इंडियन ओवरसीज कांग्रेस के अध्यक्ष सैम पित्रोदा के एक बयान पर बवाल के बाद बुधवार (24 अप्रैल, 2024) को कांग्रेस बैकफुट पर आ गई. चारों ओर आलोचना के बीच पार्टी को सफाई देते हुए इस टिप्पणी से खुद को अलग करना पड़ा. हालांकि, बाद में कांग्रेस के कुछ नेताओं की ओर से सैम पित्रोदा का बचाव भी किया गया और इसके लिए उन्होंने झारखंड के हजारीबाद से बीजेपी सांसद जयंत सिन्हा के एक पुराने वीडियो का इस्तेमाल किया.
