Drums playing during the fatalities just adds something extra to it all!

I like how this video shows the special of a particular character and then immediately shows that character killed by another character, instead of showing the same character being destroyed by everyone. Everyone gets his turn lol

I'm not going to lie. While these fatalities are badass the artwork of the characters on the post-battle screen is pretty epic. Super old school feeling to it.

Hanzo... precursor to MK9 & MKX X-Rays. Damn. Uryu is my favorite of them all along with Yoshitora. So many swords.

Suija has the most gruesome fatality.

Tam Tam and Kyoshiro are tied with the toastiest fatality and my most favorite was Nakoruru's. Still, Mina's death was a little bit sad due to the fact that the little kid next to her cried when Yunfei "sliced her soul."

Just wanted to post this for those who are curious. To do the fatalities, you must be playing Samurai Shodown 5 Special (Set 1), with your emulator set to "Arcade" instead of "Neo Geo." Otherwise, you will do a generic finisher. To actually do the fatalities, you must be in the final round of the fight. When your opponent's health is low and flashing blue, use Rage Explosion (ABC together), then set off the fatality with quarter circle back + CD. You only have one shot, so don't waste it. =)

I have always loved the character design for Samurai Showdown/Samurai Spirits. Genjuro has been a steady favourite since he appeared in SSII. I loved watching that vid, thanks for sharing.

I was TOTALLY addicted to the Samurai Showdown series coming up!! I wouldn't stop playing until....I got married. hee hee...even then...it was an awesome series...great vid. I missed the old man with the big hat...haha. Jubei ruled!

I'm back here again after 15 years and I can't get enough of Samurai Shodown when I had my best impression about Mina Majikina as my favourite archer character. Mina Majikina was my 3rd favourite archer video game character on my list. First being was Koei Warriors series Warriors Orochi archer Ina and second being was Kung Jin from Mortal Kombat X.

Galford: 7 ( it was ok) Ukyo: 9.5 (badass) Kyoshiro: 8 (Not bad) Jubei: 9.5 (He quartered his ass) Charlotte: 7.5 (meh) Tam Tam: 4 (-_-) Genjuro: 10 (He would be scary in real life) Shizumaru: 5 (...) RImururu: 5.5 (She's cute, all the reason to keep it tame) Basara: 10 (I don't want to know how he ripped her apart) Gaira: 8 (Pretty creative) Kazuki: 6 (Eh...) One of the reasons why I want to learn Japanese is because of the live-action TV shows, animes, & Japanese versions of games (that doesn't arrive to the U.S. at all) that I watch & play all of the time. Japan usually gets all the good stuff more so than the U.S. does. I certainly know what you mean by SNK's translations. When translated to English, they're actually saying things by the Engrish language, LOL.

Samurai shodown anthology will be out between early Feb and March of 2009 for Ps2, psp, and Wii. Reserve it when u have the chance, this is an excellent collection and a must have! Hands down baby

To answer all those asking what system this game is for, it was released for the arcade on the Neo Geo MVS arcade system and was available for the Neo Geo home console. However, it may be included in the SS collection possibly coming out in 2007 for PS2. Yes, I know about MAME.

Dude, Galford's dog Poppy just completely destroyed Hanzo. Awesome. And Suija's and Rasetsumaru's are just plain sadistic. Sucks that Sankuro isn't shown here though, if he actually has a finishing move...

Oh yeah, I remember the first (and only time) I played this game. I chose the blue guy at 1:21 with a fox, and I pwned my cousins, who were at the time better gamers than I was, in 5 straight fights! Good times, good times.

You must have several prerequisites: 1: The opponent must be on his final round (e.g. in a best-of-5 match, your opponent must have already lost two rounds) 2: The opponent must be able to use the 'State of Nothingness' which means his health must be blue, 3: Activate rage explosion (ABC) 4: do qcb+CD note: THE MOVE IS BLOCKABLE!!! If you mess up, you will lose your super bar for the rest of the match

And that, kids is why you will STAY AWAY from strangers, even if they look like your favorite character from Samurai Shodown!!!!

It's the main reason why this "special" edition wasn't publicly released in arcades. It's exclusively for the AES version.

haven't play this game for ages. bring back fantastic memories. still love the arcade interface but can't really get it here nowadays. my favourite character is still genan and kuroko, which i feel is the most powerful.

When you have full POW meter, just press ABC to go into RAGE mode, then before the timer runs out, press qcb (quarter-circle back)+CD for the Decimation. Alternatively with full POW meter you can go into Issen mode by pressing BCD, then press BCD again for the Issen slash.

this is the uncensored version. Because of an incident, the SS5/Special that was released had the fatalies taken out...among other things.

Yes, I know the move is called 'Zetsumi Ougi', but I can clearly hear the announcer say 'Zetsumi Shouri'. Just like when you get a perfect in 'The Last Blade' they say 'Kanzenshouri', which means 'Ultimate victory'

these fatalities a re ridiculous, one is eating the man alive, one is a rain of blood, the other is ripping the heart out, no wonder I can't find this game anywhere

Haohmaru (the guy that cuts Mizuki in the very first fatality) and Nakoruru (the girl with the hawk who stabs Haohmaru in the second fatality) are considered to be the "mascot" characters of the game, although Ukyo and Galford are up there in popularity, too.

What's funny is in SSVI pretty much all these fatalities are now special attacks.
