After Bradley Beal sank two free throws to tie the game, DeMar DeRozan attacked the basket and banked in a layup in traffic to give the Spurs a 2-point lead with 5.5 seconds remaining. Beal then drove to the rim on the subsequent possession but was met by a host of Spurs in the lane as San Antonio hangs on to earn a 124-122 victory over the Wizards. LaMarcus Aldridge led the Spurs with a game-high 27 points (10-17 FG, 2-3 3pt FG), along with 9 rebounds, while DeRozan added 26 points (11-24 FG), 4 rebounds and 3 assists in the victory. Beal led the Wizards with 25 points (8-24 FG, 3-8 3pt FG) and 11 assists, while former Spur Davis Bertans tallied 23 points (7-7 FG, 5-5 3pt FG) in his return to San Antonio. Additionally for the Wizards, Isaiah Thomas made his season debut and totaled 16 points. With the win, the Spurs improve to 2-0, while the Wizards fall to 1-2 on the season.
