I was confused at first because I thought that the host and he were a mismatch but by the end I felt that we had learned more about him and about a different side of him then if he had been interviewed by an MLB player or manager, former or current. Goes to show you that a good interviewer need not be an expert on the topic of discussion, but rather a good listener who is inquisitive, asks the right questions and let’s the subject speak without interruption. Well done!

Dave is a really kind man. I hope his efforts to bring an expansion team to Nashville works, and he can be a team President.

Passing football and basketball scholarships with a catcher career in mind, and only to be told he would not catch at the camp. Not with his wildest dream that Koufax could transform him to a star pitcher. What an inspiring story!

Nothing like mom’s food. ❤️ My mother cooks amazing Italian food even though she’s an Irish woman. Fresh home cooked food is a way of life in my household. I didn’t try Taco Bell until I was 18-19 🤣. I still don’t eat fast food.

I really dislike the fact that people only bring up players who are inducted into the hall of fame. There are many hidden gem players who aren't in the hall of fame like Stew, Jack McDowell, Hershiser, Lofton, and many more that will make me last months and years listing them.

Growing up , my favorite players were Dave Parker, Davey Concepcion, Dale Murphy ,Eric Davis, and Mario Soto. None of them are in the HoF and they probably never will be. People dismiss too many great players because of the HoF. You're exactly right

Stew is awesome. A Bay Area treasure. He was sensational those years with the A's, one of the best big game pitchera of his time. Took down Dave Stieb and Roger Clemens twice each in the 1990 postseason. His honesty about being "nervous for 16 years" is refreshing, too. I still remember watching his no-hitter against Toronto. After the last pitch they interviewed him and sweat suddenly began pouring off his face and he was shaking, showing just how nervous he had been in that 9th inning alone.

I don’t know why the interviewer is shocked that he was told he would be taking a bus back home instead of a flight if he insisted that he would not try to become a pitcher. I thought it was a pretty damned good response.

there would be a 6”6 260 pound left throwing 83mph was a half as curve and i’m throwing low 90s and very good off speed and two weeks later that guy would get draft and i would as the main scout hey man what more can i do he would just say work on ur body i was like well i’m not going to be 240 and be all muscle like what did that mean i took it as hey i know ur good but basically u need to throw 95/97 and i wasn’t never going to get that unless i juiced which if i thought that’s what they wanted i probably would’ve try it cause i seen people take winstraul and jump 5mph on there fast ball in hardly no time but i also seen a few guys completely blow there elbow out and was never the same but i always wounder could’ve i played in japan or a farm team but just never got over the hump like a lot of guys a lot better than me just sucks
