This is pure brilliance. Such a simple beautiful song, sung to absolute perfection. Would be a deserved Eurovision Song Contest Winner in my estimation. Fantastic stuff!
I still can't get over the fact that this song ended up second, although it got by far the most votes. Stupid international juries. This song was, and still is, the best we've had in our competition next to Euphoria.
There were no international juries, it was juries from different parts of sweden. The international juries entered melodifestivalen for the first time 2009
Problem is that the points from the televotes weren't fluid. Sanna would've gotten 132 points no matter if she got 1 more vote than Charlotte or 1 million more votes. That the points from the televotes is now calculated using the percentage of votes someone got is so much better. With todays voting system, Sanna would've been in Moscow.
I wonder how well this song would've done at the Eurovision... there were mostly dance songs in the final in 2008, this power ballad would've certainly stood out!

Came back to watch this bc 2022 Hold Me Closer - Cornelia reminds me this song. Sadly I believe this year Sweden will also send the most famous person instead of the better song like it happen back then with Hero. Sanna's Empty Room was an easy top 3.

I mean Perrelli brought a musicians song, full of professionalism. Nothing wrong with that otherwise but people are not touched by it, I didn't feel a thing when I listened too it and probably nobody else did either. The Swedish people voted for Sanna and the jury for Charlotte...
@jakempson I absolutely agree. I cannot believe that I have only just seen that performance. Loved the song from Melodifestivalen album and ♥ this years "I'm In Love" too. However, Sanna has such a powerful voice that the live performances are just stunning. I loved the Soundfactory mix, but after watching this - Wow!
A total disgrace, sending Hero. This was our song, the Swedish song for this year. So emontional, som good voice, so perfect. and we send the silver monster.....
@@escfan2706 although I think empty room deserve a win in melo, but 2008 was the wrong year. Hero deserved to win that year. It was completely robbed in esc though.

It is such bullshit! The goal for a country must be to get as much likes from people all over the world... NOT from the elite in the world! It is such socialdemocratic stupidity... I am also a swede... STOP! the jurysystem!

Mr President, I have an idea that could lead to a profitable deal part for all sides in the conflict. South of Crimea there are, ackording to investigations rich oil and gasfinds. Ukraine could be offered to take part in the extraction of the finds in a 50% agreement. That both parts finances development of finds equally, and both share the profits with 50% each. In this way there is no risk for extraction being blocked by problems between US rules and a foreign oil company like french Total etc.(don´t remember exact name of the oilcompanies involved.). The referendum can be put on a hold until normal conditions are met or just be of counseling character. And as soon as the deal is agreed on, normal military conditions can take place and go back to 2013 conditions. It´s an idea to close the deal now, because it´s impossible to say how a new ukrainian governement in May will say to the deal. Yours sincerely, Håkan Liljeberg
Sanna hade troligtvis aldrig vunnit i hela Europa...låten är lite för oorginell för att folk ska komma ihåg den! Den hade bara tävlat mot Frankrikes årliga ballad..
The best songs rarely wins because Sweden has since a couple of years have introduced a jury-system... Even though the piece has won the people´s vote...? Why? Because socialists are fixated with the idea to controle everything! To make sure that the winner is representative for the elite´s political opinion what is a representative song. Preferably it should represent a minority, HBTQ, or any other political idea! And that is why the finnish contribution didn´t win. This is such bullshit! This system that doesn´t respect the people´s voice is splitting us up and make us weaker.. This has to stop immediately...! I am a swede myself..
