Sandalwood Carving - Sagara 

Sagara is located in the Shimoga district of Karnataka. Sandalwood is expensive wood when compared to other varieties of wood and a symbol of heritage. The craft is traditionally practised in and around villages of Shimoga. Many of the masterpieces are made for royal families of the Mysore palace and for Government organizations. The final products include photo frames, boxes, Jewelry boxes, art figures, idols of gods and goddesses, Candle stands, paper knives, nameplates, Panels depicting episodes of nature, and mythological epics and idols of elephants.
