I visited San Angelo, a city of 100,000 people in rural West Texas. It's a nice town, with an impressive collection of street artwork and water lillies. In the beginning of the video, I visit Uvalde, Texas, where an impressive memorial has been set up.

It's a beautiful small city, RR. The river walk is gorgeous, and very family oriented. We stayed at a "hotel cluster" as I call them - Holiday Inn, Hilton Home2 Suites, Courtyard By Marriott, Springhill Suites, etc...they were all new, and the area around there was very nice. And with 100,000 people, it's also big enough to have everything you need. But it still feels like a small town. Best of both worlds.

Who knew there were so many types of water lilies? Being somewhat horticulturally challenged, I always thought a water lily was just a water lily 😁 San Angelo looks like a nice, family-friendly place to live. And kudos to whoever has been responsible for preserving those historical buildings you showed. I hate to see such places allowed to become run-down. The murals are wonderful, they add color and liveliness to a town - provided they're well-executed of course, as these ones are. I'm a sucker for street fairs, or however the locals may refer to them. You never know what cool stuff might be on offer to look at or buy. Agreed, that '59 Corvette was sweet!

Lover of water lilies? Of course! Your videos have made it plain that you're a romantic at heart (Nature, old buildings and out-of-the-way, time-forgotten places). The building behind the closed theatre facade seems older than the theatre and built for an earlier purpose (may have been a pre-cinema 'music hall').

San Angelo is a strange mix...college town..military town...retirement town..its a large town with small town mentality. People are friendly...something i didn't understand til i moved away a few brief times. It is the kind of town where you can walk down the street and make eye contact with someone and say hello to the stranger and they don't shrink away in suspicion..they will greet you in kind. Its an excellent place to raise kids...new kids are welcomed not excluded..also a lesson learned. Overall San Angelo is worth visiting..or moving to.

I used to leave the base just about daily to eat, I remember a little diner on Chadbourne where they served the best biscuits & gravy on the planet. I bought my first pair of cowboy boots here, and still remember the friendliness of all the people I met. Thanks again, the modern San Angelo is beautiful, thank you for highlighting it in your vlog. I heard you say you are making your way to Gulfport. There’s some great places to eat but they are out of the way. I live in Long Beach. If you enjoy seafood this is the place. But your right there are towns in Mississippi that time has forgotten unfortunately. Years ago I went to a town up in the northeast of Mississippi. I was amazed that people even lived there. It was definitely a place that time has forgotten. Armory, Mississippi

Thank you for the tips, Curtis. You're gonna, probably, most likely, see us having a meal in Long Beach now. And I see it's right next to Gulf Port. Anyway, we love Mississippi. After Texas, I think we've done more videos in Mississippi than any other state. And we're about to do more! BTW, my wife loves Gulfport. :)

Mary Mahoney’s Old French house and McElroys Harbor House in Biloxi are places to hit up. Dan B's Restaurant & Bar In the Bay has an excellent breakfast. Dempsey's In the Kiln is our go to seafood place. More bang for the buck. Be careful what you order. You will be taking food home with you.. Cuz’s in the Bay. Never had a bad meal there. Harbor view in LB is spot on but can get loud dining inside. Bacchus On The Beach in The Pass has it all. Excellent specials. Downtown Gulfport has some good dining places. The Chimneys Restaurant, Salute Italian Restaurant. Check out menus cause there’s a couple places that are pricey. Just depends on your budget. Crawfish is out of season.

Playing the opening theme song to GOT would dispel any notions questioning LS masculinity for watching lilies 🌸. Could be the combo Columbus Day/Craft Brew Beer festival you came up on. Can't seem to avoid vloging those poor doggies I see...🙂

My hometown ❤️. I was forced to move to Midland 9 years ago for work and I can't wait to move back. I love San Angelo but as it is a college/retirement town, if you aren't in college or retired you are kind of screwed. There just isn't anywhere to work for a good livable wage (Unless) you know someone that can get you in or you have 2+ years experience. A good portion of people have to work 2 - 4 part time jobs to make a living and most of the jobs are unwilling to work around your schedule. So it is hard for most to say the least, if you are fortunate enough to move up or land a good job, you have it made in the shade because San Angelo is one of the nicest places you can live.

The poor victims...thank u for showing Uvalde. The biggest thing I've noticed in this video and the last several towns- not a lot of downtown graffiti, if any! Interesting due to lower crime rates. What an amazing car show, BOMBS, those beautiful low riders. My dad would love the boot shops in San Angelo. Thank you so much for sharing!

Thanks for putting a spotlight on the town I've lived in for most of my life at this point(not from here originally, but I've been here since the early 90s). Like all towns, there will always be their issues but I can speak confidently that this is a very nice place to both grow up in and also raise a family which isn't something a lot of people can say about a lot of places.

Just curious as I know that pronunciation of Spanish place names are sometimes pronounced differently from the original Spanish by the Americans. Is that how the Texans say Uvalde without the Spanish inflected ending? In the county in CA that I came from there are Spanish names that we pronounced in an American way and it sounded funny to hear Americans from someplace else pronounce them in the original Spanish way.

If you ever find yourself back in San Angelo, I'd suggest visiting Pop Art Alley, which is also downtown. There's some neat works of art there, some done by myself and other art students at the university. The art museum is a great place to visit too!

It's not feminine to want to see the water lilies. You're just sharing it with your fans and viewers! I'll never go there and see it, so thank you. I've also never seen the Uvalde Memorial, nor will I. Such a senseless tragedy, but also such a beautiful tribute.

People saying S.A is boring and sucks must love heavy traffic and crime so why stay in a small town if it sucks? I was born and raised here and use to be simple minded and use to say the same things about S.A. Then moved to Austin for a couple years and realized how good we have it. Granted it may not be much but it’s enough to make it home. And traffic is picking up quite a bit here and is starting to be dangerous on the loop with ppl texting and speeding. So by all means leave if it’s that bad here! Thanks!

Just googled San Angelo as you were looking at the car's, see that it's geographically right in the heart of Texas. San Angelo is drawing me in, so much I like about it. The history and vibe reminds me somewhat of Prescott AZ, a Western Town back in the day full'of brothels, saloons and gunslinger's. Great narrative and video talent, Lord Spoda.

@@jmcosmos you are correct, Brady is closest to the center of Texas. San Angelo is in Tom Green County, Concho County is between Tom Green and McCulloch. Brady is about an hour and a half drive away.

I spent 3 of the most wonderful years of my young adult life in San Angelo attending Angelo State University! You missed a beautiful campus if you didn't make it over there before you left! I got to explore some of those same places you showed even though they really improved the river area downtown since I was there. The only thing I remember being on the river was a miniature golf course under the bridge! I was there during the school years of 1979-1980 and 1980-1981 (graduating that summer- B.S. in Biology) and again in 1982-1983 (to complete courses for a teaching certificate and did my student teaching at Lake View High School). Go Rams!
