Sandra playing the idol actually did a lot for her game. By playing it, she made Colby and Rupert realize she COULD have saved them if they had just listened to her. It also showed the heroes that she really wasn't with Russell because she felt threatened by him and his alliance enough to play it. All she had to do was mention to the heroes during Final Tribal Council how she was always on their side and they never listened to her, and that got her the victory. That's EXCELLENT social and strategic play. Plus look at how most of the jury reacts to her playing the idol. Danielle, Courtney, Amanda and Candice are grinning and openly rooting for her. How did Russell and Parvati miss that?!
To be fair, Parvati didn't miss that. She didn't wanna go to the end with Sandra at all. Her ideal F3 was her, Russell, and Danielle which she easily wins, but Russell fucked that up by needlessly booting Danielle because of jealousy. Then she wanted to take Jerri to the end instead of Sandra, but Russell was too stupid to realize that Sandra was the biggest jury threat still in the game.
Agreed. Parvati was certainly a strategic force in the game, but I really think she could have won if she had just cut Russell loose as he went after Danielle. The Heroes would have at least respected her for getting rid of him, and she could've brought Danielle and Jerri to the end instead of Sandra. Instead, she kind of just...stuck with him even after all the crap he pulled. Yeah, he's a perfect goat, but it actually HURT her game to keep him rather than get rid of him because of all that crap he pulled. Russell and Parvati were not a good endgame duo.
And also to be fair to Parvati, once Danielle was voted out, it didn't matter which one she took to the end out of Jerri and Sandra, because either of the two could beat her in the final tribal, especially since Jerri always seemed to dodge all the bullets associated with being Russell's ally...even the Danielle blindside, when she was the only other villain to write Danielle's name down
Even though I love Parvati (she is my second favourite survivor, only behind Queen Sandra) I was really disappointed with her jury management this season - she treated the people in her alliance decently but the people outside her alliance like crap. She pretty much screwed herself over by getting cocky to the heroes. Edit: Also what the others said, after Danielle got blindsided it was inevitable Parvati couldn't win. This season's outcome gave me two emotions - happy for Sandra, but another part of me feels sorry for Parvati since Russell fucked up her game so much.
Everything about Sandra in this vote was baller. Telling Rupert he'll still vote for her, standing up and asking Jeff if she should let him finish. Saying she didn't want to go home with the idol in her bra. Just great showmanship in front of the jury.
@@GeauxHogs9 , people always want to throw away the social part of Survivor when the player they want to win doesn't. Parvati didn't do enough to distance herself from Russell or garner enough jury votes to win. Sandra would vote with Russell and still let him she was against him. She was the last member of her alliance and lasted from the merge until final 3. She deserved her wins and her crown. Who knows if there'll ever be another female 2 x winner.
@@rugr82day I agree with this whole heartily, Pavarti played a good game, and I wouldn't of been mad if she won, but in the final tribal council, she went from saying Russell was her pet, to having to defend having him as an ally. She did say that she needed him early on, and she did because it was just Danielle, Russell, and het, but she kinda flaunted (in my point of view) how Russell was her pet, insonuating she was using him. She may have, but then why did he go off on his own script to get rid of Danielle, which ended up opening a spot in the final 3, that and by kinda joking Russell was her pet, I wouldn't be surprised some of the jury associated some of his antics or whatever with her, in the end tainting her game. Then for Sandra, yes she failed in her goal to get rid of Russell, but she had a decent relationship with the jury, and yes, most of her votes came from the heroes on the jury, that's because they saw that it probably would of been better to work with her at various points, rather than to try to vote her out. Oh, and that she stood up to Russell. While Russell was doing his antics, and Pavarti not doing a good job in saying she needed him and his vote to get far in the game in spite of his antics, Sandra showed she wasn't down with that, even going as far as, when Russell was saying "Either you're with me or against me", Sandra blatenly said she was against him, and Russell did nothing, even though he could of voted her out at F4 and kept Jerry.
@@generalnutcase101 Sandra had a really interesting answer at Final Tribal Council when Amanda asked her how her strategy was better than Russell and Parvati. Sandra said she wished her strategy had been better because if it had been, Russell wouldn't be there. She talked about how she tried hard to get Russell out, but the Heroes wouldn't listen to her. Ordinarily, saying that your strategy should have been better wouldn't be a great answer, but for this particular jury, that was _exactly_ the right thing to say. Sandra is an amazing player.
@@FernandoAlonso-cj6pr Amanda prob had a fallout with Parv after micro or was just bitter or depressed because she lost as a runner-up 2 seasons in a row. Idk about Candice and Parvati stuff.
No one let her play the game she wanted to play. Everyone made it virtually impossible for her to gain power. Yet she still found power and won. Period.
This move probably gave Sandra the win to the jury because we hadn't seen but Sandra had told Rupert and Colby that they could possibly blindside Russell at this vote and they didn't listen to her and instead tried voting her out. Rupert and all the heroes always denied Sandra and went to Russell for help which caused their downfall. She tried helping them at the merge vote, the second vote at the merge, and at this spot. These three things as well as her public dismay for Russell led to the jury votes of JT, Colby, and Rupert.
That and Parvati highlighting Sandra's "I'm against you, Russell" line in front of a Jury that really disliked Russell. I really wonder how else she thought that would've gone
Hey All, they reacted like that when Sandra was playing her idol, at the time they thought she was pulling off a big move... until Jeff read all the votes and everyone realised that wasn’t a big move because she didn’t need to!
@@bigladthomas You forget that she had a rapport with some of them. She showed her hand clearly to the Heroes despite everything that happened. It didn't have to be a big move; it was simply a clear signal to them.
Sally Vee Russell, Parvati, Danielle and Jerri are responsible for the Heroes not taking out Russell in the merge because before the merge they were talking about if it should be Courtney or Sandra, they chose to save Sandra because they knew the Heroes would trust Courtney more than Sandra and they were right! The only reason Sandra made it to the merge was because of her loyalty and she was the weakest player of Boston Rob’s alliance! Also the only reason Parvati even made it to the final 3 was because of Russell choosing rid of Jerri over her. Parvati May have gotten more votes than Russ but it still was a better move! I don’t think I’m simple minded, I now understand why her idol was played other than safety but I think you would be the simple minded one for thinking Sandra is better just because Russell seems like a dick!
This right here is the perfect example why Russell is a terrible player. Sandra plays idol and the entire jury starts cheering. Even Parvati was grinning and laughing at this. Russell was oblivious to how well liked Sandra was when the Jury was cheering for her RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM!
He always forgot how to win Survivor even though that was his second time playing the game (i know he only had 10 days after the final tribal on the island, so he didnt get to find out the store). He never learnt that the Jury is the one that decides who gets the million, so you dont fuck the people you vote out, you do it with some respect like Sandra did. She was involved in every vote but didnt shit down the jurys vote while doing it.
Sandra was right about each of the heroes causing their own destruction. She really tried to help them and gave them a golden opportunity to blindside Russell. They didn't listen to her and looked what happened. Russell shouldn't have underestimated Sandra's social game because it's equally as important. That's what made Sandra a two time winner.
Anyone who still thinks that Sandra is undeserving of being a two time winner needs to watch this clip and see just how good she was at making sure that she'd be getting the majority of the votes at final tribal
Warsame Farah • Although I agree she didn't really have the best strategic track record this season, one of her moves was a very crucial one, managing the jury correctly. All else doesn't matter but the jury management. She convinced the heroes that she tried to help them three times (which wasn't a lie), therefore she could not make many strategic moves due to this. Because the heroes felt they owed her, they all voted for her plus her last alliance member, Courtney.
Anyone who still believes that Sandra was deserving in either of her wins should not have the honor of participating in this amazing show that is Survivor. She is the best coaster the game has ever seen... Goat Queen.
Sandra played the game by not going for the big moves unnecessarily. She works best working on subtle moves to get herself further into the game. When Danielle was voted off the island, she said she would have been giving the idol to her had she brought it with her BUT that would put her in jeopardy (watch her secret scene- Sandra plays her idol) anyway. Why? It will be 3 vs 3 (Parvati, Danielle and Sandra) vs (Colby, Russell and Jerri - with Rupert voted out). Instead of shaping up the game again to get the majority, she decided to keep it low, thinking it is best to stick to Russell and be invincible because apparently she is not the actual target. And when she did the move of giving up her idol to negate the 2 votes of her, it was simply to tell I am not 100% with Russell and I have been here all on my own failing to convince the Heroes and being at the bottom of my own alliance BUT I WAS NEVER IN DANGER UP UNTIL TONIGHT BECAUSE THIS WILL BE THE FIRST TIME MY NAME HAS EVER BEEN WRITTEN DOWN NOT AS THE WINNER. LOL. And what can you say more about her social skills? It only mattered when she needed to showcase it at the right time. By convincing Russell to take her to the end, bowing down to Russell's ego before striking back for the WIN. She has potty mouth, she is loud and sassy but she is Sandra.
The thing that's interesting to me is that Parv knew Sandra was a threat long before the final tribal. Russell did not and he missed out how delighted the heroes were after seeing her play the idol. Love Parv, but I'm glad I saw this again because this encapsulates Sandra's game pretty well.
The hero Tribe was really a mess, the biggest downfall for them was voting Cirie out. The idol NEVER! Would have been handed over to Russell, and a Hero would've won this season . Just my opinion
I doubt JT would have listened to Cire in regards to Parvati, since they went to final 3 together in Microneisa, and Cirie would deceive JT to help out Parvati.
Keeping Cirie till the merge would be a stupid move she had phenomenal strategic ability and also would have flipped to the other tribe if she viewed it as best for her game. Trusting her to stay loyal to them would be dumb.
@@randomboy1188 The problem was by voted Cirie out, the Heroes lacked any strategic player going into the merge. Their most strategic minded player left was Amanda, who to be honest, benefitted from being paired with even better strategists in Todd and Parvati in her first two seasons. Cirie would've never trusted Russell like JT did.
Also another reason why Sandra won was because she tried and warn them all about Russell and they didn’t listen so him and Parvati just voted them off one by one and think “I should of just listen to Sandra” she knew Russell couldn’t be trusted and she didn’t even see his first season. #TheQueenStaysQueen
@@3amDayDreamer Rupert was so annoying period. He was a bad player in all his seasons. Good at fishing though, but a hateful attitude towards anyone that DARED play the game of Survivor against his terms. Yuck. Get him off. 🙄
He messed up. Russell only chance of winning is if he take Danielle (did not do anything except 1 immunity win) and Candice (only hero hated by other heroes) to the end. He could've won $100k if he took Parv and Danielle to the end.
@@geraldreodava9713 Russel still did win the 100k sprint award. It was him Vs. Rupert in the top 2 and he won by a landslide. But yes if Russel didn't let Candace get voted out and brought Danielle with him to the end he would've won 1 million on top of the 100k he got.
This idol gathered the votes of the heroes.. Sandra told Rupert after the merge that Russell is the Kingpin and Parvati is the right hand man and offered them to blindside Russell. They didn't listen. JT voted out. Sandra spoke to Candice and told her that she's gonna flip to vote out Russell/Parvati. Candice insisted to vote out Amanda because she thought that Danielle had the immunity idol and was scared of Russell. Sandra also told Rupert and agreed but Candice still vote out Amanda. Amanda goes home. Candice goes home next tribal after Rupert and Colby felt betrayed. Candice goes home because she didn't listen to Sandra. Sandra said in the confessionals that she told her that she's gonna be next but she didn't listen. Next tribal, Russell gets jealous and made a bone headed move to vote out Danielle (his only chance to get a runner up win). In the final 6, Sandra tried to convince Rupert and Colby to blindside Russell but they didn't listen and still stick to Russell. Sandra played an idol and Rupert goes home. In the final 5, Russell planned to vote out Parvati but she won the immunity so he's thinking if he would vote out Sandra or Colby. The rest of the girls think that it would be dangerous if Colby (remaining hero) will remain in the final four. Colby goes home. In the final four, Russell is screwed. There's no way for him to win the million dollars. The jury hated him so much. Parvati convinced him to vote out Sandra because she thinks she's gonna win and they have a chance to win with Jerri on their side. Jerri voted out. Russell 3rd place with no votes Parvati 2nd place with 3 votes (jerri, coach, and danielle) Sandra winner with 5 votes (courtney and all the heroes) Say all you want but Sandra deserved the win. Russell screwed his game (and Parv) after he vote out Danielle. Queen stays Queen! Adios!
Right for the most part, though Danielle and Parvati gave Russell a reason not to trust them when they hid an idol from him (without question the dumbest move that Parvati has made in her entire Survivor career, and it doesn't get talked about enough). And I don't think Russell really cares about finishing second or third. He probably doesn't beat Danielle either. Russell lost the game well before Danielle got voted out, but that is in fact where Parvati officially lost.
@@bigbuffguy9589 i disagree. the only complaint she had was that she was perceived as riding russell’s coattails so if anything distancing herself from russell to implement the move was good, she just didn’t do enough to appeal to the jury nor tried to make a move on him at f6 when she had the necklace around her. the candice voteoff is what set him over the edge.
@@kharihammon9784 There's more than one way to win Survivor. Since Parvati was not well-liked by most of the jury (obviously, whatever attempt she made to "distance" herself from Russell was not enough in the eyes of the jury), she needed two goats, and she only had one. After Candice and Danielle went home, Parvati was drawing dead. She needed to keep Danielle in the game at all costs, and her own bad decision to hide the idol from Russell got Danielle voted out.
@@bigbuffguy9589 but you said "russell gave them a reason to not trust them when he hid the idol". there’s also more than one reason for someone to hid something from you. if parvati had told him about the idol then he would expect her to play it on herself instead of giving her his idol. then she wouldn’t have had two idols to cover both sandra n jerri. i’m not gonna go hard for parvati, her social game wasn’t strong but you could argue a case that the heroes distance themselves from her as soon as they merged n how danielle couldn’t even speak to her.
@@bigbuffguy9589 n you’re right there r multiple ways of winning survivor but when you’re taking parvati into account there isn’t a strong case of that. literally she barely any chance or combinations.. maybe blindsiding russell to be perceived differently or going to the f3 with russell n danielle or both danielle n candice but only danielle wouldn’t betray parvati n on top of that candice probably wouldn’t stay loyal. even if she blindsided russell it would’ve been hard to do as russell could’ve weaponized the villains as he had the heroes plus jerri in his back pocket. f6 or f5 when she was 100% safe from being the boot was her best bet she could’ve done.
Did Russell stop to notice the reaction of the jury, especially Courtney, after Sandra played her idol? A smart player would have viewed it as a lethal omen.
AllRequired Russell is a stupid ass. Any smart player would had gotten rid of Sandra once all of the heroes were gone, except for Candice (who I would've kept) because she betrayed the heroes and no one would've voted for her to win.
@@ElectrikkPaperClipxx No.. Parvati wants Sandra out Russell wants Parvati out but swayed by Sandra to vote for Jerri. Sandra wants Jerri out. Jerri wants Parvati out. Even if Parvati voted for Sandra, Jerri still got two votes. Russell's best chance of winning the game is if he carried Danielle and Candice to the final 3.
@@MrBen51309 You really haven't been paying attention, have you? They weren't pissy about being "outplayed," they were pissy about how Russell / Parvati treated them. The jury's response was an indication of how well she understood and handled them. Something Russell never took into account. He's a stupid ass.
It began with the final 4 being the last time a person could use the HII in the EI and CI seasons. Then it changed to final 5 during Fiji and Micronesia. Then it changed again from Gabon to Nicaragua when the last time to play it was final 6. One final time it changed was in RI, back to the final 5. It has been like that ever since.
What I'm realizing watching this is that Sandra would have beaten basically any final 3 combination after Amanda was voted out. Sure, she didn't play a flashy game, but make no mistake - she had a firm control over the jury, and has such renowned self-preserving, under-the-radar style of gameplay that it's fair to assume she could have made it to the final 3 despite many things that happened on the show. She could have played her idol and went with the heroes. Russell was so played by her all season long it's not even funny. The Queen stays Queen
It was a move she didn't have to make. She would've won anyway because of the jury being bitter towards both Parvati and Russell. The underrated player this season to me was Jeri. I think if she got to the finals she could've won.
to me it's still questionable whether Jerri would have beaten Sandra tho. it's quite probable she would have beaten Parvati, but Sandra? I still feel like Sandra was the favourite in that FTC constellation as she was working with the Heroes so much. and she had a 100% vote from people like Courtney and Rupert, while Jerri probably had just Coach in her pocket.. I think Jerri did a pretty solid job this time around but her decision to go with Sandra to the end seems flawed to me.
Colby was a lock vote for Jerri too. I think Jerri would get Coach, Colby, and J.T. Sandra would get Courtney, Rupert, Candice, Amanda. Amanda, J.T, Candice, arent locked votes but I think that is how they would go. It would come down to Parvati and Danielle. If they vote Jerri she wins over Sandra 5-4. If they vote Sandra she wins 6-3 over Jerri I think.
roger leblond Parvati actually said multiple times she'd probably vote for Sandra, as for Danielle I feel like that might depend on whether Jerri would give her a good reason why she voted her out (which she actually had, unlike what people thought, Jerri's red carpet interview's great to watch in this respect) and apologize to her. so maybe a 5-4 Sandra vote?;-)
Karel Zich Thanks, well in that case Sandra would win. IMO Jerri would need to get Parvati/Danielle to even have a chance vs Sandra. And I expect Danielle to just follow Parvati's cue in terms of vote too.
Well just look at Colby. He was out already here. Poor thing. Parvati was like smilling and in her element. She was on the way of winning but should get rid of Sandra before Colby.
God I love this. RUpert is so dirty and gross. Never understood why people loved him and CBS giving him 1 million dollars that one season was an utter joke.
She used the idol to show the heroes that they should've trusted her. Rupert acknowledged that in her final jury speech. She got all the votes of the heroes btw.
@@geraldreodava9713 I know she got all the votes. I watched it way back lol. all the bitter jury members voted for her. she didn't do anything. her plan was to get rid of Russell and that never panned out. she pretty much guilt trip the jury members to vote for her, which is great, but she shouldn't have won. this is coming from someone who loves Sandra
@@nicoletara353 She deserves it. She made moves (Coach blindside) and trying to flip with the heroes but the heroes didn't trust her. She earned the heroes respect after they got voted out. She tried to talk with Candice but got denied, she tried to talk to Rupert twice and Coby once to get rid of Russell but they didn't listen. After her idol play the heroes realised how good Sandra was even if she's in the minority. She's a good reader. Even Parvati wanted her out twice but Russell didn't listen. Parvati deserves it too but her game was destroyed by Russell after voting out Danielle and by riding with Russell till the end. She's like the sidekick of Russell the whole show. The three of them deserves it but the majority of the jury which are the heroes didn't like the social game of Parvati and Russell acting like a bully.
Sandra was annoying to watch. She had the same arrogance as Russell and Parvati, but lacked the charm and charisma that made theirs enjoyable to watch.
I mean she won, but she couldve used that idol to blindside russell. she knew rupert would get votes from Russell parv and jerri, she could have voted russell with Colby and rupert and play the idol for rupert leading to russell getting voted off but she still won so it doesnt matter
That's why the whole 'I tried to help the Heroes was bullshit'. If she really wanted to blindside Russell she would've approached Rupert and Colby then showed them the idol.
I will forever despise most of the Heroes for voting out of bitterness and jealousy, but props to Sandra for using that to her advantage. This move really cemented their view that she was on their side and against Russell. It just pisses me off because if Sandra’s plan to work with the Heroes worked then she would’ve lost the game. Parv actually played an amazing game but the Heroes refused to reward her for it.
more than the "bitterness" as you say, i think heroes just felt indebted to sandra for not listening to her everytime she warned them about russell. also, bitter jury is part of the social experiment and if you do not have the ability to at least get their vote, you will never win. and yes i'm talking about russell. i love parv too btw.
@@mrjollyguy25 Lmao, ok. I just copied a rant that I did on her game beforehand with a few tweaks. Bottom line is that there was nothing amazing about this game.
Perfect example why Sandra didn't deserve to win... she played a coasters game and when it came to her saying that she had this great attempts to get out Russell...she literally had the perfect chance to do it here and simply get 1 other vote on russell and play that idol for rupert... honestly
But didn't you see how adamant Rupert is to get Russell out? If Sandra used her idol to save Rupert then Sandra would've gone home because the two remaining heroes trusted Russell too much. Plus Parvati and Sandra were preventing to give the Heroes to the majority because Russell could weaponize them to whatever he wants them to do.
Honestly, the more I looked into this I realized that Sandra deserved this win! People forget that Survivor is a social game. Sandra was working on her jury management since the merge. Even though the heroes didn't listen to her, she keep on working with the jury. This idol play was very smart. Parvati also deserves the win, but she should've tried to get Sandra off when she got the chance. Parvati was more focused on taking out the bigger threats and pulling Russell to the slaughter. Like Sandra said in Pearl Islands "Nobody pays attention to Sandra". She said she always have a different agenda and everybody else has bigger fish to fry. This is why Sandra won. Sometimes big flashy moves isn't everything. Sometimes it's good working in the shadows while making small subtle moves. She will never win again because now all eyes is on her on. She won twice and people want to study her and people have figured her out. People are always caught up with physical and big power players when it comes to Survivor. If you can't figure out why Russell had no chance of winning, you don't understand Survivor.
@@animeluver22ful There actually came a time when no one wanted to get rid of Russell anymore. Honestly, if the Heroes were willing to throw away their own game lives just to have him in front of the lynch mob, that should have been a red flag to him.
Well it helped her to plead that case in the FTC and made the Heroes open their eyed that she could've help them but they refused to because they are sucking Russell's ass.
Well, Sandra orchestrated the Coach blindside, which was an elite move. So the idol wasn't her "biggest" move. Also, jury management is incredibly important to win, and this kind of showmanship at tribal council is great for that.
The only other opportunity she had to play it was at Final 5, and she only had 1 vote against her then. Would you think that would've been a better play?
the dumbass couldn't get the clue from the jury openly worshipping Sandra. Any good player would get a clue from looking at the jury, thinking "Ok I might need to get her out next, the jury loves her"...but no, he was sooo caught up in his ego that he thought he would win after treating jury like pieces of shit and then expecting their votes. That is not how survivor works
