What do you think the small arms are for? Why do you think the bigger arms are physically connected to the smaller arms? The smaller arms are actually the person's arms that is inside, and when he moves his arms, the movement is directly transfered to the bigger arms aswell which is why both the small arms and bigger arms make the same movements. You have to be quite stupid not to understand that, and not see the obviousy shape of the human standing inside.

Kagami Gaming True. The bigger arms controlled by the wearer's arms is similar to the way the Landmates from Appleseed operate. This is just the low-tech equivalent. That still doesn't matter as far as I'm concerned, I think it's pretty cool. :)

His head is in the abdomen, his feet are in the robot knees and his hands are in the tiny side arm. The small arms control the big arms since they are connected.

It's a costume. The actor fits inside the lower portion and controls the lower set of arms directly, which act as a joystick to control the upper arms. The voice and additional controls, such as the head, are probably controlled by remote operator. No current self propelled robot of that size can walk on two legs.

Hydraulics, fibers, plastic, light weight metals, computing transfers, cameras, a person inside the suite. It's not complicated, it's a giant costume. Animatronics have existed for a couple of decades now.

First of all, thank you for your service. Secondly, we are really behind in robotics, look the voice comes from someone who controls the robot, or it would be a pre recorded voice, otherwise it will talk like the iPhone. Obviously someone is controlling the robot. Don't get me wrong, we could use them as war machines, but they are not efficient. This technology will only work to assist your fellow soldiers or as droids, like we are using them for now.

Now imagine the military capabilities pretty soon we're going to get into the drone race of who can build the most sophisticated and deadly war machines that aren't even piloted or it could go to mech suits using servo to help move the heavy armor and weapons. Mind still absolutely awesome :D.

It's someone in a costume but there are robotic parts that are making it easier for them to move it around. The smaller arms on the robot are the suit actor's own arms. Think of this as a giant mechanical version of a walk-around muppet like Big Bird.

If you want to know more about the robot, do a RU-vid search for Stan Winston School of Character Arts(mentioned in the video). They're one of the geniuses behind the design and creating of this thing.... plus they have a lot of other behind the scenes footage from big movies they've worked on. A MUST SEE if you're into making awesome suits like the robot.

if you compare the guy besides the robot at 0:57 you will see that this is impossible. Unless the guys inside is standing on something, but then again it be really hard to sustain the top part and the assembly.

It's a dude in a suit. The American military has been working on exoskeletons and bipedal robots for some time already and they've gotten very good at it.

There is a guy inside, that's why it has 4 arms and the 2 under arms are stuck to the two upper arms, so when the guy moves the upper part of the robbot moves... Took me a minute to realize tho

It is a suit. If you look closely, see how the lower arms join in relation to the body of the suit? notice how the upper arms are joined to the lower arms by struts? The lower body matches anatomically to the same dimensions of that of a fit man. There are still no bipedal robots able to walk on there own and only on a treadmill in a lab.

Oh, I'm well aware of the shortcomings of a design like this. It's just a suit, like Iron (Plastic) Man on stilts. The lower arms on the "robot" are real human arms. I guess what I was trying to say is, if these folks could design and make a cheap puppet exoskeleton like this, if a government program decided to make a Iron Man on steroids it'd be kinda scary. You know, slap some more powerful hydraulic controls on it, make a lot of components out of heat resistant polymers, (continued)
