Sandies financial difficulties were years ago, she has been finanacially secure for many years since that time. She is now respected as a ground breaking artist, and is regarded as a true icon of British popular music!
Yeah, typical AI-sounding generic rubbish trashing the career of a great singer who has re-invented herself. Why not focus on her therapy, her (fairly) recent re-recording of Puppet on a String and other new stuff - her enduring robustness. A proper talent, that deserves the respect of decent research, not click-bate.
Oh well, she got over it, it seems. I have immense respect for singers of the era, but her version of occasional insolvency probably beats my version of constant solvency any day of the week. Get over it, Mr AI Man! You ain't seen nothing yet! Who said that? JJ Geils perhaps?
As a youngster in the '60's Sandie was my first crush having seen her on "Ready Steady Go" . Still listen to and enjoy her music now as a old fella of 70 .
😂😅 Sandie Shaw has always been my favorite united Kingdom singer. So many wonderful songs over the years. My personal favourite is - Where did they go 1972 .Thanks for the wonderful memories Sandie !..... 😊
Sandie Shaw is one of the top and my top most influential central singing female voices who added a new and a genuine dimension of beautiful vocal colour to my musical world of song. It is time we all chipped in and help and give her a helping hand here and now in her time of need. I suppose I should lead in this charitable act of generosity. Sandie, if you should read this comment please do get in touch ASAP!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I went to a Working Mens Club, in Manchester in the mid Seventy. I was with a friend dressed as gangsters, with the hats! I watched Sandy Shaw catch our dress and looking at us. God bless Sandy, those were were the days. I am now 68 I still listen to the good old 60s and 70s songs.
Sandy was an astounding talent in British pop. In my opinion, there were few female pop artists who could compare to her - Dusty Springfield being the only one I can recall. Her powerful voice, professional delivery and charming persona meant she out-classed most other female performers of her era.
Her financial problems happened in the 1970s , since then she successfully rebuilt her life and is more astute. One of the original 'Brit Divas' of the 1960s . Talented and very marketable
I fell in love with Sandie Shaw in 1964 as a seven year old school boy and adore her to this day. Although she did hit rock bottom in the 70's, she fought her way back and became successful in other areas. People forget just how huge she was in Europe, recording not only in English but also in French, German, Italian and Spanish. She was also shrewd enough to hang on to her copyright/publishing which means that she'll never lose all of her money and why I find the title of this short documentary sensationalist, irritating and inaccurate. Also being a true British star of the 60's, the American narration is a bit out of place...a true British 60's icon
Also America missed out. Sandie was number 1 in Canada. America just didn't get her for some reason. She was number 1 all over the world and still a teenager. Thanks to whoever did this tribute, long overdue
I grew up in Italy in the 60's and I remember her on Italian television singing the Italian version of "Girl Don't Come" she was very popular then and still remembered by her Italian fans. She sang in French and German too and is a very talented singer.
The thing is she is still a very famous part of British music and no matter what age couple of concerts music festivals tv mag interviews she could still make money providing her voice is still there I would definitely go to see her absolute legend 🇬🇧🏴
I loved Sandie's music in my teens. Still do. She's a good singer, so natural. I still have some of her old CD's I listen to. I like her lesser known songs and hunted everywhere to find a rare one I hadn't heard in years. Sandie is a pretty smart lady and can also sing in other languages. Not bad at all, for a girl from a humble working class background.
I love Run as well. It was a very underrated song. It could have done with another verse but I still love it. I believe it was the first song about stalking.
Beautiful lady beautiful voice my husband worked at Ford Motor Company and he met Sandie Shaw I remember she was very beautiful and she had a lovely personality❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Morrissey, the lead singer with the British band The Smiths, was a huge fan of Sandie Shaw, inviting her to play with his band right from the brilliant start of the band (1984). Morrissey looks genuinely mesmerized by Sandie's presence in one of The Smiths first videos, called Charlie's Bus, when Shaw comes from out of the blue at Kew Gardens, where Morrissey and other band's members are shooting a video. But later on Morrissey describes Sandie very differently, especially in his Autobiography. He said that he was talking with one of the record label's managers and the guy said that Sandie Shaw was asking for 55% of all royalties obtained through the selling of the two Smiths' songs she recorded, with the rest 45% to be shared with the other 4 members of the band. Morrissey asked the manager if she gave some explanation for the request and the manager replied: "Well, she said she needed the money".
I've interacted with Sandie on one or two occasions due to the strange coincidence that we share a home town, a birthday and went to the same school albeit 11 years apart. This video is a bit misleading. She may not be super rich but I doubt if she's one meal away from the workhouse either. Just a good, honest Dagenham girl who had a career in music and has now retired. Nothing to see here. Move along.
Her first marriage, the account you give is a softer and more subtle way of saying they were living well beyond their means. Something they are not alone in doing.
My mother met her whilst being in hospital. Said she was a pompous cow who thought she was better than the staff whom she was extremely rude towards them... Like a Muppet on a string!
Sandie Shaw, so the rumours of media and gossip abound3d in the 60's, got her break by bursting into Adam Faith's dressing room and who knows what followed!!
Skint at 76 big deal, its not if your 26 and never had a life, come on sell the jewellery live in a council house theres homeless hungry people out there.😊.
I'm surprised to hear of a working class background, to me and many others she seemed pretty classy. Her songs were in a class of there own, and the Liverpool wave did not sweep her away.
Ol' Big Feet is still going strong. Standing at around 5' 9" tall in her stockinged feet, she was very attractive, but tall for a lady in the 1960s (even tall nowadays, 60 years later). A good idea to go shoeless (as she often did), she'd have looked ridiculous in high heels. Great voice and great songs as well...
I played a small part in her Eurovision win. My Irish language teacher (who was a shit) was a friend of the songwriter and one day he got the whole class to vote so that Puppet on a String would be chosen for the competition entry.
She never had a fortune. The fortune goes to the people that wrote the song, not the pretty girl contracted to run around singing it. She would have needed world class business acumen to make proper money. Sadly, that isn't often the case.
I don't know her, but she Lost Money, big deal, She's alive, try helping her up besides kicking her when shes down, make her strong again Little HELP goes a long way.. God Bless you all you need it
Unfortunately the jarring voice of the commentator/AI ? completely spoiled the interesting and informative content about this brilliant singer and inspiring woman.
Who are you sandy Shaw to say don't lie to me when I wasn't liying I was telling the truth . Also who are you to say I have 'nt changed . I don't even know you If you don't believe me then don't ask me I don't answer to you stay out of my life . Your not god and dont judge me .
