It was a beautiful warm winter day in San Francisco. Join me in my walk through San Francisco's Union Square neighborhood, the greater downtown and financial district.
San Francisco native here as you can see the majority of the city is still very beautiful just when you visit talk with the locals and they'll tell you which areas to stay clear of. Just don't leave any valuables in plain sight in your car and you should be fine. Enjoy your time here it's a terrific City

I see I made a comment a year ago! Lol... We were there last year and we were in San Francisco just a month ago. The weather is so much cooler than where we live in the Central Valley. It was sad to see so many places closed for good that we use to shop at, but we still had a fun time and ate some delicious food and we just always find new places to see every time we’re there. Not a lot of people walking around Union Square but it was during the week but there were so many people at Pier 39, too crowded but we ate at our favorite seafood restaurant. I never get tired of San Francisco. 💖😁
I am originally from The City. It can indeed be absolutely magical to simply walk through the different neighborhoods. Or people watch in one of the parks. And it is fine to show off the nice areas. In fact we could use a respite from the concern trolling. If you are looking for signs of poverty - homeless encampments, chop shops, crackhouses, establishments of ill repute - there is little doubt you will find them. But San Francisco is much more than that.
Love San Francisco! We’ll be there next week. We go twice a year for over twenty years, of course except for last year… it’s like we always find something new to see or a restaurant we haven’t tried yet. I take so many pictures of SF, One of our favorite restaurants is the Tadich Grill, I hope it’s open up now. My hubby hurt his lower back so we’ll see how he feels before next week, he can stay in the hotel and I’ll go shopping! Lol 😉.. we also drive to the cities outside of San Francisco like Burlingame and Palo Alto. I have family in San Jose, we might stop by for a visit too. 😁
With this pandemic going anywhere is not a pleaseant experience. I wish i could go myself been there a couple of times it is a great city with a lot of history. Hope you are able ro enjoy yourself.
@@SDsailor7 We had a great time and even the weather was cooler than where I live, San Francisco is usually busy during the Summer months but it wasn’t as many people walking around, not even traffic. We still went sightseeing, ate some really good food and everyone we met in their shops or the hotel we stayed at and the restaurants, everyone was so friendly and I think they were just happy to see any tourists! Lol A lot businesses closed early so it was weird driving around after 9 p.m., seeing places closed. Despite what is said on the news or social media being negative, it’s like bad rumors, just go when you can and see as much as you can and go to local restaurants, they have the best food. We might go back during Christmas time. 😁
@@JMarieCAlove I am glad that you had a good experience. It is cooler in San Fran in the summer. Have you heard the saying that says " the coldest winter i spent was summer in san francisco" Once the sun goes down it gets cold specially close to the water. If i get the chance i will take the trip, last time i went i was not able to go to amoeba it is a record store so that is on my agenda when i go. And yes there are not many tourists due to the covid. Everything changes often not for the better. I already read and heard there are a lot of homeless people and it is dirty. That makes me sad. I am from Germany and we have similar problems. San Francisco has good and bad parts. The streets in this video are so clean and beautiful. I can't say I have seen anything that clean in Germany. Here we have good and bad parts but even the good parts of town have alot of graffiti and stickers. The country is still different in east and west after all these years. People get twice as much money for the same work in the western part of the country wich made alot of people move away from the eastern part. Homeless problem is not that big and the crime is different. No shootings like in the USA but sadly alot of stabbing and beating.
San Francisco is famous for its Golden Gate Bridge, steep streets, Alcatraz, and - you got it, dude! ... During the Great Depression, not a single bank in San Francisco failed. In fact, business was so good that the city constructed the Golden Gate Bridge and the Oakland Bay Bridge during the Depression.
That's very interesting information. You can definitely tell that the city was booming during the beginning of the 20th century, because there are so many beautiful buildings from that period. That was my favorite part of the trip - the amazing architecture, especially the older one.
San Francisco is a very beautiful city, but concentrating on the downtown and financial district does not provide a good balanced sample of life in San Francisco’s many neighborhoods. Of course, the homeless problems are more noticeable downtown, as in most cities. For anyone visiting San Francisco and the Bay Area, be sure to drive around, or take buses (Muni) or Bart. You will leave your vacation with a more balanced perspective. I lived there 25 years, so i saw a lot.
I’m not a fan of San Francisco but have to admit it does have a beautiful bridge, a leaning tower, and when you least expect it some real rock and roll.

Thank you very much! The camera is amazing, but my skills desire to be better. I was using Ronin SC gimbal. The camera is a little heavy for it, and with some moves the motors start vibrating. IBIS and lens IS were on, but no electronic stabilization. I'm uploading some more 4k HQ ALL-I sample footage from Canon EOS R5 right now. It should be available to view in about an hour.

It is one of the most beautiful major cities in the country physically but the dirty streets and the big increase in crime and all the homeless population is another story. I have lived in the Bay Area all my life and I know.
You guys have beautiful houses and hills. You just take it for granted because you live there. For example, NYC is far more grimey and gritty than SF. (Architecture and building design wise)
I agree. I'm also a RARE peninsula native. The whole Bay Area was the best kept secret unitl greed and money moved in and took over 30 years ago. Gentrification turned the whole area to sh*t. If you cherry pick what you want to see and ignore the 90% rest of the city, you can make videos like this still today. Many of the "homeless" had homes here until they were forced out. Most of the workforce no longer made living wages. The big tech companies in the 90's imported talent from all over the world having them move to a place that already had a 97.7% occupancy rate. The homelessness is the byproduct of greed.
You basically are pointing out the obvious that most if not all major US cities face...nonetheless SF is definitely one of the prettiest cities in the US if not the world.
@@JRcomments As a San Francisco native still living in the city I agree 100% with you. What is the BS now with fire lanes, taxi lanes, round about, speed bumps and quiet streets?!? The city has become VERY driver unfriendly.
Did you know that a part of Alameda County reaches out in the bay across the San Francisco county line so there is a part of SF county that is a part of Alameda county. They should build a bridge that traverses from Alameda county to Marin county to cut traffic, (so that traffic does no have to go from alameda to SF to marin) . Did you know you can see the top of the pyramid from 98th ave and Edes ave in Oakland.
I filmed it with Canon EOS R5. The first 50 minutes were filmed in 4K HQ ALL-I mode at 24p and the file sizes were roughly 160GB. The remaining 2 and a half hours were filmed in 4K HQ IPB mode and the file sizes were 131GB. I didn't experience any overheating even though I was filming continuously for over 3 hours.

I think what you are referring to is called "judder". It occurs when you do a fast pan in video, especially if the background is busy with multiple objects.
I was surprised by how few people there were in the streets as well. It was Wednesday, December 16th 2020. I spent 4 days in San Francisco on that trip and I haven't seen many people in the streets during my stay.
No, I was recording in camera, but I used 4K HQ ALL-I for the fist hour and then 4K HQ IPB for the rest of the recording. The temperature outside was around 65-70F. And yes, I recorded continuously for 3.5 hours with small stops because R5 has 29.59 minutes recording limit.

Though the ambient temperature was a lit bit low (18-21 Celsius), still, you had to have overheating issues with the camera (considering all the articles I've read and all the RU-vid videos I've seen)!! Didn't you have no problems with overheating at all??...
@@antmarobel2592 Not that particular time. I have had overheating issues filming 4K HQ ALL-I and 4K 60p IPB as well as 8K IPB here in Florida though. So the camera definitely does overheat, but that particular time it did not, I think mainly due to me filming 4K HQ IPB and the low ambient temperature.

I spent my childhood in the Tenderloin, and the city looks like a GHOST TOWN compared to how it used to be. I moved back to the Bay Area in 2015 and I could immediately tell how different it had become. I had to kill myself to make rent in the suburbs and S.F. had a different vibe to it . I moved again to Tulsa where I currently am, and I'm never going back lol. Pretty soon it's going to be elite and the destitute without anything in-between. Sad AF
@@SDsailor7 @Rob Hernandez I checked my original video files and it was filmed on Wednesday, December 16th 2020 from around 1pm till 5pm. I was in San Francisco for 4 days from December 13th to December 17th. And it was like that during my whole time there. Not many crowds in the streets. I was told by some locals that it was due to the pandemic.
@@floridaliving9329 Yes you are right. Not many people liked to go out during the pandemic myself included plus its so cold over there so yeah that makes sense. I have been there a couple of times in the sumertime and even then its cold that wind of the bay will go thru your bones!
Yes it's very very sad. San Francisco tenderloin is a lot cleaner than Philadelphia Kensington or LA skid row.street cleaners observed.But honey you need to look at some videos from Kensington in Philadelphia and of course skid-row in LA this video. Tenderloin looks like piece of cake compared to those places but it is all sad
Despite all its problems - and I agree there are many - SFO remains my favorite city in the world and I have been to many great cities - London, Paris, Nice, Buenos Aires, Athens, Rome, Venice, Hong Kong, Stockholm, Milan, Prague, Mexico City, Toronto, Montreal to name a few. All those cities combined can but equal San Francisco. It is a living American treasure.
I get that San Fran has it's issues but im trying to figure out why a lot of you think that someone on VACATION should hit up a homeless area for perspective. Dont know anything about the OP but im sure Florida has more than enough sh!tholes if thats what they want to see

I lived in sf for 49 years i left because I had to,what people say it's true how bad it is,it's a shame being so rich how can it be so it be like this,but I miss my city my friends,Giants!!
The most beautiful city in America? Have you not heard of Chicago, the oasis in the middle of "fly over country"? Chicago is the only other real metropolis in America other than NYC but it is clean, has amazing beaches in the midst of skyscrapers, and is the most beautiful city in America. San Francisco or NYC are second or third most beautiful.
I don't disagree with you. I visited Chicago in July and was blown away by the beauty and liveliness of the city. It does have a scale of a real metropolis, but at the same time it is extremely clean and has a sense of community. The architecture of the city is absolutely amazing and Chicago river and lake Michigan with their brilliant emerald color are gorgeous. I only stayed there for 4 days, and I only explored the downtown area, but what I saw really impressed me. I haven't been to very many American cities, but I've visited New York, Philadelphia, Chicago, Orlando, Tampa, San Diego, San Francisco, Denver, New Orleans, Charleston, Las Vegas, Seattle, Minneapolis and a handful of smaller towns, and so far Chicago, Seattle, New York and San Francisco are my favorites.

He showed just the financial district of SF which is very beautiful. Chicago is a flat city like the rest of US cities. San Francisco is unique and is a hilly city with amazing views from every street. It has the crookedest street and the most photographed bridge in the world. Chicago is a second rate city compared to San Francisco.
@@mikesadeghi5819 Chicago is ranked the most beautiful city in the world by Conde Naste and is considered America's greatest and cleanest big city with the nicest skyline. NYC and CHI are the only real cities in America with the most developed 24/7 transport like in Europe and with the most skyscrapers by far and most impressive architecture in the US. The rest if US cities are giant spread out suburbs with ugly strip malls and no public transport. Boston and San Francisco are small resorts that come close to NYC and CHI on a much smaller scale. San Francisco currently is disgusting full of homeless and mentally ill junkies everywhere! 😱 It's even worse than LA somehow. The skyscraper was invented in Chicago by the way and the whole world copies that so Chicago will always go down in history as a great city
