Something I've noticed out of mr. Cummins (and feel free to answer if you read this Antony) he doesn't take on the title of Soke or Roshi, or sensei or whatever else, of Natori Ryu, I'm not a member, but I appreciate what he's done for ninjutsu. It's just an interesting side not that he doesn't claim some big important title that you see in most martial arts (espicially classical ninjutsu) organizations. On that note, is mr. Cummins the head of the organization? Or just the founder and figurehead? The is a difference.

Matt greg parker from flashpoint or greg park the fake korean ninjutsu guy? Because the ninjutsu guy's claims are completely bogus

Hoping that's not a real knife being used in the demonstrations. There are better substitutes that can be used, and you always treat a weapon with respect. Firearms are always likely to be loaded; knives are always likely to cut or stab somebody, even in the best circumstances.

0:14 Noooo...! Someone's stealing my idea for a mon! Not literally, but man, it's close. This definitely looks as though it'd be an experience to attend.

+Anthony Sforza THat does not metter in historical context, many clans shared mon.

MCShvabo I know... I was just going to use mine as an actual logo though, which may create some legal issues for myself if it's already taken, that's all. Mine doesn't have the mitsudome though... jaja, I just thought I was being super original with it.
@MCShvabo

Anthony Sforza Yeah, that is the issue if you want to use it commercialy, what I did is I took a mon that is rarely used (and is also kind of conected to me) and then changed it abit, so I hope nobody else uses it.

MCShvabo Jaja, that's pretty much what I'd done. Except that I'd combined two of them. Like the outside of the Oda one, like the one in the video, just with a different one than the three tomoe.

Ian Evans i dont think you get the point these seminars are too teach the forgotten parts of kenjutsu and many kenjutsu teachers outside japan teach very limited parts of the different schools kinda ends up being a crap show might find a good teacher but not in the type of kenjutsu you want to practice

Cheesepirate lol there are many people who can recreate a martial art whilst not being able to perform it themself its called simply finding documented discriptions or depictions and ive seen teachers with schools in my city who are less knowledgable about swords some think a katana can actually cut through steel or a tree others only know the drawing and basic kata some know the kata but have no idea how to apply it to a combative situation also hows he barely holding it there are multiple ways to hold a sword yes you should necessarily hold it right at the top near the guard but how many hema people make this mistake my own sensei though it was for karate was an 8th dan he also practiced kenjutsu and even he didnt hold it whats considered properly but hed also whoop my ass in a sword fight like look at viking sword hema guys bitch and argue over handshake vs hammer grip when in truth both work and it probably came down to what you consider i personally handshake grip almost all swords slightly even if your not necessarily supposed to also the whole modern drawing thing isnt how it was done back in the days many modern practices in kenjutsu iai and other japanese sword arts are modern additives also as the seminars are probably more about everyone helping everyone he may show stuff but im also willing to bet other people show him and the others things practiced in their kenjutsu school not practiced in others

+bmxriderforlife1234 , Antony Cummins demonstration in the above video shows significant deficiencies in technique, movement and timing. The man can not even throw a convincing punch, let alone hold or draw a blade, and his cutting techniques are appalling. His usage of bladed weapons including the tanto and katana is appalling. Of course Cummins does not appreciate this as he did not even get to the student level in martial arts, actually apologies he got an orange belt in karate, but now he decides he is an expert in Samurai warfare. You are doing the subject a massive disservice by teaching and demonstrating when your basics are so terrible. He substitutes speed for correct movement, people often use speed or strength to patch deficiencies in technique, as Cummins is doing. He can not even throw a correct punch, his blade work is equally inadequate. Are you arguing that because other people teach martial arts with out the skill, knowledge and ability to do so that it is OK that Cummins does the same? When people start to teach with out skill you get videos show casing embarrassing movement and skills like this one. If someone can not do the basics they should not be teaching.

Do your students know that you learned everything from poorly translated books and not a thing from actual training with a competent instructor?
@Darkkrap
@Darkkrap 8 лет назад
Mr Cummins book won't teach you how to fight, it is too complicated. You need a master/instructor who teaches you how to do what is written in books the correct way.

I'm pretty sure EVERONE knows that he's a historian (an accomplished one)and not a martial art master and also these are historical demonstrations not self defense classes.
