Awesome video. Also love Samurai Swords as a system and have played it for many years. Have a group meeting up tomorrow to play... I love introducing it to some new players and seeing the way all the thematic elements mesh "click" into place. Especially 5 players, has a great "knife fight in a phone booth" vibe. Loved hearing about some of those variants, especially the map related ones. May have to try some of them out some day... Thank you for sharing!

I'm assuming that some might not work well together as they combine multiple possible victory conditions/objectives and create confusion (e.g. Regalia and Tenka)? 2. Do you have a link for the battle board with cavalry class shown at 16:50? 3. Your thoughts on permanently fortified provinces? And if you use them, in combination with what other mods? Thanks again!
Thank you for the response. 1.You are correct. Never try to overplay the mods. Usually I present the options to the group and we decide by committee. Recently it's been strategy cards with Tenka. The game before that it was cavalry with terrain map. I remember one game we just played Regalia and I thought it was fun. 2.I can't find my file at the moment! I hope I didn't delete it. It might be on a thumb drive somewhere. I will have to look for it. If I find it I will upload it to BGG. 3.The terrain map and fortification mods I find are harder to get to the table. Recently I've been playing with casual gamers and they really don't care too much about strategy and odds they are more about just rolling some dice and pushing pieces -around which is fine too. Like you suggested before ,I suggest picking one or two mods per game. MIx and match combo's. You'll want to play more games that way! Thanks again.
I know this is a year old but have you ever played the Total War computer game Shogun or the better versions Shogun 2? As n avid Shogun player back in the day it had many similarities and is a great game for a computer game.
Each Regalia is worth X number of provinces towards the overall total you need to win the game. I think we made the spirit sword worth 5 provinces last time we played. Remember with Regalia rules you also have to build and control a fortress in Yamashiro to be named Shogun of Japan. In our game the holder of the spear/trident could do amphibious invasions without penalty. Cheers
