My favorite artist ..I was walking around in newyork one night passing a club and I heard him singing I thought to my self oh my god its him and I have to get in and I just happened to have money on me so I happened to run into a scalper I bought the ticket for 35 dollars I said to myself god please let this ticket be genuine I made it inside and there he was singing "whos loving you" it was on of the greatest night of my life what a performer I think to this day it was divine that I got to see him

***** you know that was the first time i ever walked in that part of Manhattan i was curious about the area so i kept walking then i started seeing posters of him then the music....oblong every single song was au some
uncle ankie Oh god. your soo lucky. what a magical New York moment you had. it was ment to be. he is a genius. ge is spiritually beautiful and generous with his advice. I hope to have a moment like that too. .... I bet it was just amazing ... have a great day.
A beautiful man with a sensitive heart, which seeps into his velvet soothing voice, .not only a wonderful musician, but humble and family orientated. A real role model to the young people and someone to aspire to in this broken society
One of the few people to take back his life from the fame machine, and all power to him for doing so. He lives the life he chooses, not one that's dictated to him.
He was like a breath of fresh air back in the day and it's so true he is under-rated as a musician you still got it my dear what beautiful words you speak ❤
So glad I found his music, I was 16 years old and pregnant with my son when I first heard him in 1987 on TV I immediately knew he was a superstar I listened to him over and over, I'm so glad he transformed into the spiritual teacher he is today, he wouldnt be who he is today if he had stayed in the corrupted music industry. I'm most grateful the Divine had a higher calling for him. I've listened to most of his interviews over the pass few days now, and I'm convinced we need his hear his music more than ever now. I was asking God is there any artist that remained opened and transparent an ultimate Master Artist? That day I stumbled upon an old Appollo Theatre on TV of him preforming back in the day. Again, I stood there in awe just like the first time I heard him all over again. Thank God and thank him for the Save me song it spoke to me.
This is what a musical genius looks like. Thank goodness he never let the big musical corporations corrupt his genius. Guy could write his own music and had the vocal versatility of 4 different singers. Amazing artist whose talent was too huge for the mainstream music industry to contain.
I was just searching the web floating down memory lane. It started with Kate Bush, then moved to Tom Jones, then I moved on to Prince. Then I thought, what ever happen to Terrence Trent D'arby? I found the music videos but wait... who is Sananda Maitreya? I am just so late I know. But hey great to see you still doing your thing.
The same exact story I have. I thought, “whatever happened to TTD.” Then, bomb!! I am a reborn fan again. He was and always will be one of my favorite artists. America misses him. A lot of us do. Love to see him doing what makes him happy.
It is so very obvious to those who care enough to look closely at this man, that he did not waste his life, or his gifts. He is not wasting, or taking for granted his blessings, and that is important. So many of us are wasting the time we are being given. I thank this Master of music for sitting down and giving us some much needed words to LIVE by.
Gosh, I hope you read this, no matter how late I was to this interview! It is June, 25, 2020. We are living during a worldwide pandemic, (under the most corrupt Adminstration of my lifetime. I am 53.) I found you on RU-vid last night, my heart felt so much JOY! I danced and sang and grooved with such delight and thought to myself, what a genius you are and how blessed I am, to have lived at a time when you graced this Earth with your voice and talent and heart. I LOVE your shoes and the value they represent. Amazing! So many talented people have left us too soon. I’m glad you’re still here. As I have often said, exchanging youth for wisdom, (Caterpillar to butterfly as you put it), is a wonderful thing. So thank you for the music and joy. I sent it to a few friends last night, to bring joy to them in these tough times. Ripples....blessings to you and your family, from Seattle❤️🙏
Hi Sanada! I recall reading an article/interview where you rightfully mentioned how the critics overlooked your songwriting. You probably won't remember this but I met you after your gig at Kentish Town in London during your tour to promote 'Wild Card: The Joker Edition'. I shook your hand (you have strong hands), and told you that you are one of my favourite songwriters of alltime. You have one of the greatest bodies of work in recorded music. You're truely 1 of the greatist artists of alltime!
Sananda is one of several of the best singers in the world. A unique, magical voice with a huge range, incredible velvet and timbre, an exotic appearance of incredible beauty, a huge heart. I love forever.
I've listened to you since 1987 after I got into a near fatal car accident. YOU were there. I listened to you in the 1990s while placing myself in bad circumstances; YOU were there and you are part of my good memories of the 1990s; I slowed all the way down and YOU have been HERE and we both reflect. Always know; no matter what you feel was a down point along the way you were making music; at that point; that became somebody's calmness and/or joy. and I quote: "Beautiful child of God and man There's a messiah inside of you At times you feel like Your life don't mean a damn thing But beware of the reflections that sorrows bring" **************************** Loop Da Loop/Dance forever...
You touched me deeply back in the day baby.......I'm 70 and you still rock my.....SOUL. AND YOU WERE BORN ONE DAY BEFORE MY FIRST BORN SON, SO ITS A SPIRITUAL THING......
I'm so happy that I saw this tonight..You're spirit is just as beautiful as I remembered your from my past.. I am and will always be a fan of your work...God's continued blessings is my wish for you...
You are such a wise man, and old soul,so talented, my husband loved and introduced me to your music, and I will be forever grateful!!! Peace☮️ and Love♥️
I loooove your voice! i can listen to you all day speaking. You sing like a God. I love your music as TTD and Sananda M. Your music takes me to another world emotionally. You are wise and funny. Pls never stop singing. I listen to you since i was a kid. Silvia From Romania.
Sananda, You are an Amazing Soul with a Heavenly Spirit. Your voice is an Inspirational Force of expression. Your talent and force must have been too strong for whomever tried to kill it. I have just discovered your live version of you and your band, I couldn't hold back the tears. Thank you kindly 🙏
I am so glad that Sananda never compromised his art and his gift is blessed as a result. A good life lesson to take away is that no matter what always be you. Something I try to live by. 😁
I think the shoes are a great trick! More power to you. You are one of the most phenomenal talents of our time on the same level as Michael Jackson, Prince & James Brown. I'm very glad you're still alive. I'm glad you can pay your bills & have a family. I wish you the best.
Do the film it will help us now! I think more people are awake they will understand it now. And even if they don’t you would have touched someone’s life for sure. Just listening to this interview in 2021 has inspired me. Thank you for this🙏🏾❤️
Wow not only a MONSTER artist and musician but one of the wisest, most intelligent cats I have ever heard and to be so gracious and humble! Dang.....have always loved your music as have all my family! GOD bless you Sananda!😊🙏💖
Then you gave us 'Symphony or Damn' and 'Vibrator'. Two of the greatest musical works of art of the 90's. We waited for 'TTD's Solar Return', which after your struggle with the industry you were able to retain and share with us in the form of 'Wild Card'. Another extraordinary album of incredible singing, songwriting and allround musicianship, and produced to just the right amount of polish. Every album since continues in the same singular vein of boldness that only a true artist endeavours.
THANK YOU SO VERY VERY MUCH. You have said exactly what i needed to hear, to make my resolve to succeed in my vision of myself and my music for 2012. Bless you dear brother Sananda. Your quote as TTD 'Pick up your shovel and dig' has been a mantra for me for many years. LOVE your work and your spirit. Keep going, NEVER give up. You are viewed as a genius superstar to me if not to anyone else. THANK YOU SIR!
Wow just ❤️❤️you ! You have such a beautiful speaking voice too!! You still look amazing !!! Your one of a kind ! Thanks for all my beautiful childhood memories! Your music is my workout motivation! ❤️your style too! You just rock and your adorable to me! Your music is in my soul ! And your beyond gifted !! Looking forward to more of your beautiful music!!! 🤘🤗🎤🎧
You never got the credit you deserved! You are an incredibly talented artist. No one can imitate you, so unique! You're ahead of your time!!!!!! Oh, can I send you one of my demos?
The only problem with Sananda is that back in the day he was too good. We weren’t ready for him because we couldn’t get past the looks, the moves, the star quality, the industry/machinery driving him to be the next big thing.... Seeing him now I am reminded of when I saw Prince in concert. I didn’t enjoy it because the screams drowned out the amazing sounds of his voice and music. As TTD there was so much drowning out his spirit and his artistry. I appreciate that now we can just see HIM and besides the fact that he is still sharing his musical works he is giving so much more - the wisdom and guidance I got from this short interview is more than I have seen in any interview by any artist. Thank you.
I discovered this Beautiful mans music back in 1987. When I was only 22. His music was there the first time I made love to then fell in love with a boy with the bluest eyes and blackest hair, who I thought was an angel, and when we parted ways, heartbroken. His music was there in 1991 when I met a man from England, both of us shocked that we each knew every word to every song on TTDs first 2 albums, and spent our first night together in a rental car at a beach in SoCal singing at the top of our lungs. His music was there when our daughter sang As Yet Untitled for her high school talent show to a standing ovation. His music was there when me and that Englishman fought viciously and finally ended our 20 year marriage, and his music was there as one of many songs played at my 13 year old sons funeral...... I'm no longer 22,its no longer the magical 80s.......I'm 58 now,no longer young,,it's 2024,we've gotten thru covid and lockdowns,,wars and political corruption. We are people in a world that need healing. And here I am,struggling with insomnia, and finding peace in the wise words and soothing voice of a man who's been with me,often in the background, thru many important moments in my Life....... Thank you Sananda❤ From the bottom of my Heart, thank you❤
wow, this is a very honest interview, for him to admit that his career didn't meet the expectations he had of it. but he still has had an amazing career.
The Meaning of ( Sananda ) Derived from the ancient Sanskrit language means : ''Good Son'' The Meaning of ( Maitreya ): is a Bodhisattva in the Buddhist tradition is to appear on Earth,Achieve Complete enlightenment and teach pure Dharma.According to Scriptures, Maitreya will be a successor of the Sakyamuni Buddha.
I'm a Buddhist... and it's now 4:15 am, and i'm still listening to all of your great music.. Again, you are way before your time.. or a real blast from the past... GENIUS
The spiritual Sanskrit name matches the singer. He is enlightened soul with a divine purpose on earth. I thought he was some spiritual master so I clicked on his Sananda videos not knowing he is a singer😅 and a great one!
Tashi Delek Sananda. I believe when spirit guides you it should always be heard. What you have said is a reflection of your soul. It brings much thought and many feelings. Like varying into the pool of each of our lives journeys and what we've experienced. It is said that the gift of music is from the angels and you are certainly a kind of angel. I appreciate that you have always been such a gentleman and a classy one. You never belittled others or demeaned women in your path. I am proud of you and you deserve the very utmost of respect. I'm not surprised you became a Bodhisatva. Bless you and yours always. May you have health, wealth, happiness and joyful longevity. Om Mani Padme Hum
I am sharing this. Sananda I have been working on a project that reflects my transition from caterpillar to butterfly. At the moment, I'm subject to the pain of my cocoon, but am armed with the knowledge that I WILL emerge as a butterfly. I pray that the universe brings us together as you are the inspiration for my artistic endeavor.
I used to listen to Sananda, as TTD, in 80's and 90's, sometimes everyday. I've bought all his records. I really loved him, his strenght, energy, his voice, his delicious songs Today, I subscribed and I' ll follow him here! could see how he is different, too!!! I'm from Brazil.
Everyday TTD is on my play list and that will always be the case. American Idol and the Voice, Shows like this have killed the Art of Music lots of people can sing a song but it takes an artist to live the life that created the words and the music to transend race religion and politics. Womack Style
I had to watch this twice, just to be able to take it all in; those wise words and the awesome music.... Thank you #SanandaMaitreya for sharing your great talent and amazing music! Your incredible voice, musicality, funk and soul are unique and I enjoy your music every day! : )
Waow, that was cool :-) Thanks for sharing these moments with us. Keep on writing music for the next 25 years ! Maybe your good ol' shoes will make it :p) Love from France
I remember being a little boy hearing Introducing the Hardline According to Terence Trent D'arby and thinking it was one of the best things I'd ever heard. I'm a young man now, and I still believe it. I'm rediscovering Terence as Sananda, and I'm so appreciative of the work he has done after Hardline. He inspires me to want to be an artist, and I'm going to chase the dream. Thank you, Sananda.
i want to be a singer like u and im 32 now i think i wasted so much time but i will not give up im just getting confortable singing on youtube thank u for this inspiritation and it is a blessing to be alive longer than folks u looked up to its a blessing from God thank u for this
Beautiful Interview!! You are a Master of this craft. Loved the Caterpillar analogy, Loved hearing you talking about your "regrets".. But You Ain't Done Yet!!! Your cassette was the first music I bought when I was a boy, Then I met you in Taormina at Festival Bar where I sang. Total CIRCLE.
This is one of the best videos by Sananda Maitreya I have watched. (four in total). Sananda, thankyou for clarifying why men hold on to clothing that has marked its 20th Birthday. Ironically I am a woman that understads. Also the message at the beginging of this video, couldn't have come at a better time. As an Artist/Entrpreneur/Teacher/Mother I am going through some Very, Very, New Millenium Challenges...God Bless You!!!
awesome interview!!! I am so much in tune with Sananda's positive vibe and great advices. in a world of false messages I love his faith and passion for his work and for the music. THANK YOU, it made my day. I am driven by the belief that you are one of the greatest living legends of our time. KUDOS to you Sananda, a true inspiration!
sir I give you your roses now you're a genius and way ahead of your time .it will take probably another 2 generation for them to really fully understand your genius I thank you for being who you are .you're a great soul and you inspire others that's wonderful.... your friend in the sonic world of music ....
Sananda Maitreya, You are an absolute legend! Your art is amazing! I am so grateful for your voice and message in my life. Also, you are tremendously beautiful!
Dear Brotha Sananda... I love, respect, cherish and adore you as Artist...Spirit...Musician... and Vessel Of Love! You and your work inspire me and appreciate you. I've often been compared to you by the narrow minded, and just like you, more often compared to Prince, MJ, James Brown & Lenny Kravitz; but the truth of that matter is we're all so very different...& thank Goddess for that! I want to say onto you that you're one of THE best who've ever done it and keep up the God work, my friend!
Thanks again Sananda I'm a music artist and i know how easy it can be to get side tracked by things in life but i will keep pressing on no matter what.
We love you here in Moscow, Russia. Just want you to know u got fans here!!!). I adore and admire your great and marvellous voice and all your musical talents! And now I love your beautiful and deep soul. Your humility makes you even more handsome. It's a sign of a wise and mature personality. I'm greatful to God to know you)).
Yes, he's surprisingly honest...especially when speaking about "biggest dissapointment". But we know his songs always entertain us, move our heart and give us the idea of what the true music is. We love you, Sananda. We respect the way you survive. True artist.
I just want to thank you for being so spiritual and wise enough to know that the music industry was full of hate! You put on a new personality as the bible instructs too do in col 3:10. Now you're giving us still beautiful tone on your own direction. Such a powerful move. All should take notice! You became an untouchable WINNER! The other artists they died of a Nobel death! You're still among the brilliant LIVING!!
I was wondering where you were...Italy! Wow! Awesome!!! So glad you made it through the challenges in your life!!! MUCH RESPECT & HONOR!!! Still enjoying your music!!!
I have definitely felt your love an light shine through you in your music in the depths of my of my heart an soul an I thank you for that.Life is a dancer and you are the dance
Shame to all the forces that are holding this pure soul back for harming no one, and denying humanity his contribution to music. I watched Sananda in late 80s in Brussel and ever since i realized the great spiritual force he has, and promised to go to his concert and when in the US, but unfortunately, he was taking off the radar by the time I got to the US by the 90s. Thanx for rediscovering you and again.
I really value the insights shared in this offering and desire even more to experience the blessing of witnessing the music 'live'... I'm putting that desire into the Universe. So let it be.
Thank you for the uplifting words! Being an artist myself its good to hear the struggling and love on our pad in music from someone I have a lot of respect... Also your story of the butterfly Transformation was my inspiration of this symbol to make my album Transformation ( Farah Day) Time spirit and connection is what we all experience even when someone is living far away it's a trill of the earth that somehow find its frequentie And the shoes I understand as a woman musician ;-) 👍🏽😎
This was uplifting for me today. Sananda, you made it as a MTv pop icon at an early age. Do you know how many people dream of that? Including me. You have great tunes. Live long and prosper my friend.
