Recently attended the San Francisco Card Show with my Dad and had a GREAT TIME! The show was absolutely packed and overflowing with dealers and collectors. There was mostly modern baseball, basketball, football, soccer, and formula 1 cards, but there were a few vintage dealers as well. I had several pickups at the show including some vintage Basketball and Football cards that were PSA graded and raw. I also got some garbage pail kid packs, which I was super excited to snag. Bay Area card shows aren't as common as they used to be, so when there's a big one, I'm happy to make the drive from the Sacramento Area. Check out my Vlog from the show and let me know how you think I did.

Great meeting you Greg and I appreciate you stopping by the booth! I also went to the Moscone shows in grade school & Jr. High. Too bad I didn't get to meet your pops! See you at the next one and take care. - Ram @NorCalHobbyShop

Liked the video of the show It is nice to see people actually talk to dealers rather than throwing money back and forth

Appreciate the kind comments. Some of these dealers are great guys and are in the hobby to get to know others with similar interests. Making new friends and negotiating and hanging out is part of the fun, and something Ebay can't provide!!

Cool cards for sure, prices very high, great way to check comps (graded) is through the app Alt, good resource for negotiations, especially with first guy

I remember going to the Moscone Center shows when I was a kid. Got to see and meet a lot of hall of fame athletes (Ernie Banks, Lou Brock, Muhammad Ali). It was really great experience to say the least.

I totally agree. That was the best weekend of the year for me as a kid. I got to meet Roger Clemens, who was my favorite player as a kid. I remember it like it was yesterday. I have pictures of me meeting him in the video I posted a couple weeks ago of my top 10 best baseball autographs. Those were great times. I appreciate you watching and leaving a comment. :-)

Really liked your transition in the middle going over the first lot you bought. Disappointed to find out you're a Steve Young/49ers fan...don't know if I can keep my subscription to your channel j/k

Appreciate you watching and the kind comments. Growing up in Northern California as a 49er fan, I had to root for Steve Young. But, Joe Montana will always be the #1 guy.

Love the Steve Young USFL card! Any idea what you think it would grade?
@MidLifeCards
@MidLifeCards Год назад
Hard to say. I'll probably just leave it raw. It has one corner with a little issue, so my guess is it would get an 8 or so.

Im planning on going to the next show, do you think its worth a 4 hour drive?
@MidLifeCards
@MidLifeCards Год назад
Depends on what you collect. I'd say the breakdown at that show is 10% vintage, 70% modern, 20% Pokemon. If you're a vintage collector, I probably wouldn't make a 4 hour drive. If you're modern or Pokemon, I would. I hope that helps.

Great video. Saw your video listed in the browse suggestions. I am a vintage collector myself and run videos of shows on my channel. What were you using for a camera to allow you to look through cards? Was it a Go-Pro attached to you? Nevertheless, really enjoyed the negotiating on the trade. Solid skills sir!

Hey there Sammy Thunder!! I've been a subscriber of yours for a while. I enjoy your content and appreciate the positive feedback. I bought a chest mount that my phone attaches to. So, it's strapped to my chest and I record on there. That frees up my hands. They sell them on Amazon for like $15-20. It works great. If you can't find them on there let me know and I can lookup the actual item number in my purchase history. I got the idea from @breakoutcards as he uses something similar but mounts a gopro. I mount my phone, because it makes uploads easier for editing. Give me a follow. I appreciate you reaching out. Keep up your quality stuff!!

I looked up the chest mount harness for you. It’s called a Pellking Chest Mount Harness and is Amazon item B08RN6GRQ3. It has a go pro Mount and a cell phone Mount. All for under $20. I like it and it has good ratings. I hope this helps. Thanks again for checking out my channel.

When a dealer says "make me an offer" I'm going to offer $1. Why would you bring a card to a show if you don't know what you want for it?
@MidLifeCards
@MidLifeCards Год назад
Yeah. I hear you. That's the reason I started so low on the Steve Young card. I think most of us collectors prefer cards with visible prices from the start. Appreciate the comments and feedback. :-)

@@MidLifeCards You played that one right. At least when there are prices on the card you know whether the dealer is out of their mind or not.

$60 for a raw 1982Donruss Ripken? $150 for a raw 1971 Mays? GTFOH. Those are museum prices because no one with access to the internet are buying those.

Wouldn’t you want to avoid cards of players like OJ Simpson that has a checkered past?
@MidLifeCards
@MidLifeCards Год назад
I think that's a fair question. Personally, I try to draw a line between things that happened off the field and what happened on. I think a lot of professional athletes probably have some things in their past that are far from ideal. I know Ray Lewis has had accusations. Ty Cobb has had accusations. I tend to just collect cards of players that were really good players, and focus on the on field accomplishments...but I totally understand why others would want to stay clear of players that have sketchy pasts. From an "investment" point of view, I think staying away from players with off the field issues is a smart move. But I mostly just collect stuff.

@@MidLifeCards I’m right there with you. Here in Cincinnati, Pete Rose can do no wrong. It’s been a sports talk show topic beaten to death for my whole life of if he should be in the HOF and allowed to do baseball events. It’s been my joke for years that it’s actually rarer to find something Pete didn’t sign than is. He’ll sign your right arm for $50. I guess for me personally, morality wise I can’t collect stuff from someone who is guilty in public opinion of something like murder (OJ or Cobb) and actually convicted of major crimes (Michael Vick). I totally understand your views and don’t pass judgement on them at all. I also want to personally thank you for corresponding with me so much these past few days. I think it’s really cool. Keep up the good work.

@@MidLifeCards oh yeah, that’s cool. I’m a UK fan that grew up from 8th grade on in Cincinnati. My whole family is from Cincinnati, so when my dad retired from the Army in 1994 we moved here permanently. My dad actually had to watch the 1990 WS in Desert Storm in Iraq. It wasn’t until he retired that I got to watch Reds/Bengals games live at RiverFront Stadium and now their current stadiums. Now me and my dad try to catch the Reds at a different ballpark around the country. It’s a great bonding experience to see famous stadiums that we never got to see because we were constantly moving.
