I used to play this song to my girlfriend and am no more in her life. She's got another boyfriend now. May they not have peace when they hear this song
This is proof music is universal. I literally only understand one word in the entire song... December but I have had this on replay since I stumbled upon it. Please @Samthing Soweto come to Kenya. 😍😍😍😍
Akanamali is more of a love song that narrates the pressure experienced in our society, where value/love is constantly substituted for material things. The song is structured by three roles, the friends trying to be a constant reminder that her friends might not approve of the entire relationship, the leading role, who against all the spoken words and influences still chooses love and settles for it despite the fact that "Akanamali" (he has no money), but he loves her for her and accepts all that she is. Then the guy who despites the fact that he doesn't have the money, announces that in December he's making it all official, he will be traditionally asking for her hand in marriage.
Not me realizing the bizarre fact that this guy owns this song... it's beyond impossible to sing this song if it isn't him himself... That's legendary right there
SA, you have to admit that you cant market yourself.. this man should be HUGGGEEEEEEE!!! this should be heard by the whole world..every year I am back to listen to this tune..
This beautiful song makes me reminisce about the first time I heard it. Me and my roommate were bathing in small buckets ( vaskom) . We were renting in a commune and heard it next room . We literally danced in the water . We were doing our in service training in gauteng and we fell in with it. Life was tough but the power of this song led us escape reality and visit a world of imagination. Now we both successful and I just sent the him the link to send him memory lane
3:57 when the audience interrupted him when he was preparing to GO OFF on us!!!!! If I were in the audience, I’d have probably interrupted him too 🙃🙃 I’ve watched this the past 4 years, and each time, it always transcends expectation!!!
Shocking how language is so universal. Akanamali. If you read that in swahili it translates to he/she doesn't have mali. Same thing in xhosa or whatever language he's singing in
Amazing..... Breathe taking... Felt like a congregation of beautiful souls in that auditorium. Africa is heaven. Hope you get to perform in Kenya 🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪 someday
This song speaks to the sadest part of my soul. I cry about all those things I don’t understand, all those things I pray for, all my fears and my hopes. Bless be the day Samthing Soweto wrote this song 🙏🏿
I see comments from people from different countries , they like the song without even understanding a single word , that's what I love about music , I listen to Oliver Mtukudzi but I can't hear the words....Big up
Samthing Soweto .... I guess you not from this Planet.... musicians who rhyme like you do , are rare onto this planet earth.... You an alien ✊✊✊ Continue doing the most Bra 🔥🔥
From Mozambique This guy is really awesome, I'm addicted since the first time I've seen him on Tuesdays with Robert Marawa. One of the best new comers... Keep going
ibw.multimedia9@gmail.com, not really a new-comer here cos he was one of the original members of The Soil, then he was with The Fridge before turning solo.
Wow the comments below are kind and which truly shows that no language can seperate the true meaning of art. May the good faith travel towards everyone.
Those who unliked this soulful performance .....know nothing about music. This is African music at its best...I see it as jealosy.... Sam is a living legend....Thumbs up from Botswana
