I was born in San Bernardino at Norton Air Force Base. I bought a home in a nice area of SB in 2001. Lost that home in the 2003 wildfires. After we rebuilt, we had a beautiful home with an in-ground pool on a large lot. And at the top of the housing bubble we sold it and bought a home in San Diego. We’ve never looked back. This makes me sad though. Those people are stuck there with no way out. Nobody should have to live that way.
I grew up in San Bernardino California off of Arden. I went to San gorgonio high School and Serrano middle School. In the 60s we would run through the Orange groves they were everywhere. Streets were lined with eucalyptus trees and you could see all the rows of orange trees up on the foothills. Highland was gorgeous in the day a lot of land. A lot of pretty sand and River beds. In 1965 we had to always pick my mom up from work at Norton air Force Base. In the 60s living in San Bernardino was a dream. We hiked in the foothills to get pollywogs. After heavy rains we would take our rafts and go for miles with the runoff in the streets. We would walk around at night late and we had really hot summers and Santa Ana winds. We slow look forward to the orange show opening up with all the exhibits. I grew up going to Taco Tia and bakers. Rosa Maria's was our popular burrito place they used to have contest. A pizza place in Redlands called gay 90 named a pizza called the Rita special after my mom. I worked at Harris company a store that was like the true Neiman Marcus it was one of a kind. All the Foothills had huge nightclubs the Elks and The Castaways.. everyone had vw's or VW vans. People would ride motorcycles in the desert. All summer you'd spend the time at the ocean at the beach Newport or Laguna Beach. It only took 20 minutes to get way up high in the mountains to running springs where my uncle lived. Big Bear and lake Arrowhead was up there too. I go back every year. It's 98% different there's gang bangers homeless but mental illness and it's like no one cares. Trash everywhere. but they made a large mistake when they started cementing everything they didn't spend time on designs. Mowing down palm trees.. and it's not just gangs and being so close to Mexico but there was lots of white meth trash.
SanBerdo fell apart when Norton AFB and Kaiser Steel shut down. I would drive to SB from Pasadena along the San Bernardino FWY and see those abandoned Kaiser blast furnaces rising up in the air. Norton AFB would be where I would play tennis. Then rail traffic fell and that was it, San Berdo has the largest rail yards in America. When they lost business, most of the tax revenue disappeared. They wanted to turn downtown into a lake because of the shallow water table causing serious structural issues. Maybe it's time to re-consider that idea.....
Did you know that they are planning on building FEMA camps out there? That's says a lot about what they are really thinking about doing to the people out there.
That's what the old timers know. I lived there 1999-2004. I heard it was glorious back in the day. I have an Uncle that was in the Marines for 25 years or so. I'm 43 now, but I remember as an early teen we took him there (Norton) once to fly back to his base. 🙃👍
I grew up here from '79-94 and this place used to be so beautiful and friendly, businesses every where, packed shopping malls, a minor league baseball park. But once Regan closed March AFB, this place quickly went down the gutter. I really want to go back to see my old locations, but i know most are probably either closed or demolished at this point. That was a really fun childhood.
On me bruh like Sam Bernardino is beautiful but he focuses on baseline and shit like yea it might be ghetto name a city that doesn’t have anything ghetto in it I’ll wait
I moved to this area of San Bernardino not too long ago and in all honesty, SB isn't as bad as you have it portrayed it to be in this video. This kind of footage can turn anyone away from even wanting to visit SB.
My Mom is from San Bernardino California she knows ALL about what goes on! As for my Dad he's from Indiana! I'm a boy! I'm a miniature version of my dad! I may be born in SB but I literally have no idea what's it like in San Bernardino except that it's near a desert! 😄
My son grew up in the roughest areas of San Bernardino( Sterling Ave, Arden St., Del Rosa Ave. and Baseline St.) I used to ask the gang bangers who would serve outside his bedroom window to move around so my son could study in peace and they did so. My son was accepted to UC Irvine, Loyola Marymount and NYU. Dreams come true even in San Bernardino.
Congratulations. Good job. Del Rosa area. Yikes! Still rough looking. Sterling...always heard about shootings mentioned with that name. Or Pumalo. 9th/Sierra Way.
@@SoCalburroThank you. I think requiring that he read to me every day when he was younger, helped him a lot, in terms of pronunciation, communication, and widening his vocabulary. He excelled from there. Anyway, thanks.
What a sad yet....as I call a ugly-beautiful depiction of San Bernardino I lived in this city for over 10 yrs 1998-2015 I seen slices of evilness to pure joy in the children's faces riding bikes up and down Wabash street....thanks this made me smile I've seen golden times of Bernardino :)
Nice. I did too 1999-2004. Love the history and old building. Highland Ave. strip West of Waterman is just amazing. Too bad there is so many problems there.
Wow....somebody was bored when they made this video. you focused on the hood. No matter where you live there will always be a hood. All of San Bernardino is NOT like what you depicted in this sorry video.
I understand it may be getting worst. You only focused on hood though. There was no contrast between the good and bad. Made it look all bad. Also didn't understand why you filmed certain individuals that looked rough. That does NOT represent all of San Bernadino...you filmed the girl with the tight bright orange pants on...what were you trying to prove? Very one sided view is all I'm pointing out.
I live in the North side of San Bernardino and it actually looks good. Also most Cities have a bad or ghetto sides even Rancho Cucamonga. I'm not sure what the videos motivation was though.
Hi Josue, I like your video of sb city of broken dreams That's the sad reality of the city of San Bernardino I hope city officials pay attention to this problem. Please keep posting more issues related to San Bernardino Thank you Please keep po
I used to work for a cable contractor for Charter Spectrum. I been to some parts of San bern but I haven't seen the heart of San bern city. but many of the surrounding areas aren't that nice. I got love for IE anyways
You guys do realize the title says city of broken dreams😒 maybe that's why he showed the bad side. San Bernardino may have nice areas but the bad overshadow them.
it's a rough physical environment too...hot as hot, dry...and a lot of people get stuck out there. baseline and G street....down to arrowhead...or even to the 215...
Hi Josue, I'm interested in getting a quote from you to be able to use this footage for a project I'm working on? Let me know if this is possible as soon as possible. Thank you!
But I do believe that it can be flipped by certain areas one at a time there's still some gorgeous plants and there's hope for some type of businesses to come in.
Ahahhah San MURDAdino. 1999-2004. Ahhhh the memories. Took buses through there this last year multiple times. This was a great vid. I love how S.B. has so many older buildings hearkening back to another time. Lol prostitution zone (we know where), Waterman/9th? With the Chinese Food place, Highland Ave? What about the Party Doll? Lol Always wanted to go there.
Is it really this bad? I genuinely don't see how San Bernardino is worse than LA. All of the US is like this, I'm from the South & it's the same, just cuter cause it's got that whole country fried thing lol LA is full of assholes, drugs, & things are getting violent there, & you pay a gazillion dollars to deal with all that. Even San Diego & San Francisco are pretty much overpriced open sewers full of homeless people. As long as I can work, smoke weed, & be left alone I really don't care how ghetto a place is.
Yeah thats san bernardino, BUT THATS THE HOOD PART, there is areas with nice huge houses with a huge golfcourse right by it, and there are neighborgoods with nice pool and huge homes
Here's San Bernardino to the sound of Dissonant Flute. San Bernardino is bad. Our economy sucks, and I would label most of the city as a barrio, but it's really just the 1% of people involved in gangs that ruin it for everyone else. If you keep your nose out of peoples business, you'll survive, if not , you're on your own. With all the gang injunctions and police presence, it's what you dont see thats going on. The Drug Business owns the streets and there's no accountability out here. So just remember that if you seek you will find. If you wanna work at DDs discount or a warehouse, you'll be alright.
I sure hope it improves. It's one of the few places in Cali that's cheap. Such a waste of it's potential. It looks beautiful they just have to clean up. Literally and figuratively.
Allen J not after all the riots and looting that happened recently. That or my other theory is that they burned down the local businesses so that they can rebuild to multi corporate businesses and new housing
This is kinda over dramatic... but San Bernardino is a bad city but they showed the bad parts of the city, some parts of San Bernardino are great and there is a lot of nice an clean houses.
I NEVER BEEN THERE BUT I THINK THIS IS JUST LIKE THE MAJORITY .I LIVED IN CHICAGO HGHTS ILL.I CAN TAKE YOU TP PLACES WHERE YOU NEED A BAZOOKA OTHERS WHERE YOU PARTY IN THE STREETS ANY TIME OF DAY
Why did you make this video? Doesn't San Bernadino get enough shit press in the news? Make that shit look cool, show all the tatted people, the bikes, local bands and artists. Balance out all of the bullshit. I actually don't think it looks so bad...but I am sure there is better to shine a light on.
Does SAN BERNARDINO have a future as a place of prosperous and virtuous habitation, or is It destined to go down under? So I "ASK", at least myself only, unless OTHERS read this! (I, "A.S.K".: I, "Albert Stephen Kundrat", alone of all mortals, chosen to DO THIS? Will GOD answer?
@@DeepVerma728 mostly i can see this city being auctioned off or seeing it revitalized but it's going to have a greater chinese population just like Arcadia, which isn't bad given recent events.
the whole porn shop or night club advretizment i do not understand why you put that as the city of san bernardino representation here. i know that san bernardino has higher than average crime rates compared to the united states. but showing a candle lighting for picture of SCARFACE movie i thought that was ok example to show how ghetto that area is. they have random peeople put posters of fiction character gangsters with horrible columbian accent. the accent was NOT a real spanish sounding one. there are different accents based on ethnic origin or parts of america like the south or northeast and etc. the guy who played scarface in the movie is an italian who i do NOT feel looks latino. to pretend to be a columbian american in miami florida. anyways not that is important.just looks did not match up. also to add here as random fact people that are europeans most often prefer women with medium or dark brown hair like themselves. so women with black hair are desired in most other cultures but depends what part of europe. not that that is important fact. i am confused by some parts of the video here. maybe more prostitues are found to be in low income cities in america so that is why or just to act weird they put it on here for entertainment purposes. i do not support legalization allowance of pictures like that in public. sadly scantily clad woman are tolerated on billboards. i remember seeing a few strip club advertisement on freeway posters that are super tall and high and that is a bad memory of course for me it is so sad people like to hang out with whores. anyways so the whole successful gangster thing obvsiousy does not work out. i could maybe understand why they chose to show the scarface movie title to be representative that all criminal behavior for most often leads is to thier own death.
THat scarface poster was at the memorial site of a innocent driver killed the family placed it there because he was a fan of the movie you bitch abc7.com/news/2-killed-after-high-speed-chase-in-san-bernardino/1266204/
walter white -i dont know if you lying. that movie is not a good representation for anyone. it was entertaining for those that felt that way but that is not proper remembrance of someone. that movie is about a criminal who got killed at an early age as a result of their bad behavior. i guess at the end he tries to do something nice by not attacking innocent people i dont know if you know the story to the film or not but i dont care i am not trying to teach you. i think your joking and let us say if someone died at that spot. their family really is not religious clearly or just dont act like it. anyways a problem with you your so rude. i was just curious or odded out by the situation. anyways that movie is just not a way to represent human life. the story is fake it is not like that was his life. you ar so rude stop commenting to me you disrespectful person. that movie is weird to try to associate that with a representation of a death of someone is off the character in the movie was a bad example so i dont see how what your spitting out makes any sense your so stupid.
Walter White - i dont have death wishes on people unlike you. i was not dishonoring th dead. i am critiquing the family who would do such a weird thing your such an evil person stop contacting me
If Your going to So. CA . etc. Do avoid San Bernadino. it's Just North of Palm Springs, just down the Road from Obamas Pad. You don't want to get get lost here. want
damn i live here and have lived here since 1993,,, its not as bad as you see in this video,. blame should be put on the city,, they gave away the trash, to someone else,, what did they do with all that money, if it wasnt for the fact we have a highway patrol here also we would be in trouble,, ......... city council should be fired for not spending the money wisely,,,
They had the money to fix the infrastructure but they only gave it to the people who are irresponsible and brought the city down with them and started killing the most successful citizens of it. Might as well gives the land back to the indian reservation. The white man certainly fucked up this land.
@@mrbeefhead it's all about gentrification especially those coming from LA. The Inland empire has been negatively affected by that. I wish to see the days that local culture and households see much needed prosperity again. Nobody's perfect as somebody would say and use it as an excuse for everything wrong with them
San Bernardino City is just broken and the only person who has the power to fix it is mayor carey davis ever since I been there i believe he can do it all he needs is a little help 😀😁😊😇👨🔧👩🔧👱♀️🤵
San bernardino said they are going to be looking as great as riverside looks like HAH THAT WONT NEVER HAPPEN EVEN IN A 100 YEARS FROM NOW IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN BECAUSE SAN BERNARDINO IS WHAT IT IS AND WILL ALWAYS BE SAN BERNARGETTO OF A COUNTY OF THEY'RES WILL ALWAYS BE FOREVER
I am offended yet surprised it is the truth... SB may be dangerous... but... you get used to it and it becomes home... there are less homeless people now
Don't try to make light of the situation there. It is that bad and these were some of the less blighted areas. And then there's Muscoy, ah yes. It's been the armpit of Cali for years & years. Ain't nothing new & genuinely feel for anybody who resides there. Their elected officials did a disservice to their city.
