Check out the San Him Jervis Pro Roof Top Tent review here: • The San Hima Jervis Pr...
In this episode we test out the new VicOffroad San Hima range of freestanding awnings. They offer their 270 degree in two sizes, as well as a 180 degree option. These are great for shade and weather and compliment the Roof Top Tent on our current Next Gen Ranger build.
Personally I would recommend the standard 270 degree on a dual cab ute, however if you can support the front hinged portion of the larger one, it provides a lot more roof covering 11 square metres. Our plan is to use the L version on our future camper trailer project which will be fantastic.
Just remember to locate brackets as close to the hinge points of the awning as possible. This will make sure they are sturdy and stable when used as a freestanding awning. With the 180 and longer 270 degree I would highly recommend you mount to a full length roof platform or even the side of a hard shell roof top tent.
These awnings employ the simple beam arrangement, making them an economical option starting at $699 which is great when you consider they offer an integrated light, weather resistant 600D double-ripstop Oxford with waterproof tapes, drop down legs and all the ropes and pegs you need to tie them down. They can also be optioned with walls if required.
Best of all they take seconds to setup and pack down which really helps when you are out on a Sunday Drive or travelling between destinations.
You can check out the full awning range on the VicOffoad web site here:

Hey mate, another great video. Can I ask what brackets you used to mount the awning on the tub rack far enough out to avoid the RTT when opening?

Hey mate i like your videos/reviews. It's very helpful. I'd like to do this set up but I have a question, what's the total height of yout roof top tent from the floor? Hope it fits on my garage. Cheers

I wish they made something longer that could work as a awning on the Jayco Swan.
