Oh I would have loved to have seen a whole nest of turtles hatch! I don't know if you saw the video of when I did see one tiny little turtle return to the ocean. All day I was hoping to see baby sea turtles and I did! It was so exciting. And of course finding shells is always pretty fun 🌴🌊🐚

I am SO lucky is right! I used to have to drive 1.5 hours to get to a beach. I so appreciate all the amazing places I can explore down here. We didn't know it at the time, but we really moved to the most perfect place. I've never seen the Texas coast but I'd sure like to one day!

I couldn't believe we were SO LUCKY to be at the right place at the right time. No other people walked by while she was on the beach. It truly was amazing - plus we managed to find a few cool shells too!

I used to find painted and snapping turtles too as a kid, but that loggerhead was just the best turtle encounter we've ever had!

Right now I have a big plastic bucket they all go into. It's almost time to organize and clean them. I'll probably make a video about that too 😊

Yes, when you watch the turtle video you'll see there were 2 people from the SCCF there to make sure the turtle stayed safe. It was an amazing encounter!

It has been a rough summer for finding shells! I spoke to a Sanibel local and he said it's been slow for the last 6 months. We always manage to find SOMETHING, but I'm hoping the Winter Winds will make our job easier 😊 Thank you for watching!

We go as early as possible, usually around 7:30-8am. Its great in the warmer months because the sun isn't completely out yet, but in the winter it can get a little chilly :)

Personally, I go early in the morning and never experience any crowds. If I ever felt uncomfortable I would leave, but people at the beaches I visit are social distancing and being respectful of others space. I do feel it is safe.

I do not usually wear shoes unless we're going a REALLY long walk in which case I'll put on my Columbia outdoor sandals. The sand will irritate the bottom of my feet after a couple of miles and the shoes are lifesavers (or feet savers!). I had this mesh shopping bag which I changed into an over the shoulder bag and then added some fabric to make the handle longer. I recently took some video of my beat up bag so I can show you in an upcoming video. The shells....I keep the really pretty ones and I have a bunch of glass containers I keep them all in. The rest I use in my yard in a section my husband sectioned off. Let me know if you have any other questions!

I’ve never shelled at the Lighthouse personally - but I’ve heard of others finding good things there, I think this time of year is just tough and harder to find good shells. Hope you manage to find something good!

I had the SWF Logo done long before I ran into this gorgeous mama turtle. I was in heaven seeing her on the beach like that!

I would prefer to just soak my goodies in bleach, but that doesn't always get the job done. I tried dipping them in acid and it was amazing (here is the video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mx47mh0Ogl8.html).

The volunteers walk the islands looking for the turtle tracks. I don't remember if that was a "false crawl" or not, but we have PLENTY of amazing people who are on the lookout for our turtles!

I've thought about that, and it would be MUCH faster for me to make videos but I don't like the sound of the wind and there are times when I want to add maps and other info, so I just take care of all that once I'm home 🤗
