Hey man, because of you talking about this in relation to Mac's I bought one and it arrived today...Seriously, thank you so much! this is exactly what I've been after for SO LONG. Just booted Logic Pro with a bunch of intensive Native Instrument VST's all running libraries off the SSD, and flawless performance. Really appreciate your insight.

Glad I caught your insight prior to purchasing a Samsung T9 or Lacie Rugged. The Sandisk has better speeds, protection and warranty. Many props!

Because of your reviews is why I bought the San Disk eco system! For my Macbook pro 16 in M2 and M2 Mac Studio. Nice work!

I got the 4TB. for my Studio Max M2 to hold all my data and have an equally positive experience. With 1TB of 20MB photos I have no lag ever either on the Photos app or Pixelmator Pro. I did immediately upgrade the cord as some have suggested the OEM short one has caused some issues.

Did you have trouble with heating? I'm using Premiere and editing directly from the Sandisk SSD, it's sooo fast. But i can notice some warming. And another Question. It's good if i place everything from Premiere to the SSD (Projects, Cache, Media Content) and edit directly? OR Keep the project on the MAC and just import Media Files from the External Drive?

Thanks for the videos. You sound like you know what you're talking about. Im considering buying one of the 2TB models. Ive noticed in other videos when people connect these to a windows pc it shows the type of drive being used. Ive seen the WD SN750 and the SN850 both in the 2TB model. Any idea what's going on there and how to tell the difference? There are open box units available from authorized resellers but it would be nice to know which drive is in them.

I just got one of these today and it works randomly. It does not mount consistently. I got the 4TB SSD and it has probably connected 7 out of 20 times trying to get it to mount.

I bought this recently but returned it because it doesn’t work on iPhone 15 Pro. I wanted a drive that workd with Mac iPad and iPhone. I will get the Crucial X9 Pro or Samsung T9.
@adamtalkstech
@adamtalkstech 4 месяца назад
Yeah I get that "Thunderbolt Accessories are not supported on this iPhone" error message too. IT's supposed to be backwards compatible with USB 3.2 so I"m not sure why that won't work when I tried using a USB 3.2 cable with the iPhone... Sorry I had never even thought to try it on the iPhone 15 pro.

I do like your FCPX strategy. I have one and am considering getting another, Amazon price is under $400. However, I am finding mine is hot after transferring two 1.5 TB FCPX Libraries. I have 3 other SanDisk Extreme Pro SSDs and the performance is not close. Any thoughts on the heat? If I am just using FCPX from the drive do you think It will not get so hot? Is the heat due to the massive copying? Good news, after disconnecting the drive it cooled down quickly.

Question, some say in reviews, the following: they said they had a problem with it timing out and disconnecting. Also, that it overheats. I'm going to be using it for Serato DJ software, so continued dependability and connection are vital for hours at a time. Thoughts?

I haven’t had that issue but I am seeing others say they have. I need to buy another at some point and see if I have any issues long term.

I’d like to get one of these for my MacBook M2. Can you please tell me if SanDisk includes the appropriate cable in the box to connect the MacBook Pro M2 to this SanDisk drive?
@adamtalkstech

Yes includes short thunderbolt 3 cable.

@@adamtalkstech Thank you Adam for the quick reply. All evening I’ve been reading reviews of this hard drive and trying to find its competitors (there are not many at the consumer level). This SanDisk has too many ghastly reviews to the point I’m quite nervous making purchase. It sounds by your review you have had a good piece and served you well under fairly heavy usage. But I’m surprised so many user report negatively on this model. So I’m now looking closer at OWC Envoy Pro, which seems to have a far better review populous. But it’s unfortunately a fair bit more expensive. Trying to make a good choice here as it’s a sizeable buck for memory. And want to lower my risk of losing a big job as I do intend to use it as you d scribed you use your’s. Anyways I hope you tell me if the SanDisk has given you any problems.

I have a M3 macbook pro that has thunderbolt 4. Would you expect any better performance with thunderbolt 4 vs the thunderbolt 3? This is the type of review I have been looking for.
@adamtalkstech
@adamtalkstech Месяц назад
No they have identical speeds. The main difference is just the way that thunderbolt 4 handles daisy chaining

MAKE SURE the drive is the first thing that is plugged into any of the thunderbolt ports on your computer to achieve the MAXIMUM SPEED from the drive. If it's plugged in after something else such as a studio display or another drive it will default to USB 3.1 or 3.2 speeds. Im not entirely sure but I believe this is because the Mac OS allocates the bus power over thunderbolt to the first device plugged in and any subsequent device defaults to a slower speed. This isn't a flaw of this drive, I believe it's a Mac OS issue. Unfortunately this means any secondary drive that's plugged in isn't going to get its maximum speed when transferring to or from that drive. Maybe its fixed in the new OS, I'm running 13.5.2 and getting 2800 R/W speeds on this drive.

What formatting option do you use for these? Do you see a lot of difference formatting in that format than other formats?
@adamtalkstech
@adamtalkstech 5 месяцев назад
I think I just left it in the stock apfs. I haven’t personally seen much difference between exfat or apfs but some people say apfs is way better. I don’t encrypt this drive because that slows it down a little.

M1 Max here and maintains it, will be curious what people with the M3s say.

Has anyone had problems with this drive freezing up a computer? I’ve had the 2TB version for 2 weeks and am having issues. I have a MacBook Pro M1 16gb of ram. While editing in photoshop after just a little work on a photo, the Adjustment sliders stop responding, I’m unable to save,or eject and sometimes the whole computer freezes needing a hard power down. If this drive isn’t plugged in every thing works normally. Suggestions?
