W-Well, my washing machine makes this sound but it wasn't during one of my kitchen trips I heard that my neighbor also owns one of these due to this music (I live in an apartment), so here I am. I finally had to look at it.
Our dryer plays a shorter version of this but for some reason (I'm not a musician) it just kinda sounded 'off' to me like it's in the wrong key. So I was looking up other models just out of curiosity.
Can't believe I'm crying over this song. This was my family washing machine, and I remember when I was a kid listening to this every morning. Beautifull it recalls memories.

I don't get why people hates the song so much. Wouldn't you rather hear a loud 'BEEP BEEP BEEP' instead of a song? I like it, reminders me the kind of songs in Christmas decorations and children toys.
I’m a professional chamber musician, so I feel very proud when my washer and drier finish a cycle and I get to hear Schubert. The Trout Quintets is one of the great pieces ever written for String Ensemble.

It was written by Schubert years before as a piece for vocalist and piano put to the lyrics of a poem called “The Trout.” Near the end of his life, Schubert wrote the quintet and brought the theme back for the fourth movement and wrote a set of variations on it, making the quintet itself famously known as the “Trout Quintet.”
At 10:51 into Christopher Walken’s film called ‘Brainstorm’. Some people were playing an instrumental arrangement of this and the only other source of the tune I could think of was the washing machine… so I came here in search for answer and found them! Haha thx y’all

This brings back so many memories. I remember my grandma had this exact washer. Whenever I was over at her house, I always used to help load up the washer and I would sit in front/near the washer the whole time until it finished and I heard the song. I miss those days :(
My childhood friend’s parents had this washer and I remember loving to go there because I’d get away from my toxic household bc everything was so peaceful and there was no screaming and their washer would always go off
The song is "the trout" by Schubert. The lyrics to the song come from a poem about a fisherman catching a fish however they omit the moral from the original poem. The poem is an allagory about women choosing the right man. I think it is Samsung trying to be mockingly clever about women doing chores for men.
What is this, feminist logic? How many layers of reality distortion did you have to go though to make this about the oppression of women? The song as probably chosen because, 1, East Asian countries tend to put little motifs as alert sounds for appliances, 2, East Asian countries tend to regard Western European things as sophisticated, and 3, a song about fish and water would make sense for a machine that deals with cleanliness and water. I may be wrong, but your hypothesis fails Occam's razor a few times over.
my grandfather's washing machine at his house was a Samsung, and everytime I see this video and hear the jingle, it brings back memories of him. RIP grandpa!
So I've played the trout quintet and that's a blast and to study up on it, I decided to research the original song by Schubert. The comments then informed me that it's the song of the Samsung washer and this makes me eternally happy.
My 1 year old runs to the laundry room when it finished and this song starts. So I had to search for this. I was like smn must have recorded it. Thank u. U should see my son grin and dance to it now 😁
As of February 10th 2023 at 3:03 AM (don't ask) as I'm writing this, I have one of these exact machines. We've had it since as long as I can remember, and on Monday (February 13th, 2023) we will be replacing those machines. I can only hope new Samsung machines still have that chime, because I've heard it countless times and I've enjoyed it every single time.
Wonderful, classy, way to get the notification that the washer cycle has ended. Frankly, had I known about Schubert’s “De Forelle” before my purchase I would have bought the machine despite the other wonderful features like top loading, impeller, size, etc!
a freak storm took out our washer at the house, our replacement was a brand new (or near new, assuming it's pretty recent) samsung model and today when I went to go switch my laundry I was just in time to hear this! it's a different model but as far as I can tell, it's the same song! we also have one of their dishwashers seems to make a lot of the same sounds... I just think its cute :P
