Resident Evil Remakes, Mortal Kombat 1, Horizon, Uncharted4, Death Stranding...Its all good though, its not easy trying pump these vids out man, keep it up.
Bruh I thought you said nothing interested you to buy the next gen QD OLED. Lol in one of your vids dope video though as always homie. Looks fresh I still like the gloss vs matted finish.
@@AllAboutTKK I’m looking to grab either a G3 or S95/90C can’t beat these price cuts. Do both the S90C/S95C both have black out issues? If so I’ll be sticking with LG would love to hear your feed back.
@@AllAboutTKK how’s black lvls, just as inky black as WOLED? I heard that QD OLED has raised black lvls and don’t do as well. Sorry if I’m asking a lot just trying to be sure my money is well spent.
@RagingGrinch-TechGaming only reason I got this channel is for that, black levels on all OLED are amazing. You might be referring to when there is natural light. Might be best for you to go check out a showroom with some artificial lighting to compare and contrast.
Wise choice. This would be the option to consider for the most optimal picture quality and peak brightness, this tv will end the year as no less than top 4 of all options in the 4k space for 2024.
Hello, I did not buy the S95c last year due to the black screen interruption, with your contribution. This year they switched to a different pixel structure. Let's see if you will be satisfied with the Gen 3. Your ideas enlighten us my friend.
This QD-Oled or the WRGB Oled Televisions 📺 Displays Technology which is currently available right now will soon become 😀 stalemate because as long as the quality of the Micro Leds Televisions 📺 Technology becomes more widely available 😀! The Organic QD-OLED or the WRGB Oled Organic Material Products degradation Television 📺 Displays Technology will definitely fade away in the presence of the better Television Displays Technology which is Micro Led Television Displays Technology for sure 😀. Mr. TKK the Television 📺 Display reviewer right now ❤😅😂!
If you Have direct light or sun on it from outside, it looks like you have blooming or a mist effect. You have to compare them in the same position with the direct sunlight on it. Outside, that still a very nice tv
What are the them I need to compare? If you have direct light on any other OLED besides this then it’s a mirror, that is the comparison, in person I don’t see any bloom, nor did I at CES when looking at the 23 and 24 side by side with the false light coming from the sides on their display. I think most people are choosing to look at what the matte screen does, it’s to fight the reflection. The alternative is to see everything that is in front of the tv, most people have lights or something that will be seen.
@@AllAboutTKK I meant when you had the sunlight directly hitting the s95c at 20:36, it would have been nice seeing them next to each other in direct light and turned on. But Fomo did a video and has a 1min short review showing that with direct light, you get alot of blooming and a washed out look and colours, so this tv is not for a Bright lit room or with alot of sun. So for me the tv aint a option with 5 windows 5 feet tall and 3 feet away from the tv😂. So will be looking at the S90D or a LG G4. Still a lovely tv but because of the coating not for everyone.
@@rossimaddog2498 I can respect if that works for you, but a standard OLED in a room full of windows leads to reflections, the problem as I stated in my second follow up video is that once you see a reflection, now you are challenged between enjoying the content and working to not see the reflection, that’s what people are missing. And I wouldn’t consider the artifact to be blooming, there is no backlight system, blooming would be coming from the panel, the way the light scatters over the matter finish I would not define as blooming.
@AllAboutTKK It's not blooming, but it looks like blooming. The screen goes milky. You get grey blacks and washed out colours, so rather see a bit of reflection than washed-out look because the matt finished scatters the light over the screen. The reflection you can ignore or when the tv is bright enough hardly see, but that matt finish scatters the light and washes thing out, and you can't see around that. For me, that's a no-go. Maybe someone else doesn't mind or watches in a less lit room.
@rossimaddog2498 yeah, the thing is this doesn’t go as dramatic, seeing a video from fomo can’t articulate it, this coming from an owner but I’m not here to sell you on anything.
@@AllAboutTKK No problem friend, I just said that I'm waiting for it to arrive in Brazil, Samsung's premium lines only arrive here in the country every year between May and June, I'll share your video in the comments of people here who are curious to know what the new Oled is like 2024 from Samsung...
any idea how bright this tv is at 100% window? I just watched review of QN900D 8K TV and it can hit 900 nits in 100% window in SDR mode. I think that is the TV I will be saving for, it can also do 4k at 240Hz for PC gaming.
That’s a mental block. But respect the choice, you did buy the tv that has lower bandwidth and a lesser one connect box, something to consider if you just recently got your S95C, maybe going after an S90D, depending on the size might have been better? Congrats either way sir.
@@AllAboutTKK Sales said I'm going back on it and have a chance to replace it. PS After all, I only paid half the price for the mall prototype. I saw your video and it gave me pause. Because my ps5 in the game during the black screen phenomenon, every half an hour appeared.
I don't care about the reflection handling. How is the dark room viewing? Does the matte effect the blacks? Glossy gets deeeeeeep black and I'm not sure this will be the same. Doesn't look it. Looks like it eats up the light and raises blacks to do so, which is fine but I'm more interested in dark room viewing against the a95l and s95c
Luckily every is glossy, this is the only OLED that went different, I think LG did something with B4 that is Matte though too. And thank you for the comment sir.
@AllAboutTKK For Samsung TVs last year 2023 models suffered from lifted black when the light shone on them, I think the matte screen this year is a better option.
