Honestly, it was difficult to write this preview. Toriyama-san was such a huge part of my life that it's sad to know that this is one of his last projects. Definitely better than that Jujutsu Kaisen sack of crap from January. Also, to say Toriyama-san effected the lives of many is really an understatement. This man literally shaped pop culture with his works! RIP Toriyama-san, the world will NEVER forget you.

@@BrandonDenny-we1rw I only know because I read up on everything Sand Land in preparation for my podcast where I talked about the demo a couple years ago. But yeah, we have this game, a new anime, and according to Wikipedia they made a movie as well last year.

It’s not as good as the manga mainly because they went for 3D for the characters, it’s like watching a video game cutscene and feels so cheap

2:00 Not "no particular reason". Water is scarce in this world, and it catches Beelzebub's interest when sherif Rao tells him that he believes he know where to find a mythical spring that could supply both humans and demons with endless amounts of it. Did you skip the intro?

Toriyama is one of two manga artists who saved my life. Im so happy to see this manga as a game, and soon an anime next year. They look great, and I loved the manga as a kid.

I'm very happy that they released the demo because, being a fan of the Manga and now the anime, I was a bit afraid... But oh boy, it's everything I hoped and more. It was the easiest pre-order I did in a lot of time. I won't lie, the Toryiama san nostalgia had a big role in it. Still I don't believe I'll regret it. Cheers to everyone from Portugal 🇵🇹

Looks pretty good looking forward to it, i would recommend the Manga too, its 1 volume and the artwork is peak. A jrpg with the adventures of kid goku could be awesome.

I'm honestly mind blown that one of Toriyama's shorter works (14 chapters) is getting adaptations of the high order given that short mangas with the same amount of chapters usually do not get adapted at all Hope the game truly delivers the hype and doesn't end like Sonic 06

Good question, I think more larger outlets will cover it because of that reason, but I think we would have had a good time with the preview regardless. I just wanted to mention a lot of this head so that the review can mostly focus on criticizing the game. - Azario

What will make or break this game for me is the feel of the vehicles' traversal and combat abilities. That was the one thing that DBZ Kakarot was worst at (its vehicles had awful controls so I always preferred to fly everywhere instead); I was ok with everything else so will likely find fun in the similar systems here as well.

Played the demo, thought it was boring. But I have not cancelled my pre-order. Not familiar with the IP, but the post apocalyptic world seems interesting

Yeah it was boring but I feel like that was because the quests and even exploration was turned off. You could just get a feel of how a few of the vehicles and combat works.

I mean this in the best pay possible. This looks like a game that would have been on dreamcast. Not the graphics, but the idea and concept. Its like a mix of evolution 2 and e.g.g.

I know it's called SAND land, but the demo did not convince me. I get that it's a desert, but there was NOTHING to see or do, and it honestly reminded me how bored I was in Fallout 3's equally stale world.

@@BrandonDenny-we1rw I’m glad you said “the worst way” because melee combat was absolutely useless in the demo, since all enemy soldiers use guns and you do more damage with your mechs. Literally no need to be on foot, in or out of combat.

The manga was very mediocre at best and is over 20 years old. Love Toryama, but after Dragonball, there was nothing else worth of note. He is a rightful legend for sure, though.

If you mean as a storyteller sure. But as an artist he had done tons of fantastic work since the end of Dragon Ball.

@@TonyTonyRedgrave Storyteller yes. Also the artstyle is fantastic, but it also didn't really evolve after Dragonball anymore. Dr. Slump and Dragonball are his masterpieces
