That was my drive Alex repaired. I’m grateful for his skill. He rescued all of the more than 30,000 irreplaceable files for me and indeed returned them on a brand new drive. Happy customer. 👍
@@craig7350pendrive and your computer don't have original data. Your windows files are been copied from installation media. Any other files you download from internet are also copied from file hosters. Any files you copy into removable drive are also downloaded from hosted servers and copied into your computer and then into your removable drive. What original data?
Good stuff man. You’re really the first Channel that really explains electronics repairs in a way I can understand. I’m a DIYer but electronics always have intimidated me. I’m very much into cameras and would love to see you fix a camera one day. Particularly the motherboards which tend to go bad on digital cameras. If I ever need something fixed you’ll be my go to! Also I used to live in Northridge. Good stuff!
The term motherboard is misused a lot. Motherboard is usuallly a big board where we add small boards or components like screens. Small boards like a flash drive isuaully just called board and if you connect to an usb port, it makes it a daughter-board.
Yesterday I fixed my water damaged Samsung A53. Took it apart and cleaned corrosion off with rubbing alcohol. Put it back together and it worked. It was not easy on my eyes. I take my hat off to you Alex for what you do every day. I have a new found appreciation for those that do micro soldering and phone repairs.
This guy's sayings are great. I now find myself using two of them in my everyday activities When I cannot find what I'm looking for....."it's gone to the 9th dimension" When I'm happy with work I've done....."better than factory". I don't have a RU-vid channel so I can't be done for copyright 😆
I have the same drive and yes it broke from the very same spot. I completely discarded the shell and added some plastic support behind the tip and keep using it without any issues. It has the weirdest looks among all other drives 😅
Kinda funny to see this because when I was looking at buying some flash drives a few months ago I saw this one and thought "that looks weak". I was right!
i always look forward to the new videos with the new microscope so crisp easy on the eyes and detailed don't get me wrong i still watch the old video as well i just look forward for the newer ones
I always wondered if you sent them back on a replacement drive or just simply sent them over digitally. I figured sending them digitally would give undeniable proof of receipt.
They probably want a physical drive with all their files on it. Cloning the drive would be faster and easier than uploading multiple gigabytes of data, unless the customer needed the files immediately.
I hope the guy who works on mythumb drive is as good as you are. They have it now. You working on a thumb drive is very interesting. A first for me to see.
You really got me when you said "No problema señor" I just got confused and played that part again. Spanish is my first language and I'm studying in the US. 5:20 you really got traumatized by your mom checking your videos just to see if you have the fume extractor on :v so you now just remind her, yes, it is on, and after I am done soldering, I turn it off mom! I enjoy your videos a lot!!
Can you do a video on how would be a good process to package a laptop to be sent to you? I have a 17" laptop and I am having a hard time figuring out how to properly package it to prevent damage.
Excellent friend, one question, does this sandisk cruzer blade model not have a recovery and flashing program or software? Once they are write-locked they are useless and there is no program to unprotect them. Even the sandisk brand has not released the mpt software to be able to flash the memory chip of these sandisk cruzer blades? Is there any way to unsolder the memory and place it on another chip compatible with the software of another brand and repair it from another flash drive and then put it back on the sandisk or is it not possible to do that? Thank you.
Great video man and this smile after device works 👍. You can also send also link with files to customer through Dropbox secured with password to be even more secured from things you mentioned 😉
Please make video on how to properly desolder a power stage mosfet like the ncp302150 from a gpu board like the msi rtx3080 gaming x trio. Im sure there are so many newbie technicians that wants to learn how to desolder these kind of chips. What temps are needed and what type and wattage of heat gun. Is there any chance we can desolder these kind of chip with a 700watts helical type heat gun. thank you
You can get in almost any kind of store a few bucks Pendrive, 3$...5$... for that amount of money is a good idea to have a backguard, and maybe also you can charge it in the invoice.
Mashallah very great tution you give presise l love the way you explain in depth and allowing others to pass on the skills which you have like ussuals enjoy brother 👍 stay gappy like you always do seems and most of all and above all be blessed in all walks of your life 🤗👌 enough of me With this Bye , Arios, Ciao & Wassalam to you aling with your viewers also of the channel 😍🙋
Why not make the files available to the customer over the net? You could pack them into an ISO and then compress it in a password protected zip or a self-extracting rar and have them download it from somewhere. Do you think that would end up being more hassle in the end?
@@khatharrmalkavian3306 It is much simpler for most people to get a replacement flash drive with their data, so they have a physical copy of their data. You assume everyone has a fast high speed internet connection, drives and knowledge how to do this. In the real world, that is not how it works. The data recovery in many of those cases are for people that are not sophisticated computer users. If they were, the drives would have never been an issue as they would have backed up their data in the first place.
Great repair Alex, can I ask what the binding strips you bridged the traces with are called, had a look on your site, don't know where to start, not even sure you even have these listed?
Awesome video, as always. Bravo! I have a question: in such situations, wouldn't it be interesting (for both the customer and yourself) to imagine a "device-less" procedure for the customer to get their data back? For instance, copy the files to a "server" of your own (such as a NAS), then send a sharing link to the customer so that they can download their data then delete them? Sending back a new drive could then become optional (only if the client needs one), and could save time, hassle, and possibly money (?) regarding shipping, and would allow you to get rid of "security" risks of regular mail/shipping (trade-off: digital security, but nowadays, NAS like Synology's ones for instance are really good and hassle free) What do you think? Again, bravo, and thank you for your amazing videos. Cheers from France! 🙂
I've seen some other data recovery services offer that, but I think some customers may not like the idea of their data being on a server accessible from the Internet (in the case it gets hacked etc). However offering this as an option would be good for some customers who are ok with this, I agree.
If I were the customer, I would want the original drive back along with the recovered data flash drive. It would then be my choice as to how to secure the original flash drive.
always amazing on your experience and skills in micro soldering. and where do you get all these parts at? i’m trying to find a 32 pin laptop keyboard ribbon connector (locks ribbon in place ). love seeing ur success stories
I've got one of those drives. The shell plastic is brittle as heck. There are much more durable drives. SanDisk makes good stuff but this design...not so much.
Thanks for sharing. What do you do with the original USB stick? Do you keep it or drop it for recycling? Isn't it the property of the customer? 🤔 When I fix something I give the faulty parts back to the customer so he can take care of it.😁
I fixed same drive years ago. I did it with enamel wire, and I've wired it trough those 2 holes to the other side because it was easier to solder them on that side. Cool design, crappy product. (funny I still have it and its working)
Can i ask you a question? Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Are you still repairing boards? If you want to improve your business what would you do?
I have a Lexar 32G thumb drive that seems to only have a nand chip but no pcb board. Does anyone know of this is possible? I've never seen once without a pcb. Thamls, Steve...
