I wish it wasn't so hard in modern day to find real content like this that covers the questions that viewers are actually interested in instead of giving a marketing spiel and then a referral link. My search results are inundated with poor quality monetized content. Appreciate what you do. Picked up a 4TB.

@vanceg4901
@vanceg4901 Год назад
@@BenDover-069 - I'm playing more moderately sized games like Sniper Elite 5 and quite a few older games with lower file sizes so it's plenty. When I upgrade my laptop and start playing newer large games may get a 2 TB. Love the speed of this SSD, great for the relatively low cost.
@Wolfgang790tech
@Wolfgang790tech Год назад
I agree with Vance. It really depends on what you play. In my case I'm storing videos in there so I actually ended up selling the 2TB and buying thr 4TB. I would still say 2TB is great for future proofing, but 1TB should be enough for normaly sized games

In my experience, rubber coatings like this eventually become "gummy" and essentially "melt" over time due to fluctuations in humidity & temperature. This fact alone pushes me towards the regular T7 drive, especially since SSD's don't benefit from "rugged" exteriors nearly as much as an HDD's do.
@Wolfgang790tech
@Wolfgang790tech Год назад
That's true. I proffered the rubber texture as I feel I'd rather scratches on rubber than scratches on aluminum. I also bought a smaller storage normal T7 and put a removable rubber cover which might give the best of both worlds
@MichaelM-tt5wd
@MichaelM-tt5wd 9 месяцев назад
In my experience well known brands mostly use high quality rubbers (on silicone basis) that will last a very long time. Instead of becoming gummy or sticky, the rubber may loose some of it's softness over time, especially if exposed to direct sunlight on a regular basis. I also own some gear where the rubber surface became disgustingly sticky. For these, often CHEAP, "made in China" products, the rubber has an extreme chemical smell to start with.

Finally got mine 4TB from amazon (as of June 2023 it's $220+tax). These drives are great for Raspberry Pi home servers (samba + resilio sync + webDAV). I haven't got any problems after I switched to USB SSD drives 5 years ago (after damaged USB HDD drives that running 24x7). I had 500GB, then 1TB, then 2TB, now this 4TB will (and should) last longer before I fill it up 😂😂

@Wolfgang790tech
@Wolfgang790tech Год назад
Yeah, spinning drives (HDD) are much more fragile. If you shake them too much they can break. I would definitely recommend the T7 for your needs. I'd recommend the Shield just in case it gets any bumps and so on, just for a little more protection. The data would be safe regardless if you get the T7 or T7 Shield

I bought this because I take a lot of videos and needed a place to store them. I believe I properly installed it on my windows laptop. Where I'm stuck is i downloaded the app and it is not detecting my ssd. Which seems to be an issue for a lot of people. Looking for how to get my phone to see my ssd. I'm not a very tech savy person so I'm not completely sure I know what I'm doing.
@Wolfgang790tech
@Wolfgang790tech 11 месяцев назад
Hey, so if your PC sees it and your phone doesn't, then it's because you formatted the drive. If that's the case, real quick explanation, (read note at bottom before following steps) plug the drive to your PC, open file explorer, double click "This PC" on the bottom left, right click your SSD that should show up there, click "Format", in "File system" change it to exFAT, click start at the bottom. The drive should work on all devices once it's done. Note: THIS WILL DELETE EVERYTHING ON THE DRIVE. MAKE SURE EVERYTHING IS BACKED UP AS IT WILL NOT BE EASY TO RECOVER. Hope it works!

@@Wolfgang790tech Okay, so I formatted it to exFAT. Hopefully I can get it figured out.

Update, so apparently Samsung Magician is the app I needed and is the app that used to be Samsung SSD 1.0 that I was having trouble finding.
