Mission Beach is an interesting part of San Diego because 90% of the properties are vacation rentals. There's a lot more trash generated here than most places, especially in the summertime when tourists (mostly from Arizona) flock to this little strip of land on the coast.
The City sends out 5-6 rear loaders to do trash and recycle here every Tuesday, some are 25 yards, some are 18 like this one.
You might notice that they leave the lids on every can. That's because every summer there is a fly infestation on this route that causes some public outcry and the occasional local news story. In previous summers the City responded by collecting this route twice a week (sending crews out on Saturdays) but this year they were unable to because of budget constraints from the pandemic.
