The moment Jack fought with his eyes closed for a minute... you knew he was gonna win. If Jack can hold his own without eyes, when he got his sight back Afro stood no chance.
Honestly I thought Afro was gonna try to use to use Jack's sword against him, but then realize it cannot harm him since it was forged from righteousness.
@@cannondorf Aku IS 100% pure evil given he was born from a bit of evil space monster tentacle that the gods themselves were fighting, yet Aku couldn't use Jack's sword to kill him when he tried
13:09 I like the "Your sword smells of blood" line. As he's a defender of the area, he'd spring into hero mode to take out a threat. With Afro responding, "So does yours", it's a good reminder that Jack's hands aren't clean either. He's got blood on his sword now too.
@@darksideofevil13 Yeah it does. Jack's no longer clean, he's spilt human blood in season 5. A smell Afro would recognize well, given his line of work, but now Jack does too. Both swords smell of blood.
@@dr.darkcrow6784 Even before Season 5, Jack fought the Lava Monster. Although cursed, he was technically still human but/and Jack got a good reason to kill since the warrior wanted to go to Valhalla which can only be achieved by dying in combat. And yeah. Regardless of reasons, Jack did kill someone.
I think it's a case of mentality. Jack is noting that afro is a murderer Afro is mistakenly assuming that Jack is coming after his headband. This could of course be something like jack needing the headband to return to the future but otherwise this could genuinely be Jack trying to be a hero and Afro doing his normal thing.
Well he lost a arm so he may need to look into a robot arm first but if he gets one that's as good or better they his original then ya no one is geting it
I’m hopping they make it a fair fight with someone on his level, mainly being facts. Samurai jack has more seasons and more episodes than Afro samurai. Therefore, Afro never stood a chance with little content
Well, technically they didn’t HAVE to, it could’ve ended in a tie, since they’ve done that before, albeit very rarely. Of course, based on their research, Jack was the more clear winner.
I think it’s the number 2 headband cause when they talking about Afro they said only the number 2 can Challange the number 1 and Jack didn’t had a headband
@@dereknight861 afro: wait..is that darkness I smell? Jack:yeah I mostly killed robots and some weird demon thing,my dad killed the people Afro:yikes..
there actually is ONE episode of samurai jack that references his newfound jumping power. Jack and the scotsman get stranded on an island, well, they're both so gentlemanly that they end up in a contest with each other to decide who gets to do the work and rescue the other. One contest the scotsman decided on was a jumping contest, jack wins and just says "jump good"
Though the final season did demonstrate that if Jack feels he is unworthy for the sword, it will abandon him until Jack is ready for it again. Meaning Jack is susceptible to emotional attacks that would cripple his overall effectiveness (he nearly died to the daughters of Aku).
A little late, but your final sentence reminded me of a quote, and I'll paraphrase. The man you want to never anger is the one that wants to be left alone. When you push him too far, he'll never back down, since he's fighting with the anger and ferocity of a man avenging a loved one. He's avenging himself, and avenging the innocence he had before the battle.
JOSE A AGUILERA JUAREZ I always kind of figured the headbands were just a status symbol, like proof of how strong they are without actually enhancing their power.
Actually Jack would remind Afro of his childhood friend, Sousuke, and Jack would just be delighted to meet someone who is well versed in the Bushido Teachings (just like when Jack met the Shaolin Monks in the Future)
@@lmeza1983 except that fight was short as hell, and obvious from the damn start. Omni man should have fought someone like Bardock since it was a much more even fight.
@@JugularJohn blame fan suggestions on that one since it was incredibly heavily requested Which if anything shows they might want to slow down on heavily requested fights if they are incredibly obvious
This is so far one of my most favorite episodes of Death Battle. This was a pretty awesome battle I love how the fight was hand drawn. Shame that means the battle had to be short (for good reasons knowing the details that was put in and everything.) Still great episode! Can't wait to see Carnage vs Lucy!
3:26 The episodes where Jack was a background character were some of the best. These 6 Mercs all teamed up with the one goal to kill Jack, spent a whole episode plotting their plans together to overwhelm him with teamwork and he brushed it all off in less than a second.
See, now that’s actually a really interesting question though. Thematically they have very little in common (although Logan _has_ done the whole Samurai thing before), but I’m legitimately curious who would win. Jack’s sword might be one of the few things capable of harming Wolverine, but he’s one tough SOB and they both have superhuman strength and skills. Would be interesting to see how that fight plays out.
Gotta be honest, this is probably the most balanced Death Battle in history. No fancy powers, no high-tech armor or gadgets, nothing. Just two samurai and their swords, a match of skill and skill alone.
As much as I like both Jack and Afro, you have to admit that Jack is too OP for Afro, a better set up would have been Mugen from Samurai Champloo and Afro
Jack: *looses an arm* Boomstick: Ummm, is he going to get his arm or... Me: No worries, either it will reappear in the next episode or he'll get a sweet full-functioning prosthetic.
As much as I love Jack and Afro, I knew Jack was gonna win. It helps that he has over 50 years of experience and training but also helps that his sword was made by gods. At least Afro had his Afro.
I would like to see if someone made a death battle fanon between Samurai Jack, and Afro Samurai vs Guts The Black Swordsman, and Kirito the black swordsman.
You do know they don't have to kill with their swords, right? Jack went 67 years without spilling the blood of another. Plus when your sword has such a clear scent of blood, that's not a good sign.
Well, in case you didn't know, most swords don't have such a distinct smell, and even less do when they look cleaned. Even if a sword has cut through someone, it wouldn't smell unless you literally held it to your nostrils and took a big whiff, and that's only if it's actually dripping with blood rather than cutting someone and then being washed off before smelling it. Basically, it IS a big surprise. The fact that Jack and Afro can plainly detect such a distinct amount of blood from each other's sword in a clean, polished state proves how much bloodshed they've caused, which is a bad vibe to be sending a fellow samurai/ronin.
@@mrreyes5004 even if you wipe off/clean the blood with water, it's still there. You'll need something called "hydrogen peroxide" to really remove the blood.
I don't think the swords literally smell of blood, I think that's just sort of a metaphor for saying, "I can tell you've killed people." And while I wouldn't expect olive oil, various oils are often used in cleaning swords so I'd expect a well-maintained sword to smell like oil, yeah.
I fell like afro and jack were pretty even in sword skills but jack was wayy too fast and stronger than afro not to mention 50 freaking years of experience so it was pretty obvious jack was gonna win
But you do realize Afro kills multiple men in a single blow & before they're blood comes out he also defeated robots 2x faster than him also be a reincarnated father of his also stronger than his original self and be a guy that goes hands from his back that had another one had been so samurai Jack probably is none of it at his lead he's close but he wouldn't win actually
Not the only mention afro shattered bullets and pieces witch I never heard jack doing 🤷🏾♂️. But I mean the bate is someone opinion I just believe that it's incorrect information but it's a cartoon nothing really to argue about
Well that's how it work for the 4 seasons. Any battle damage is all fixed up the next episode, but in season 5 any battle damage stay there. He was slowly losing his clothes in the first few episodes.
I'm confused about something though, as I've never seen Afro Samurai. If you are wearing the #2, and you kill the guy with the #1, who gets the #2 band?
Being fair, Samuel L. Jackson did the voice acting for Afro, as well as Ninja-ninja. Which kinda lends credence to the idea that Ninja-Ninja was just a figment of Afro's imagination.
@@megatennepster3833 i like to think the scottsman gets to the bridge right when the fight ends and is like "ach! not only do i miss a banger of the fight, but now i gots to go the long way!" ....hey deathbattle. put the scotsman in a fight.
@@zxtreme31 personally I am hoping the Demifiend appears in death battle. He's SMT's most iconic superstrong character that even the series acknowledges is busted", but I can think of some characters who can take him on.
@@ricebowl733 death battle has had some amazing song fights. Some of the ones I thought had especially great music: All might vs might guy Optimus prime vs gundam (so 80s!) Thor vs Vegeta The mega man battle Royal Broly vs hulk (ikari) And my favorite is believe it or not: goro vs machamp. That fight music is such a perfect blend of the Pokémon and mortal kombat music styles.
this is still, to date, my favorite death battle. The animation was so good and I felt like I didn't know right away who was going to win. The fight itself was tense but also drawn back by the very real moment of afro complimenting Jack's jumping. And since neither had any special abilities the fight was short and sweet and was a true homage to both of their skills as swordsmen. I cannot express enough how fantastic this death battle is in my opinion.
It took him a while to even do this, when he first discovered they were human with real blood, he freaked out and refused to fight further against them until he had absolutely no choice left.
Drink Me Due to censorship problems with CN, Tartakovsky had to use oil in place of blood in the original four seasons of Samurai Jack. This meant Jack fought mainly robots back then. Also, if you haven’t watched at least Samurai Jack S5 (the newer Adult Swim season), then I would recommend it VERY highly.
afro and jack are more simuler when it comes form the worlds they come from .kenshin isnt set in a fantasy setting and would be out of place . i think mugen from samuria champoo would be a perfect match up for kenshin instead
傭兵Cloud since screwattack loves cherry picking Dissidia, you've taken on summons and can use poison and time stop in NT..... Breath of the Wild shows the Hyrulian shells can break Yeah, you win...
Dang. I have seen all of Samurai Jack (almost twice, now watching it with my kids) and I was really rooting for him. When I saw he lost his arm, I was pissed that he lost, but then he pulled it through. Hell Yeah! Now, I need to look up this other dude and watch some of that!
don't worry, robotic arms is not lacking in this future, he can even get an adamantium one from that scientist the befriended, also, the lost arm was so clean cut I bet he can reattach it in a hospital
@@italucenaz Meanwhile, Jack trains himself to fight one armed, becoming even more formidable than before. Once his new/healed arm is ready, he ties the other one behind his back to train with that one. Jack becomes even deadlier. And peace loving. And introspective and nice. And someone attacks! He destroys them.
ThreePunch5 um no he said he's strong enough to break swords was anybody listening to what he said Afro Samurai been won but it was the fact he was BLACK
I mean, real samurai vs self-proclaimed samurai. Sounds about right who's win. Also, knowing he's a ronin pisses me off; they could have named him Afronin! That's so much cooler than just Afro.
You know else is personal slavery so when I meet racist people I'm gonna cut them with my ninja sword or kunai knife which I will buy from Amazon I'm serious about that though Amazon actually sells swords claw gauntlets guns kunai and much much more
don't forget his ghost song which can stop a rain of arrows that destroyed a giant robots roof (and he is imnune to sirens singing stating them as cats screaming)
