This is a play-through using Minazuki Zankuro in Story Mode in the PS1 version of Samurai Spirits: Amakusa Kourin Special. Read on below for more information...
Zankuro is a special final boss in the game. He is an unlockable playable character in VS Mode, but he cannot be used in a single player game.
===== Additional Information =====
---- As an unplayable character in single-player mode, Haohmaru will always be your opponent for all the stages. I have cut the middle stages out, leaving just the 1st and final stages.
---- Once you defeat Haohmaru on the final stage, the game will lock up. This is because he has no ending programmed in.
---- When in matches, the BGM stops and restarts between rounds for some reason. This doesn't happen in the arcade version.
===== About Zankuro =====
A mean-looking massive samurai with a very long-ranged sword. He definitely makes a good boss for the series but I've always thought that in his stance, the way he holds his sword looks a bit silly. He is re-used as a boss for SS4 from the prequel, which is a shame because it meant that there was no new boss at all.
Gameplay-wise, his basic moves are quite long ranged and his standing Strong slash is just sickening. His special moves are also fairly good as well, particularly his Charge Punch. It should also be noted that he has less special moves than his SS3 counterpart.
===== About PS1 Samurai Shodown 4 =====
PS1 SS4 is a mediocre port. Due to the PS1's hardware limitations, a lot of animation sprite frames have been cut for the characters and the game suffers from slowdown quite a bit. However unlike SS3, they seem to have improved on the slowdown. Unfortunately, the dreaded 'slight-pause-before-fight-starts' is back, just like in PS1 SS1.
The loading times are of course quite bad, but this cannot be avoided of course. On the upside, the game takes advantage of the PS1 hardware and uses the SS4 AST soundtrack.
