@joacosoler8337 Год назад
@@ferrari5347 yes sir, those are my exact feelings when using mine. Seems like a less stronger hinge design, and like you have to completly open the phone in order to get it flush, and the Fold 3 in the last degrees of opening the hinge did the last part. Anyways, only time will tell! BTW, if you open it with a little more energy, you will find that the hinge works kinda the Fold's 3 one. Regards!

@richardabirached
@richardabirached Год назад
@Joaco Soler my f4 hinge isn't 100% smooth and towards the few last few degrees of opening, it gets loose and will open on its own from the weight of the half (also have the S pen case). So it kind of opens itself towards the very end. Not loose enough to close itself unles I try to flick the phone shut, it would then move from flat open orientation to partially closed before stopping. My buddy has the F4 and his hinge us tight and evenly smooth all the way. After seeing the break down, I don't understand why some F4s will have a looser or tighter hinge. Maybe amount of lubricant on certain spots of the metal sliding design? I'm sure most phones will get looser with some use. Despite my screen not holding itself up towards the last 25 degrees or so, it doesn't really affect everyday need or performance. I would never have my screen folded in that orientation for viewing and depending on which side is on the table, it will tip back anyways due to balance being off center.
@c11p
@c11p Год назад
As an owner of both the ZF3 and ZF4, you can definitely tell there's an engineering difference in how the device opens and closes. The ZF3 does feel smoother, in a way, and the ZF4 feels more solid. Both are marvels.

@@AndrewPL5They are both high end, large screen, expensive flagship smartphones. Comparing them is totally natural and normal Mr. Butthurt iSheep Apple Fanboy. 🤷 And Fold 4 really did fix most of the flaws with the tablet←→phone foldable concept w/ it's "just wide enough" front display (and without going overboard & making the tablet display a shitty fucking SQUARE, OnePlus Open style) and Schott's +50% stronger 2nd Gen UTG folding glass. If it had had Fold 5's much overdue "fold-flat hinge" it pretty much would have pretty much "been there" as far as "solving" the tablet/phone foldable.

@tea__low I really hope you did this while the phone was off. Put isopropyl alcohol on the phone. If you did it while it was on then yes it would short something, but if you did it while it's off that's absolutely impossible. Depending on the type of isopropyl alcohol you used. For electronics always use 85% and up. Even for me 85% is pushing it. Never use anything less. But I'm sorry I find it hard to believe you messed up your phone with isopropyl alcohol at a % I mentioned and the device being off. I can drown a motherboard if any kind in isopropyl alcohol and let it air dry for 5 minutes and it works at 100%

Yeah, that's rough because if you upgrade to a modern Samsung device, you lose expandable storage and if you don't get the ultra QHD. Hell you might even lose RAM. I really think the 10th generation of Samsung phones like the S and note were peak. I would trade $120 Hertz and 5G for a headphone jack, expandable storage, capacitive fingerprint sensor and the more thermally efficient processors any day.
@tea_low
@tea_low Год назад
@@orushimoru I used 98% Isopropanol, and the device was off, of course. What destroyed it was the fact that the Isopropanol dissolved the glue that holds the display to the polarising layer and the glass. It didn't kill it immediately, too. It worked perfectly at first but the next morning it slowly died. I might have used too much alcohol but I'm not a professional and the ifixit instructions didn't warn about this. (I don't blame ifixit, I blame Samsung for making it extra hard to remove a battery)

I mean it’s cool and all but I still Feel like it’s Samsung open beta testing on its customers. Cool for innovation I get That but these phones are completely planned to be obsolete. Foldable phones will undoubtedly fail (I’ve seen too many to count). If you get a new phone every 2 years cool. If you plan to keep it any longer I wouldn’t consider a fold as I could get a laptop and a phone for the same price. Or a tablet and a phone(that even performs better). The price and the inability for these things to last just keeps so many people away 😕. I like the idea I just don’t see it better than what we have now, perhaps it’s main uses are much beyond phone screens someday.

He could probably do a survivable peel but it'd require a lot of gentle prying and maybe isopropyl to relax the adhesive and be boringly slow. The fragility of the OLED really makes you appreciate it's covered by glass on your non-folding smartphones.

I finally took the plunge this year and got a fold4 to replace my note10+. I'm still not sure it was the right move. So far its been fine, but I don't find myself doing anything new on the fold that I wasn't doing on my old phone. I did keep my old phone instead of trading in tho since I'm not sure about the longevity of the folding screen and I'd rather have a reliable backup.

Expect the Fold3 to outlast a year with safe/gentle, & normal usage, but 2-3yr is a stretch. If you use heavily or abuse phone, expect it to last 8months. That's what happened to me. So no matter what they say, treat the phone well, for it to last. Samsung just reneged on my "broken screen" trade in, so now I have to pay 700 more and wait for it to return to me, before I can get it repaired, to then sell on my own. What a sham scam Samsung is not accepting broken screen when the site made me go thru a the efforts.

I went from a S22 Ultra to the Fold 4 and don't think I'll ever go back to a traditional phone. Was waiting for a better camera to make the switch, and improved case for the S-pen from Samsung. Thanks for the break down!

It's for that reason that this video is more of a "let's have a look what the phone looks like inside" video than it is a "see how to repair this phone" video. It's so sad seeing how downhill JerryRigEverything has gone since the early days.

Hey Jerry, why do you think Samsung keep releasing phones with such poor charging compared to their competitors, there is negligible improvement on all fronts, plugged-in, wireless and reverse charge. Other phones on the market are offering significantly higher charging rates, 65W, 100W, even 150W. I appreciate that with these speeds come heat and reduced battery life overall but Samsung just doesn't seem to be competing in this space. In the UK, I'm with the O2 network and their options each year usually result in Samsung or iPhone being the only true options for a flagship, seems disappointing with the price point of these devices that we aren't getting more innovation from Samsung in this area. Love the videos by the way, keep them coming!

Great video, it is awesome to see how advanced phones are getting these days. My only disagreement is with the battery tabs. I am still a fairly new phone technician and I have noticed that the tabs on batteries for 'easy' removal almost never work, at least for Apple phones specifically. You may get 1 or 2 of the tabs to come off but you are still forced to use heat or IPA to remove the battery anyways. I have yet to damage a battery from using IPA as long as I take my time with it. If the tabs worked most of the time I would agree with you but in my personal experience they do not. Cheers though, I might pick up the flip at some point since it is not as pricey.
