Canadian here. Our healthcare system isn’t perfect and definitely has its issues, especially right now as many Canadians face family doctor shortages and years long waits for surgery. But I thank my lucky stars every day that I’m here because I know of a medical emergency comes up for me or my loved ones that we don’t have to vote between treatment or horrible debt that we may never recover from. I myself had cancer and I owed nothing for my treatment. I was able to recover with peace of mind and security. Every American deserves that. The fact that anyone could consider that radical or wrong in some way is tragic.
It's pretty easy for those of us with what we consider badly set up public healthcare systems to forget that we're not comparing it to a good system, but the lack of a system.
We LOVE you Bernie Sanders! you should be finishing your second term now what a better world it would be! it should have been you, many of us will always consider you our best 'president' and human so happy Walz is on the ticket, time to get out of the Dark Ages and join the civilized world
I watched the rally live in Vegas with my 74 year old mother and my 9 year old daughter. It was incredible. Amazing. My daughter kept asking us, “why are you crying?” And I kept saying, “these are happy tears.”
The most remarkable thing about the rally is that thousands of people showed up just to wait in 108 degree heat just for a chance to participate - that should show the fervor and enthusiasm around Kamala and Walz now
Went from Victorville, CA to Tucson, AZ, with a friend in order to hear Bernie in 2016. And would have gone to NV to hear Harris and Walz if I could have. Good to get a glimpse of sanity and joy. Vote like your rights depend on it. 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
I love Bernie Sanders. He has always worked for the people. Unfortunately, so many people in this country just can't stand the thought of everyone having a better life. They'd rather be duped by a con artist that promises them everything and gives them nothing. Fortunately, this seems to be changing. People are tired of struggling and losing their rights. I hope Harris/Walz usher in a new and much-needed era for America.
I (European) am afraid you're wrong with your statement about the change. O, I would love you to be right, but usually as soon as a US politician slightly leans to the left their chances to get voted in decrease dramatically.
@@BevrintonWith respect, from what I can see, Bernie works much harder than you likely do, every single day of his life. At his considerable age, he is tireless in his ACTIVE support of ordinary people. Bravo, bravo Bernie Sanders👏🏻🌟💖
McDonalds in the USA we pay well minimum wage is 7.25 we give you almost 8! What you want more? We can't make a profit then! McDonals in Denmark we pay you 20.00/hour and part of your earnings before tax go to your pension funds , and you get 4 weeks vacantion even in your first year of working. And somehow they operate still in the country. Did i mention the burgers are $0.40 cheaper in that country?
We have all of Walz policies in GERMANY 🇩🇪 since like 50 years. Very important for a strong middle class. It’s called „SOCIAL MARKET ECONOMY“. Really, vote for Harris and Walz to get it implanted into law. My wife for instance took off 12 months paid leave for one of our children. The government paid her 67% of her regular salary each month. It’s called “parents money” in Germany.
Yes, also in the UK (and the rest of Europe), there has been universal health care for over 75 years, and also paid maternity and paternity leave, and of course, statutory paid holidays Disgraceful that America still has neither of these
There are those who are fighting to give ten year old kids free school lunches. And then there are those who are fighting to force ten year old kids to give birth. The choice is yours, dear US citizens.
Each and every policy enacted by Walz basically is minimum social standard all over Europe, whether governed by conservatives or progressives - and anyone who wants to get rid of it will be laughed out of the room. This isn't radical, it's policy for the people. It's just reasonable.
Seen from the extreme right wing everything else looks like "radical left" I, a Dutch guy, see very little leftism in US politics. Most democrats don't cross the center
I’m a Senior Citizen. I can’t afford glasses or dental work. I’m widowed and live on Social Security. Due to the long illness and early death oh my husband followed by a two year Cancer Battle for myself, our modest savings were emptied due to co pays and insurance not covering injections at $80 per day for my husband and then me. Project 2025 will eliminate SS and Medicare. I hope every Senior Citizen in the country is paying attention to this! it is real, folks who do not read please listen up.
Trump made a promise he will never cut Medicare or Social Security Mam, Project 2025 was not made by Donald Trump, all of this is not true. He stated Project 25 will never go into effect.
Sorry to hear about your situation. In Australia people like you would be helped so much more - there is no such thing as medical debt. Universal healthcare is what happens in ‘civilised’ countries.
Yes!! Someone finally said it! Canada is further left than Sanders! Are we a communist country???? It baffles me how the US is so afraid of social programs that HELP people!! You should study what France, Norway, Germany, Finland…the list goes on…does for their people. WE envy THEM! Their motto is “womb to tomb” in terms of taking care of its citizens. Are taxes higher? Yes, but when you live in freedom of fear of guns, medical bills, and seniors care (and sooo much more) it’s totally worth. There are reasons these countries always have the highest ratings of happiness each year. Take the step, America! Invest in your people! Rooting for you from Canada! ❤
Trump said he wanted to repeal and replace the ACA with a better plan. His plan. Yet, he's never shown us this plan. It's almost as if....he has no plan.
Bernie is a treasure, I'm not sure he realizes how many think highly of him. He is the real deal who cares for the people and this Country. He knows that things aren't fair and that Seniors, the Young, the Disabled, the Sick, are hurting. He cares, but there's so many who don't.
So well said, Bernie! As a European, it seems unbelievable to me that an "advanced" country like the United States doesn't have a Healthcare Service that is accessible to everyone! (And, yes ... you ARE a national treasure, Sir!)
It's the old throwback of RUGGED INDIVIDUALISM that is an underlying foundation in this country and conquering the wild west - and morphed into what is now late-stage capitalism run wild. We don't want your stinkin' healthcare, don't 'ya know. Because eye care and dental and hearing are radical things to want health care for. And also the b.s. like think the country is going to ruin because the poorest people are milking social services. Give me a break.

Bernie!!!! Thank you for being in the government and pushing people into the right direction. I hope you'll be speaking for all regular people for a long long time, enough to see real populism in govmt and less corruption.
The only reason we don't have Medicare4All today is because the GQP in congress wanted to protect the interests of their corporate overlords. Even though I had to go to war to qualify, I'm thankful every day for my VA health care, especially in my old age.~A grateful veteran.
I believe Bernie Sanders makes so much sense because he speaks with common sense. Bernie speaks to people in a manner that makes them feel that someone in Washington understands them...
Up here in Canada, as a senior, I get a bus/train unlimited pass for $45.00 a Year, pay $0.00 in healthcare costs, and this year the government just added free dental care to my support. We are better in every way than the USA!
That's a fact. I used to live in Canada and I regret coming back to the US sometimes. It's stressful dealing with healthcare here, not to mention a few other things.
Canadian here. Now a senior. I pay $4.11 per prescription. This past year, I had chemotherapy, radiation, CT scans, PET scans, and more. Total cost to me was $0. We may have some issues with our health care, but at least we can have treatments and not end up being bankrupt and destitute. I hope my southern neighbours will soon have similar healthcare. You all deserve it!
I am a USA citizen who moved to Sweden my health care is amazing. Once I got my residency I received appointments in the mail for pap smear, breast exams , lung care as I have COPD. X-rays Mri's cost me nothing. My prescription medication which is over 8 pills including inhalers once I hit 200 bucks is Free for a year. I recently fell and fractured my pelvis and spent 3 weeks in hospital it cost me 150 USA. Denmarks health care is even better. Taking care of your citizens health benefits all.
@@DellikkilleD Our gun laws also have something to do with it. Literally thousands of Americans are killed every year because every lunatic is allowed to carry military weapons in your country. Go Bernie! The man speaks the truth. It is common sense needs and not far-left, radical ideals. Universal healthcare, updating Social Security, a fair living wage, having the upper class and corporations pay their fair share of taxes and even free or a lower cost education is what our country needs to move ahead.
I lived in Sweden and live currently in Portugal- these policies that Mr Sanders advocates for are a part of every country’s system in Europe! @@Micheleseeker yeah it really is simple. What I would like people in the US to realise is that they are really deprived of their freedom because the system effectively remove choices from them. When you can’t afford to go university, when you have been raised in a difficult environment which effectively means your school district is less funded, then you have less chances to get a scholarship. You have higher risks to end up in jail, higher risk of not being able to cover medical bills, and if you do want to make ends meet, then you need to get 2 or 3 jobs. This isn’t freedom. It’s freedom maybe if you are well born but not otherwise. Freedom is being able to go to school and receive the same education, regardless of your background. Freedom is choosing to go to university or not. Freedom is coming home without wondering what would happen if you get sick. I live in France, England, Italy, Sweden, Denmark and now Switzerland. Let me tell you: when I live in Denmark, I paid about 40% tax. But I was covered left right and center. My mind was free to think about so many things, but never about life difficulties. I would go to work, and go to school to learn danish because it’s free. I was able to afford holidays easily because you earn well enough money. I got a flat which was partly financed by the state, because you can ask for it. It’s the same for everyone. I worked 37 hours a week because it is the law. I had 5 weeks paid holiday because it’s the law. This is freedom. Not working 80 hours a week with one week off if you re lucky.

@@jkhuckaby1985there's already free lunch care plan that spin across the USA long before I ever got here. No one else knows who's getting the free lunch or not because it's done with a barcode on a little plastic card like a debit card size. Parents who can't afford will put money into the kids food account. The ones that cannot afford fill out an online application and they receive free lunches. They use the same card that's identical and appearance to others. No one knows who is receiving the free lunch compared to money coming off the card from the parents. There's already free lunches in place. You're not going to see some kids sitting at a lunch table with no lunch. The method I mentioned above doesn't display which kid is getting a free lunch or not getting a free lunch. This is not some novel idea. It's been happening for a long time before I was here. It's important not to depend on government unless people are like disabled or seniors etc. That's why there are programs set in place already. There's no reason to tax everyone for something they're never going to use or rather yet something they choose not to use. A lot of kids take their lunch to school with them. So does that mean they get a rebate since they didn't use the free lunch program? Just keep everything really simple and help the people that need help and the ones that don't need free lunches don't need to get taxes raised when they probably won't even have kids that use the free lunch. What about people who don't even have children in their life? Does that seem fair to pay for something unless it's mandatory at 50% of the income? How about everyone, including low income people receiving help from different programs also pay 50% mandatory before they receive anything from the government social programs? I don't think too many people would agree with that either way. Just keep it the way it is which means free lunches for people who need them. If someone wants to have extra money taken out of their income at a higher percentage through taxation, let them choose. If they want to take advantage of certain programs then they get taxed at a certain percentage. If they don't take advantage of those programs then they don't get taxed at that level. The reason this would never work is because you would have people making more money that are paying higher tax for something which they don't need or use. Not everyone goes to college so let the people who are the creative geniuses become creative entrepreneurs. The majority of the wealthiest people in the world came from very little and didn't graduate people Bill Gates, Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs and the other Steve that helped found Apple in the list goes on. Just be grateful if you're receiving help from the government because in the majority of countries across the world and individual would not receive assistance from the government for things Americans just take for granted like food stamps or housing etc.. I'm from Venezuela and I'm a legal refugee of 23. I'm female and a student. I know when I got a loan for school that I am going to be responsible and plan to pay it back. Please don't try to change the way this government works just because whatever the reason may be. You wouldn't want to live in Venezuela folks. This is extremely serious and I'm giving Americans warnings that you don't want what you think looks good and shiny. All kids don't need school meals for free because many of them aren't considered low income family.
@@nancychandler3673 what's wrong with just trying to be a country that can choose rather than be forced to pay a certain percentage? The idea should be optional. No one should be forced and if they don't pay the percentage then they don't receive those benefits. They pay out of their own pocket if they don't agree to paying 50% of their income. There are many social programs within USA that do give health care, food stamps, rental assistance and even money every month when there's a need. There are churches and other spiritual centers that donate food and clothing free of course. They aren't free because they receive donations and they receive money to keep the lights on. This is USA and most Americans just do not want the government telling them their mandated to do something with 50% of the money they made working. It should be optional. Unfortunately, that won't work because most people will choose the option to not pay 50% and rather have the money in their pocket for emergency situations when the country potentially is in a serious state of recession/depression. Right now our country is spinning so much money every year that all the taxes paid are only paying the interest on what we borrow from other countries. I hope you guys do understand that we owe so much money to other countries that if they asked us to pay today, it couldn't be done. If they decided to cut us off today, we would just be cut off. We owe a lot of money to other countries and right now taxes are paying for interest only. It's not been like that until we've started to spend a lot more money in the last couple years to other countries and our own. You can't depend on government unless you have no option. Just give Americans options if they want to be taxed 50 or 60% and use programs from government. Never should it be mandatory. It's not a lack of compassion but it's actually like a parent teaching a child how to be prepared to take care of himself one day and if they can't the parent is always there to help them if need be. That is the analogy between government and citizens or people who live here. Trust me guys when I tell you that you don't want a country that will be like Venezuela. Ask anyone, like me, that came from that country. Why do you believe people are flocking out of the country? They're leaving Venezuela because the funds have been burnt. It just isn't something Americans would be happy with and especially since Americans did fight to get away from a system that tells them what to do in taxes them at bizarre rates.

My typical co-pays in my nearest private hospital (very nice place) include $2 for a GP consultation, and $2 for an X-ray. The co-pay for a major op (e.g. knee or hip replacement) might be close to $0 in a public hospital, or perhaps $500-$1,000 in a private hospital. Even outside of the public system (i.e. full private fee), I'm simply amazed at what I paid in the last couple of years: full blood panel including cholesterol panel, hormone levels and cancer markers for $75, consultation with orthopedic surgeon for $75, consultation (and full physical including echocardiogram and EKG) with a cardiologist ($100). I've also had CT scans ($50) and MRIs ($200) pretty much on-demand (typically within an hour or two of asking for it). My dentist is similarly awesome at around $75 for my twice-a-year check-up/clean.
@@Streik08 You are dumb, Dems controlled the house the first two years. The 2020 United States elections were held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020. The Democratic Party's nominee, former vice president Joe Biden, defeated incumbent Republican president Donald Trump in the presidential election. Despite losing seats in the House of Representatives, Democrats retained control of the House and gained control of the Senate.
That's fine, but Trump is just a symptom of what is really wrong. Just getting rid of Trump will not solve the problems. The problem is the incredible transfer of wealth from the people to a highly privileged class of super billionaires who now own the news media, the entertainment industry, the means of production, the entire republican party, and the majority on the Supreme Court. We need to bring the wealth and the country back to the people. It is much more than just getting rid of Trump.
I am a 74 year old woman in PA. For 50 years I have worked for the low minimum of 7.50 and less. I am retired and still poor. I hope I can get dental coverage as it has gotten bad.
I’m so sorry. Have you talked a dentist office about options s which might be available? Sometimes dental schools offer low cost care. I hold you in my prayers.
I support Bernie's ideas about Medicare and Social Security. I believed our health care costs would be covered when I was paying into Medicare. However the elderly cannot afford the deductible and copays when they use medical services. This leads them to avoid getting the care they need. For those who can afford it, they have to pay for Medicare supplement insurances plus what they are charged for Medicare itself, in order to be reasonably covered for health care, It is also important to note that the federal government and some states tax Social security income. It seems wrong that we pay into Social Security during our working years and are then taxed for collecting those benefits later in life. We will all be elderly at some point and we should have the benefits to help us live reasonably well.
Well, the media shouldn’t let trump talk his bs. Unbelievably, the easily fooled portion of the US still believes trumps nonsense and will vote for him. Fact check trump or just stop covering him.
As a Canadian, where we have long ago enacted across our country, most of Walz’ Minnesota list, I joyfully endorse Harris and Walz. Ali is Canadian, and he knows that these policies actually work in Canada. 🇨🇦

Like many of the real nice folks in Minnesota I am a Scandinavian-American. So I don't see the relationship between Socialism and Capitalism as an either/or choice. I see it as an and/also option. The reason why Scandinavia has such a great economy and why their populations’ rate happiest in the sociological datum. Is because their Socialism compliments their Capitalism and their Capitalism supports their Socialism. American's should stop thinking of these two economic options as an either/or choice. When they could also be a very effective and/also option. Which could benefit the entire society. Leading to increased happiness in the sociological datum. And even a decrease in American anger and resentment. For if the government were more responsive to the needs of the people the people might be less antagonistic toward each other.💙
Finnish ancestry here.... I agree with you. Too many in the U.S. don't regard the U.S. for what it is. We are a mixed economy where businesses and households contribute into our system, and they both get things back from it (labor, sales, wages, spending, resources, services) It's not Capitalism or Socialism. What it needs to be is a well-balanced system that works for all - or, specifically, the circular flow in a mixed economy. You are correct. If we functioned as we should, the government's role would solely be to be responsive to the needs of the people - all people. Period.
