I think it's kinda bizarre that they made her Australian. Putting aside the fact that she doesn't have the accent, she doesn't act like an Australian. Like, all the scenes where they make fun of her homeland, a real Australian would not only go along with the joke, they would find a way to throw it back at you. Aussies can be snarky like that and I mean that in a good way. It makes WAY more sense that's she's Polish as it fits in with both her personality and Grease's setting. Poland is a very religious country and it fits with her good girl persona and a lot of Polish immigrants came to America during WW2. Even if they were afraid of audiences not knowing how to pronounce her surname, they could've added a small scene of her explaining her family had to change their names when they moved to the U.S, which is also historically accurate as a lot of Poles had to change their names. Not because they were forced to do so, but because they got sick and tired of correcting Americans all the time.

Honestly Sandy deserved better.

Am I the unique that hate Sandy? Plot twist: I love Olivia Newton John 😘

Sandy is well...boring. She has her moments but she gives off this private school upper class vibe. Nothing in common with working class Zuko. It really was a summer fling, tramping herself up for him won't change anything and they probably broke up.

I'm probably the only one who HATES this character with all my soul, and I'm going to explain why. At first I thought Sandy was stupid, because she went from happy to sad or angry or vice versa in 5 seconds. (Literally, there is a scene where, for example, she is happy, something happens in that scene that angers her, and in the next scene of her she is simply happy again) But rewatching Grease, I have realized that he is a bad character. and i have proof You will all remember the scene where Danny tries to apologize to Sandy at the Frosty Palace. In it Danny tells Sandy that it was not he who was speaking, Sandy interrupts him saying that he is glad that Tom is a simple boy, everything is there all right, the problem comes when Sandy asks Danny if he is jealous and is pretending laugh. Then Sandy asks him "What have you done in life?" But what question is that ?! If he is jealous, better because it means that he loves you. Then Danny tells him "I can run around those idiots" (In Spain he said "I have more strength than that smug blonde") And Sandy answers "when I see it, I'll believe it" You mean you're only interested in him because of his strength and speed, little girl? In another scene, Danny hurts himself trying to jump a fence and then Sandy goes to him asking if he has hurt, seeing that the boy ignores her, she says "At least you could talk to me after how you have treated me" Danny tries to apologize but is interrupted by Sandy, who says "Oh, I made you talk" Do you think you are funny? Then in the car-theater scene (the first of those two) Sandy is angry with Danny again, all because it got into her head that he and Cha Cha had something again, after he told her actively and passively that there was nothing left. So Danny gives Sandy his ring, and she suddenly stops being mad at him and says "Oh Danny this means so much to me, now I know you respect me" All because he gave her a ring, a damn ring, which, after all, is just an object Then in the other car-movie scene, Danny tries to make love to Sandy (Well, actually he almost raped her 😂) Sandy objects, I understand that, but later when Sandy leaves all angry, Danny says "Sandy, what's wrong with you? I thought it was important to you", and she responds "What were important to me? do you think I'm going to stay here in this den of sin and disgusting? " And throw away the ring, the ring that he was supposed to like so much. (In Latin Spanish in one of those dialogues, when Sandy is throwing the ring, she says "Stay with your ordinary ring!" The ring, which, as I say, she liked so much) If I were in love, I would not tell the boy that I like him that he is not important to me, and I would not throw the ring he gave me to the ground (and much less when I said I liked him before) Then in the scene where she's talking to Rizzo, before she sings There Are Worse Things I Could Do, Sandy tells her "I have to talk to Danny." With Danny !? You mean to the Danny, that if memory serves, you said it wasn't important to you, and you threw the ring I gave you to the ground? That Danny? That's what I don't like about Sandy, she's a hypocrite, her feelings can't hurt but she can. If another character did that like Rizzo, or say Frenchy (to say a good one), all "Hala, that's bad", but Sandy can be forgiven for everything, of course, how she is the protagonist 😯😒
