I was an independent contractor and lost my work because of ab5. I also applied for unemployment and nothing 0. I applied for rental assistance and zero. I had some saving and got a part-time job that ends in a month. I couldn't pay a month of rent but I caught up. Still applying for work consistently. I am tired of people telling me apply for this or that, because most likely I have. I want to work and I am tired of this situation.

Governors and Mayors who destroyed businesses and jobs should be sued for financial damages and allowing this to happen to millions of people. Rental assistance that relies on Taxpayer funds are dwindling so it will not last more than the next 6 months. So there will be a need for Governors and Mayors to give up their reckless decision and allow everyone to work and earn an income no matter what.

I'm a small landlord, with 9 rental units in Mississippi. I had 1 tenant use the moratorium to get 4 months of free rent, and that's all I needed to see to know that I have to get out of the business and sell ASAP. So, since that happened in September, I've had 3 of my units come vacant, and I'm selling all of them. The first sale closes in a couple days. I'll be putting all proceeds left from the sales, into gold and silver. And I've been a landlord now for 11 years. But it doesn't make sense to continue in the business if I can't ensure rent will be collected. So I have to leave my livelihood of many years. Just very, very sad. And this is a loss for tenants as well, because it means the rental property that I would have supplied to the market, won't be there. This kind of stuff, where government doesn't uphold private property rights, and allows theft from one group of people by another group (in a very random and chaotic way I might add), this stuff is horrendously destructive to the market and to people. I would encourage all my fellow citizens to take notice of this. This has got to end, and soon.

Sounds like someone gave the elderly woman bad advice when it was time for her to go to a nursing home. Wouldn't it have been better to sell the property and set up a living trust for her? She wouldn't be dealing with this at her most vulnerable time. Tenant working for the court is probably well educated in the laws. She probably knew what was coming, unlike most of us.

Selling the property could result in more losses due to income taxes and capital gains taxes. She's made the best decision to rent her home so she can use the income to help pay for her nursing home expenses.
