I used to hang out at the San Leandro Marina a lot, catching mudsuckers underneath the Blue Dolphin restaurant in the daytime, and then use them at night in the Alameda/Oakland estuary for big stripers. I also used to catch seagulls on the lawns near the picnic tables, with my Goshawk. Things I used to do in the seventies. 😎👍
Great fishing! Used to fish this area back in the 60's and 70's, never any stripers (big leopards and rays) - looks like things have changed. Water clarity is much improved. Seemed like you caught a big school or two. Used to get my bass in San Leandro bay at the mouth of San Leandro Creek - some really big one's used to move through there.
@@cacacaca183 Way back in the 60's and 70's. Wasn't a park back then (no bridge) and we would fish in the middle of the night. Saw a few 40 pounders out of there. I lost one once plugging that felt like I hooked onto a boat. It broke water and snapped my line. Still remember the sound the splash made. Good times. Live in Illinois these days.
Dang is stiper fishing, just finding the school? Or can I go to this spot and factcheck striper. Also what swim baits are you using, and what size is your kastmaster
This was in September 2022. But yes in the bay spring and fall are really good for striper. They are roaming around right now. Dies down after November.
stripers still in the bay? I quit fishing the red tide too, Vallejo / Benicia area. water looks better now. the fish roll through here fast on the way to the delta. I hope I haven't missed them.
I've always wanted to try lure fishing in salt water but never knew the setup. Do you use a medium weight rod with like 15lb test and a spoon? What weight spoon?
✊🏾💯 Great video!!! Question, are you running straight braid? Or do you use a leader line? Also, I'm trying to learn the Kastmaster, do you use a swivel to a split ring to avoid line twists? Thanks, subscribed.
When the red tide was in the bay area the last three weeks I stopped fishing for bass,I saw over 50 dead bass in the bay,I don't eat them but next week will be fishing for them again
I use bait sometimes. Here I use kastmaster swimbaits and jerkbait. The striper will bite them all. Kastmaster for distance if the fish are out far and cover more water, swimbaits seem to usually always work and the jerkbaits are fun and sometimes I feel like the get bigger fish.
