Review:
This next instalment is just ore of the same with more Characters. I am playing these games in order just once so I can’t really tell what the differences are. This one seemed a lot easier than the others as I didn’t need to use save states and was able to get through the majority of fights without loses. Granted I had the easiest settings on but that didn’t stop the previous games from being rock hard.
I was breezing through the game until I hit the last boss. I knew it would be hard, but not this hard. I just couldn’t get near him. Even if I used save states, it wouldn’t have helped because I needed a serious tactic because I couldn’t knock any health off. I finally found the tactic of backing up and drawing him in with fireballs. Once he got close, I would mash crouching weak hit. It was a long slog but this tactic was gold.
Once I defeated him, another boss came along. This was just as hard. Fortunately, mashing low weak hit was the key to winning again. Just a bit of luck required. Once he was defeated, a third final boss appeared! This was getting ridiculous. After breezing through the game quickly, you are given 3 rock hard bosses in a row. They all took a long time, but the last one was even longer. It was still a case of crouch hitting but being very careful with the blocks. Again, it was all about luck and often winning on time out.
I honestly wouldn’t have had a chance if I didn’t find these cheesy ways of winning.
I did enjoy this game up until the last bosses. The moves are really good. Just a shame you can’t win with skill. Although this is the same story with nearly all fighters like this but this is the first time I’ve encountered three last bosses.
