I knew Laos. He became a recovering alcoholic. I have amazing stories about San Blas and the locals from my year I lived there and subsequent return trips.
I spent three to five months a year for eight winters in a row in San Blas, during the late 60's to early 70's. It was a small fishing village back then. I have a lot of fond memories of San Blas. :-)
@@markguit6282 I didn't know him or remember that bar. I don't think Jimmy Siciliano was in San Blas, in the late 60's and early 70's. If you had a photo, then I would know for sure if I had ever met him.
my friend Eli was the head of the fisherman union. trying to figure out how to post some old pictures with people you most likely knew because they were pretty high profile characters!
@@markguit6282 The Jimmy I knew lived in a beach house in San Blas, later moved to Sayulita, and then on to Puerto Vallarta. He was very thin and I think was my age or a little older at the time. If it is the same person, he smoked a lot and sold whatever he was smoking, lol.
the girls would go crazy over Him. he kinda looked like a young Elliott Gould. The local girls were smart and kept their distance. He always pined for one of the beautiful daughters of Rafael Gutiérrez who owned La Familia. I could go to the dances with them because I maintained the code of a Caballero where as Jimmy was a wild man. My first S.B. adventure which lasted a little more than a year...back story, Jimmy was a well known Malibu surfer. I had kicked him out of my place in Venice Beach and a few months later my best friend Alfredo travelled by train to Tepic. I became very ill and Alfredo kept saying I know where Jimmy stays in Mazatlan and I tell him no way, Mex ain't big enough for the 2 of us. I wouldn't last the bus ride from Tepic and paid for a cab to S.B. we pull into town, I asked the driver to drop off at the beach. driver says Senor there are no open hotels there and I said I just want to see the beach before I die! Me and Al are sitting checking the waves and Al says hey that looks like Jimmy getting out of the water. I said no way and Al goes that dog with him looks like Max. I say you can't bring dogs to Mex and Al says it's Jimmy, nobody has a purple board like his! I bury my head but no use Jimmy sees us and says Amigos! I've got so many funny stories about Jimmy. he actually was my best man when I married Vickie down there a few months later!
You forgot Los Pelicanos, or maybe los flamingoes, on the south end of town. What is its history? We were there 1986-87 and loved it. The jungle is taking it over now😰
