In the Enies Lobby, Sanji did not call for help in the battle with the Khalifa, and here he was no longer ashamed to call for help. Here it is - character development

I was wondering how strong the voice actor’s yell was going to be for this scene, since he’s been doing this for 20+ years, but he’s still got it. This was definitely one of the most pleasant surprises in the Wano arc for me. Character development for Sanji, and a fight for Robin.

What I like about this scene is it shows Sanji’s trust in Robin and that he will rely on her when he is faced with an opponent he can’t fight but she can

“Every one has things they can and cannot do. I’ll do what you can’t do and you do what I can’t do.”- Sanji, Enies Lobby. I’m so proud of Sanji especially after WCI! I can’t wait for Robin to have her 1v1. I know this is a moment Robin has been waiting for since Enies Lobby.

This is exactly what Robin needed, this moment parallels to when Robin asked to be saved so long ago. Ever since Enis Lobby, Robin has always wanted to repay the crew for helping her Sanji knows this, and is placing his trust in her just as Robin did to the crew back then. While it looks like Sanji is asking to be saved and putting danger to Robin, in truth he's doing this FOR Robin. To be frank, Robin is probably happy inside knowing she can help someone important just as she was helped before.

In Enies Lobby he didn't want Nami's help, in Whole Cake island he didn't want Luffy's help and instead he did everything to push them away from the danger, to not get them killed and to not get Zeff killed.. he was abandoned and pushed as a kid, he never knew how to ask for something, how to ask for help because every time he did it, he'd get beaten.. but now he realized that it is okay to ask for help... Robin will appreciate that Sanji chose to rely on her.

He's just an honorable guy who doesn't throw his principles overboard.

This actually shows a lot about Sanji's character development, on WCI he was willing to face his destiny alone and leaving the crew without asking for help at all, but now he realizes how important it is to have them by your side.

Black Maria: "You can't defeat me." Sanji-kun: "I know. But she can." Black Maria: "???" Nico Robin: *"GIGANTESCO MANO - SPANK!"*

What people don't realize is that this isn't Sanji endangering his crewmember, normally as we've seen many times.... he would rather die than hurt a woman. I think what's happening here is beautiful for his character growth because he knows in this situation he can't afford to die, he has a job to do and he still needs to do it, however he's not about to betray the teachings of owner Zeff, the man who saved Sanji and gave him purpose, and he does this by relying on Robin to save him. People think he's "putting robin in danger which goes against his chivalrous personality" but I see a man who is 100% certain that Robin isn't a damsel in need of protection.. but instead a badass who is strong and can pick up his slack in doing something he cannot. A crewmate relying on his crew, I see no problem here. Sanji's character growth is incredible ❤❤

In Enies Lobby, Nami saved Sanji, in Wano, Robin has. It’s really nice to see Sanji realizing women are more than damsels in distress, his character development is amazing

Sanji is the type of guy to keep getting hurt by a lady just because she is a lady But this right here..was unexpected but deep for sanji's character

He was always that solo guy with the agent vibes, he never called for help he was always the one who helped the others and here is the first time he acctepted help from others

Black Maria: Go ahead and scream for Nico Robin's help! We're just "dying" to meet her! Sanji: Very poor choice of words.

This is without question my favorite moment for Sanji as a Sanji fan. Yes, this includes moments that I wont spoil from later on in the arc. This is the best form of development for him considering him doing the opposite of this was what kicked off Whole cake island in the first place.

Everyone complaining about Sanji being a bad character for calling for help, but Sanjis always been number one for sticking to his principles.

Way to go Sanji. You did the right thing to call Robin for help.

I can’t tell if I wanna Cry laugh or no emotion in this scene.. Truly brings back Ennies lobby memories except Sanji and Robin switch places.

A showcasing that loyalty to your crew is more than just being willing to sacrifice yourself for one another, but also about the trust that's been built over many obstacles. This is probs one of my favorite scenes in all of Wano and one piece as a whole; so many layers a whole essay could be written on it

Oh my, is Robin finally gonna have her 1v1? Now I can't wait for the nxt few episodes!

This the polar opposite of Enies Lobby when Sanji ran upstairs saying Robin was waiting for him to save her

Idiots won’t stop saying he’s weak because of that. This “weak” moment changed the course of the battle and potentially saved Momonosuke from death. And very few guys have the courage to ask for help for something they can’t do.

we saw it first in enies lobby vs khalifa and then again in whole cake island that sanji didnt wanna call for help from his friends over problems concerning himself, here he shows that he finally accepts his flaws and asks robin to help him cuz he knows shes gonna be able to do it, he's showing complete trust in his crew and for Robin especially this means a lot considering her backstory

It makes sense why Sanji is adverse to ask for help. When he was a child, his pleas for help have always been ignored by his father. For Sanji to be able to ask for help means that he finally overcame his childhood trauma. Also shows his faith in robin as he has faith that she is competent enough to handle herself against a tobi Roppo member

Sanji was there when both Nami and Robin desperately asked the straw hats for help. He was a white knight, ready to defend any woman in danger, while often rejecting help, even if it ended up in him failing, like against Kalifa. But Whole Cake Island was all about Sanji attempting to take a burden on his shoulders that was heavier than he could carry. He was willing to sacrifice with the idea of doing what was best for the crew. Until, eventually, he too asked for help in desperation. I think at some point he realised that that's exactly what Nami and Robin had gone through: trying to solve their own personal problems while leaving the crew out of it, thinking it would be the right thing to do, only to be saved by that same crew. So I think that not only did Sanji realise in WCI that his friends will gladly make up for his weaknesses if necessary, but he also truly learned to see Nami and Robin as equals and strong individuals, rather than just women to save. In spite of what many might think, including characters in the story itself, I believe this is one of the most powerful scenes for Sanji's character.

The faith the Strawhats have in each other is nothing short of awe inspiring. And in other news, squash that spider Robin!

A monumental moment for Sanji's character development!

Sanji could have easily called for anyone else, but learning to swallow his pride as a gentleman and putting faith in Robin to rescue him shows some real character development

Never thought I would have ever seen the day sanji would rely to a woman to get help cause he really can't hit a woman no matter what. Outstanding development for sanji once again.

Sanji called Robin because he knows she can save him and beat Black Maria. It's not being a coward, it's, trusting a nakama.

For all those being like "Sanji is playing in the hand of the enemy endangering Robin", first of all, Robin's strong, Sanji's a fighter, he knows if a crewmate of his has a chance against someone, second, you know there are lots of people right? Like other members, he called for robin, still others can go with her, like Brook for example

When Robin does it, it's emotional but when Sanji does it they call him pathetic

I loved this scene. So much character development since enies Lobby. Back then, I'd rather have died. But after Nami's scolding and Whole Cake Island, I learned to trust my crew.

The voice actors they got for this just poor there souls into every line and I want to thank them for that.

I know there are some that are like “why would he call for her that’s not like him”? And to those I get it up till now he’s been a knight in shining armour for a lot of ladies as well as Nami/Robin, but this shows he has faith in Robin to save him and even Nami knew that when she says “he’s fighting a woman” it’s nothing to do with being chivalrous it’s his faith in the girls and his crew mates that makes this scene extremely powerful.

Yeah all good but why nobody here Is realizing that sanji did this for an another reason too. Now usopp noticed the receivers, he did that scream of help so their crew would know they're spied. What a goat.

Its crazy to me that some ppl are looking at this as Sanji being shameful and this being anything but great writing for his character. Sanji's character growth is about trying to be enough for others. He literally had an entire arc about it. Even just recall how he starts in this war; desperately trying to figure out where he would be most useful. He acts as Luffy's shield to Zoro's sword when it comes to the crew. And so of course it should culminate in either becoming something that can withstand any and every thing that comes at the crew or becoming someone that can accept when he can allow others to handle something themselves so that he can be where he's really needed. Meanwhile, Sanji's whole character struggle is about staying true to and accepting himself. We see it time and time again that his principles get in his way of doing what he knows he should be able to do. His sturdy principles are the core of his character. He either finally breaks them and betrays who he is, or fully embraces them and becomes ok with their hindrance, thus accepting his own words to Usopp so long ago; that others can do what he can't. He made up his mind when he refused to let anyone tamper with his cake for Big Mom. This is the culmination of everything we've seen of Sanji and it only makes sense. If you were ok with him sticking to his "everyone deserves food" policy for Big Mom, then trust that he's doing what's right for himself and the crew in sticking to his rule about women too.

I love the fact that everyone can see how far sanji has come as a character in being able to call for help when especially in a situation like this

everyone in the comment section who calls this simping is a man who will never get laid because talking to a girl is apparently simping. sanji had "do not punch women" beat into him since he was a kid, the only people who were nice to him throughout his entire germa childhood were WOMEN. of course he doesnt want to hit women, but in the past he would've just decided to die and that'll be it. in here, after all these arcs of always relying on himself only because he felt like he didnt deserve help and didnt want it, he finally for once asks for help. if that doesnt satisfy you, just keep watching and sanji'll get his good fight

so does he not want to hurt women or does he not want men to hurt women, sanji scolding zoro that just threatens nami in arlong park yet letting luffy hit vivi and get away with it later in alabasta and doesnt say anything about it, it really depends on how oda is feeling about his characters not about consistancy

I see a lot of similarities between Sanji and Robin, like how and why they left the crew to sacrifice themselves for them, so for both it was an important moment: Robin finally being able to save, Sanji for finally feeling worth to be saved.
