I hope the skeptics from a year ago have found their way back to San Fermin and listened to new album Belong... Charlene now fits in perfectly and maybe a better fit for bands new direction and of course with Ellis at the helm.., Sonsick will always be Rae's song though so hopefully she also creates new music so we can enjoy both San Fermin and Rae Cassidy!!!
This sounds very unfortunately flat and clattering compared to the album version. The brass that was once punchy and vibrant sounds muddy. The vocals seem stiff, strained, rather than effortless and free. There appears to be some lack of harmony, as though everyone was dragging through tar to get this recorded. For all the absolute fist-pumping, adrenaline-packed energy of the album version, I feel like this is way toned down, which is typically opposite with a live performance. I hope to see everyone really sync up and harmonize happily if I ever get to watch you all perform. After all, Jackrabbit's my favorite song at the moment. :)
You know I had the exact same thought. I just watched the official video and decided to check out a live version. I'm not a music theory person, but there were probably 3 or 4 times during the song where it feels like a whole beat is missing. I feel like the sound mixing was a little off, the lyrics needed to be brought in front of the music, there is so many times she gets lost in the sound, but she is clear as day the whole time in the studio version. Now please know this isn't intended to be a critique, more of just feeling a little disappointed, I know it isn't easy getting a live shows audio recorded cleanly. I am 100 percent off to watch more of their live performances.
