I know the Samurai Shodown series has always been about harsh whiff punishing and far less about combos, but damn, some of those moves do insane damages :D

Now that I’ve seen top players in a SamSho match, I can never watch this game again in peace

SamSho is more entertaining for the player, rather than the spectator. Being in the heat of battle is what counts. This isn’t a button masher. It’s very rewarding when you adapt to the play style of this game. One mistake and it’s over in a blink of an eye.

Never ceases to amaze me how unforgiving this game is. If you get caught things just snowball hard for you

I love how jwong and Chris g basically swapped playstyles from their umvc3 days. Chris g is round 1 xfactoring going in, while jwong is playing keep out. (yes I know jwong is a footsie master)

I been debating on if I should buy this game or not, I think I am going to. This game looks there is a lot of footsies and reactions involved, which fits my style of gameplay.

Was gonna buy this game after work today... And after watching these 2 guys play... 🤣 I see the game hasn't changed very much... 🤷🏾‍♂️ Was waiting for kazama sogetsu and basara... But screw it.. Gotta show the world how it's done

Tam-Tam is far from OP and has always had this style of play. Tam-Tam is usually far from good in most games he's in and almost nothing has changed. People just don't know how to deal with it yet as this is a lot of people's first Samsho title. Honestly, Haohmaru is higher tier then Tam-Tam. Tam-Tam is not top tier. Haohmaru has great damage and range, cancelable f,f+MS, invincible DP, 8frame WFT that goes half-screen and hits aerial, a projectile reflect, a +on block projectile, and a 5frame f,f+LS that is huge and safe when spaced while also un-parryable due to being a punch and many other reasons. I just hope people give the meta more time to develop before the nerf hammer they cried for smashes characters that may have not even needed it.

I love samsho because it lacks combos. As I see, every combo briefly takes one player out of the game while the other plays against himself (and his execution). Don't get me wrong, I know combos are plastic and mainstream. But, for me (and I don't think I'm alone on this), the beauty is on the neutral game. Not combos, not resets, not mixups, not 50-50, not frame traps..... P U R E N E U T R A L!

this game really simplifysthe 2d fighting style, i like it quite a bit. if you know 2d fighters at all you can jump right in and enjoy a good match

5 Special was the peak of the series. 2 had the charm, 4 had the graphics, 5 Special had the deep balanced gameplay. Best fighting game ever made (5sp) and it's not even close. Last Blade 2, kof 98/2k2 next.

When you think about it, this game is really like a sword fight in real life, 1 screw up and you can die. Kinda gives you a bit of the rush real swordsman had.

Quem reclama desse game não conhece mesmo a mecânica, tá muito mais redondo que muito jogo no cenário, os caras reclamando que tá lento, é que basicamente samurai não é pra esmagadores de botão né. E o Chris mandou muito bem, vai ser muito legal ver os top na EVO, Samurai tem muito potencial pra marcar os grandes momentos no torneio.

I guess this may explain why the past couple days have been like 80% Haohmaru opponents when I play. Was wondering where all the Genjuro's went.

Wong missed too much guaranteed medium slash which is the strongest point of Tamtam, of course there is risk of get parried but without using it, why do you use Tamtam anyway? And giving away the space all along the battle was really bad choice because Tamtam can't punish tornado(I can't remember the name).

I think game mechanics have to be simple like parrying. But other things can be challenging like inputs and such ha ha lmao ha ha ha :D

For the price of this game it should have came with at least a mix of character's from sam sho 1-4 and the load time is insane.

This game has nrs levels of zoning. With street fighter levels of footsies. From what I can tell from not playing it whatsoever. Soooo...could be wrong.

Samsho is pretty boring when you're watching, especially for KOF type comboholics. But it's very fun when you're playing as you have to be very caution before making any moves, just like a swords dual, one mistake would make you pay heavily. Something need to improve is the throw and pretty unbalanced, some characters are totally hopeless + useless and only less than 5 chars are really top tier competitive. The only best side is the artworks, so old school japanese style and very detail. This game is more an incredible art gallery than a good fighting game.
